Tell me why Jackson has to flip his food bowl over in his crate. Every. Freaking. Time. I picked it up when I went home for lunch and $20 says he has food all over the floor again when I go home after work. He is punishing you for leaving!

My crew Left to right with their real names: Summer Bear, Roggie (pronounced like Rogie Vachon) & their daughter, Lexie in the forefront. Gorgeous! I have a weakness for Shepherds. I'd love to get another GSD, but I'm not certain I could survive puppyhood. My old man dog that passed away last year was a terror when he was a puppy and didn't become a "normal" good dog until he was over 3 years old.

I told Thing 2 that we're never getting another Doberman. After Jackson dies, we're getting a GSD. Well, she'll be moved out by then.

The next dog will also be at least a year or two old by the time I get one. I can't with puppies anymore. I love Jackson, but I wish we could fast forward a year already. There's a lot of puppy left in him.

Saw my second Siberian Husky puppy in a week. Apparently they have lots of energy as puppies. Today's looked like the one below. The first one I saw was the more common black and white with the gorgeous blue eyes. I think they are gorgeous but I understand they can be a lot of work.

Great photos folks! Keep em coming. Took granddaughter to a state swim meet on the other end of Wyoming over the weekend. Had time for a movie Sat night. Saw "A dog's Purpose". Really liked the flick, but suggest you take a big box of Kleenex if you go. Funny, and sad.

Reserving a new puppy today, litter due in early April should be home by mid-May. It's going to be a great spring. Oh! What kind? I love other people's puppies. German short haired pointer

My silly pup was at my feet last night as I made Jasmine rice for DH for dinner.
I don't get his love for white rice, but, yup, the pup got a little, LOL.

I'm having Jackson's ears checked. He's been behaving kind of weird lately. Sounds that don't normally bother him, he's barking like crazy at. Like my hair dryer. Usually he just lays outside the bathroom door while I'm drying my hair. Today he went nuts barking and put his back up like he was going to pounce. He doesn't do that. And he was barking in the middle of the night. He has never done that. I listened really hard and could vaguely hear another dog barking outside. But I wouldn't think that would be enough to warrant him going crazy. Anything else I should consider? He has an appointment with the vet tomorrow.

Just got a frantic text from a member of my dog-walking group. One of her 3 small dogs had gotten separated from her and a friend while walking in a nearby conservation area rife with coyotes (as, frankly, are all our local dog-friendly outdoor spaces). Would I come help her look for him? I dropped everything, threw on some sneakers, grabbed my keys, and was on my way. Fortunately, the wayward pup was found just as I was heading out the door to help look.
She called me to thank me for offering to come help look. I told her no thanks were needed. Dog-people look out for each other and their pups.

What are your thoughts on the best small dogs. We've had a Lhasa-poo and a Pom-a-poo. Both were great. Both were pain in the drain yard escape artists. When we get the back fence redone we'd like to get another small dog. (I'm still working on an ok to get a second "larger" lap puppy ie German Shepherd or Golden Retriever) I would appreciate any thoughts you guys may have

He's going to the vet today. He doesn't act like his ears hurt if you rub them, so I'm hoping it's all in my head. I'd rather the vet tell me I'm nuts than have something wrong with him and leave it untreated.

Awww, love the dog photos! I have no idea how to post photos or I would.
My current guy is a lab mix. Not sure with what but since he is 6 months old and weighs upwards of 80lbs I would say something big. He is solid black and very handsome. Cannot be trusted alone at all yet though, and he's obstinate as all hell.
My last dog, who passed exactly 1 year ago, was a yellow lab and she was perfect. Labs are the bestest dogs and she was the bestest of all.

Oh! I have a question for dog people. At what age should a male dog be neutered? I always thought around 6 months. I've been hearing a lot of talk now about how it should be over 1 year, especially for larger dogs. Thoughts?

definitely not younger than 6 months. Little Dog is a pit mix, and we were told that he was probably snipped too young. at 2 years old, he's just now figuring out how to lift his leg to pee. not sure what else there is for long-term effects, basically because he's also a parvo survivor. we aren't sure what could be attributed to one vs the other.

My guy lifts his leg and pees on everything! Taking him for a walk is really like taking him for a 40 minute pee. He is big into marking everything right now. And he has a strong dominant streak and likes to try to mount other dogs. And have I mentioned he's huge? lol I think I'm taking him to get fixed sooner rather than later.

Jackson was 3 months old when he was neutered. He does squat to pee which I thought was weird, but my female GSD would lift her leg to pee so what do I know. At 9 months he can't be trusted alone either. Hopefully he gets there sooner than later, but I won't hold my breath. There's a lot of puppy left in him.

Well, my baby has an ear infection. The vet told me to clean his ears and gave me drops. Poor puppy. On the other hand, he farted as he walked past me just now and it smelled like two weeks worth of shit so I guess the back end is working ok. He's so gross.
