Obama's incompetence and paralysis in time of need is unacceptable. He is derelicting his duty to the country. Impeachment proceedings should begin immediately... www.nypost.com/p/news/opinion/opedcolumnists/obama_the_invisible_Ass40MBstf15MAr9DYAORKWhere is the president? The world is beset. Moammar Khadafy is moving relentlessly to crush the Libyan revolt that once promised the overthrow of one of the world's most despicable regimes. So where is the president? Japan may be on the verge of a disaster that dwarfs any we have yet seen. A self-governing nation like the United States needs its leader to take full measure of his position at times of crises when the path forward is no longer clear. This is not a time for leadership; this is the time for leadership. So where is Barack Obama? The moment demands that he rise to the challenge of showing America and the world that he is taking the reins. How leaders act in times of unanticipated crisis, in which they do not have a formulated game plan and must instead navigate in treacherous waters, defines them. Obama is defining himself in a way that will destroy him. It is not merely that he isn't rising to the challenge. He is avoiding the challenge. He is Bartleby the President. He would prefer not to. He has access to a microphone 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If he tells the broadcast networks in the middle of the day that he has a major address to deliver on an unprecedented world situation, they will cancel their programming for him. And yet, since Friday and a press conference in which he managed to leave the American position on Libya more muddled than it was before, we have not heard his voice. Except in a radio address -- he talked about education legislation. And he appeared at a fund-raiser in DC. And sat down with ESPN to reveal his NCAA picks.

This is just my take on some of this but the issues going on in the middle east, like Libya, we should stay out of it.

ed, how many of these types of threads do you plan to start? it's getting old. you keep providing the same information. I think that's in the CoC as spam threads, but I'll leave that up to the mods for final decisions.

This is just my take on some of this but the issues going on in the middle east, like Libya, we should stay out of it. It's a no-win situation. We step in, and we're bullies trying to set up a puppet government. Do nothing, and we're supporting a brutal dictator.

The hard right should be ecstatic that Obama is keeping his nose out of important issues. Have a drink on me and celebrate!

I don't understand people who then come on the thread to tell you they don't like the thread and try to censor it. Funny to see who the real censors are when they pretend they are not. Indeed, I have maintained for years that the left is the worst offender when it comes to censorship and speech/thought control...this is just another example.

I think you've misunderstood the meaning of the word censor. but that's ok, you're pretty. so I guess ed's going to ignore the original question then, and never post anything new. oh well...so much for intelligent discussion of new topics.

Where did you ask for "more detail"? All you've done is call my posts spam, then call them "crap". If you want more detail, click on the link to read the article, then do some research on your own if it interests you. That's kind of the point of this board. I'm not planning to post thesis-level dissertations about news articles. If you want more, the internet is waiting...

Obama's absence during time of acute need is explained as follows in case you all forgot this is March Madness Time again and our President has been busy as you can readily see below: President Obama’s March Madness bracket this year has all No. 1 seeds in the Final Four -- Kansas, Ohio State, Pitt, and Duke. In his yearly ESPN segment on the bracket, the president, an avid basketball fan, said it was the first time he has ever picked all No. 1s. In the championship, the president picked Kansas over Ohio State, despite the fact that the Jayhawks were his title pick last year and exited in a second round upset to Northern Iowa. This is the fourth time President Obama has released his March picks, the third time as president. So how has he fared? Past results: --In 2008, then-Sen. Obama correctly picked three of the Final Four teams, but not the champion (Kansas) or runner up (Memphis). --2009 was a strong year for the President -- he accurately picked 87.5 percent of the Sweet Sixteen and chose the eventual Champion, UNC. --The president struggled last year, failing to pick a single team in the Final Four. Then again last year was a difficult year to predict, and the president’s winter may have been a bit filled with the fight over something else… health care reform. Campaign connection? --Three teams (Duke, Ohio St., and Pitt.) in the President’s Final Four come from Swing States. --Six of his Elite Eight come from swing states (Seven of eight if you count Indiana – Purdue). --Seven teams he has in the Elite Eight come from states the president carried in 2008, the only exception being his pick to win it all: Kansas. firstread.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/03/16/6283555-examing-obamas-bracket-goes-with-favorites-exudes-caution

Ms Chiver78.....how about my reply #21?? Note it even has the campaign connection which is #2 on Obama's priority list with #1 being his brackets naturally.. And if you are unhappy with Obama's brackets remember he devotes a lot of time to his picks ... BTW Fox News is going to have a one hour show today devoted to this subject Re: Obama's Absence Lately..

You're free to not click on my threads anymore if you don't like them. Why is this so hard? And how do you equate saying I have no new material with asking for more detail? I think you're stretching quite a bit...

The United States does not need to take a "leadership" role in the internal affairs of Libya. The people of Libya need to take that responsibility. The United States does not need to take a "leadership" role in the disaster relief efforts in Japan. The people of Japan need to take that responsibility. The President of the United States is doing exactly what I wish for him to be doing in both situations (i.e. not putting himself, and thus the U.S., front and center).

Every time I have posted on this topic, the source material is different. I can't help the fact that a lot of authors are writing pieces in different publications about Obama's incompetence and failure to lead. Perhaps it is an important topic and numerous writers are covering it. It's a theme, not a repetition. Again, if you don't want to read it, you're free to pass over the thread...

President Obama’s former chief of staff, and newly-elected Mayor of Chicago, Rahm Emanuel once said, “You never want to let a good crisis go to waste.” Fortunately for President Obama, he has a number of crises from which to choose, and is being urged by his critics to take charge. With civil unrest erupting into a war in Libya, natural disasters plaguing a significant owner of U.S. debt, and a federal government operating solely on temporary stopgap measures, many Americans are questioning the thought processes of a President who ignores such important issues and opts instead to provide radio addresses on gender inequality. Fox News reports: Amid chaos around the world and on Capitol Hill, Obama’s Saturday radio address was devoted to Women’s History Month and a call to pass the Paycheck Fairness Act, a proposal meant to address the income gap between men and women. Then, the president went golfing at Andrews Air Force Base. According to Fox News, the radio address did little to assuage the concerns of Obama’s critics, who have targeted what they perceive to be lax, cool, and restrained responses to the mounting crises. Dana Perino, former White House press secretary under George W. Bush, observed, “I don’t know if they don’t realize the disconnect and maybe they don’t care … but it does matter.” Similarly, former Bush adviser Karl Rove has called for the President to devote more attention to the strife in Libya and the federal budget, two significant matters. Fox News explains: Critics note that every time Congress works on a stopgap budget, it risks a government shutdown and does virtually nothing to cut spending, all the while creeping closer to a tricky — and potentially disastrous — vote on raising the debt ceiling; every day the administration defers to it international partners to weigh the best course of action in Libya, Muammar al-Qaddafi gains ground.
Nile Gardiner of the Heritage Foundation notes that, regardless of the escalating crises, President Obama “seems paralyzed.”

I majored in hockey and minored in Beer at BC....miss those old Beanpot tournaments at the Ole Garden...with the ice shaking as the trains rolled in under the flooring and seats.. But the Canadians vs Bruins is going to be a tough series because of the incident in Montreal last week with Charo's hit that was seen in slow motion by the Canadians ad nauseum for a few days on the news in Quebec.. I lived in MA when the Bruins had Bobby Orr, Phil Esposito and Gerry Chivers along with a cast of characters playing for them..they praticed at BC (McHugh Forum) when the Ice Capades took over the Boston Gardens and got to chat with Milt Schmidt a lot but not to Harry Sinden at all ..And watch them practice..and Orr was really someting else with his quickness..

It should surprise no one that those who believe in an Imperial Presidency find fault with President Obama not being an Imperial President. Those of us who believe in a more collaborative style of leadership are impressed with our current President and his willingness to not put himself at the center of all goings on nationally or internationally.
