I wonder how much it would be to get my pups to Michigan for daycare.

Maybe I could send the twins along and we could get a group discount.

We bought CBD Oil for the dogs this past weekend. I expect we'll need to use it Thursday - Saturday nights this weekend. We live in an unincorporated area and fireworks are legal. Between the CBD Oil and their Thundershirts, the Beagle will sleep. The Terrier will still be shaky, but no where near as bad. He will eventually be able to settle under a blanket pressed against me. Whether I'll be able to sleep or not with him pressed against me shaking is a different story.

I was all set to relax on the patio tonight. i put the pups out back and came inside to switch my laundry over. was gone *maybe* 5min. come outside with my book, a glass of rose, and a lit citronella candle. I look up after getting settled at the patio table and see that the golden is laying down but watching LD pretty intently. LD is standing over what it takes my brain a good minute to register is a pile of fur. 🤢 I'm pretty sure I scared my neighbors with the sounds that came out of my mouth. got the dogs back in the house and called my dad to whine, lament that he lives an hour and a half away from me, and ask what's the best way to dispose of this beast. gloves, shovels (yes, I needed two) and a good heave over the 6' fence. he was heavier in the shovel than a 10lb bag of rice, but he is now over my fence in the sticks. and I'm going to take a shower. the chuck-it is in the pic for size reference. WTE happened in those 5min?!

I guess you have a rodent free yard?
Bil's lab was just dying to chase a rabbit yesterday. DH got ahold of his collar though and made him lay down. He's got hip dysplasia at a very young age. He doesn't need to be running around like a fool per the vet.

seems that way, but every once in awhile.one is dumb enough to dig under the fence. I don't think I posted in this thread about it. but then golden chased a squirrel all around the backyard and up a tree in the driveway a couple weeks back. so even she is a chaser.
if either of them would be so kind as to dispatch the supersized insects that find their way in through holes in screens created by the dogs in the first place. that would be totally welcome. no more of these large rodents, please!

Many years ago my GSD caught a groundhog. I wasn't there for it, but my then BF told me she grabbed it by the neck and shook her head. All he said he heard were two cracks and then she dropped it having broken its neck. He proclaimed the most docile dog ever a killer. It's the only time she'd ever killed anything to our knowledge.

You shouldn't have to see what two stray pit bulls can do to a cat. I was unfortunate to witness from beginning to end the damage done to one of my garage cats by the two pit bulls this past January. Those same two stray pit bulls came back at least three more times that month and killed three more of my garage cats.

I guess he got a chipmunk in M's backyard a few weeks back. last night's beast was just huge though. there wasn't a scratch on him, either. I'd be willing to bet he died of a heart attack as he got stared down by 70lb LD and ~95lb golden.

Also in January, and by coincidence, a third pit bull leaped my six foot high backyard privacy fence to try and attack the cats who live in the backyard. I saw him in time to chase him out of the backyard. It escaped by leaping over the six foot high privacy fence again.

I had a mastiff puppy that kept bringing me the same dead squirrel after I would chuck it over the fence. I finally had enough and put it in the trash barrel to end the game of fetch. It was so gross.

. One of these squirming things will be Teds new buddy. I’ve already name him “Bill” planning on both of them going on many excellent adventures. 🙂. Still don’t know exactly which one it will be yet.

I love the naming convention, tractor 🤣 today, I'm WFH because holiday traffic. someone was much happier about this development when we were sitting out in the backyard. we are inside now, because she was overheating. first, she pouted very loudly, and now she is passed out in front of the fan. we will go outside again later. I need to crank out some more of this review, which will be a lot easier if I'm not breaking stride to chuck a tennis ball every 5min. it's already slow enough bc it's new to me AND in Italian. oy

We do need better puppy pictures.
My SIL got a second GSP. He's growing fast. I'd bet on him being the alpha. The older one won't put the puppy in his place.

We had a cat killed by a pack of stray dogs. No idea what the breeds were, but lots and lots of dogs have really strong prey drives. I've had to rescue a cat cornered by my Australian Shepherd when he got out. (The cat was unharmed, and got a really good swipe in across my dog's nose. My dog deserved it.). And my Terrier will chase anything that is small, furry, and runs. He's only 25-30lbs, so most cats would stand a chance at least, but still. It's prey drive. We as humans bred it into them, and we need to take responsibility for it.
Was checking in to see how everyone's pups handled the booms. Our's were both drugged last night. The Terrier was also drugged Wednesday night, and I expect will be again tonight and tomorrow night. It made the fireworks no worse than the doorbell - which while the barking is annoying, I will take that over the terrified whole body shakes any time.
It also helped that I started the day by taking the dogs on a 5 mile walk.
