Stayed pretty much on plan throughout the weekend. Did not got to a movie with Pop Tart on Saturday, but did have to run to the grocery store for a few things CostCo doesn't carry. Sunday was not an NSD, but it was never supposed to be an NSD. That was a lack of me looking at a calendar when I put it in. My writing group meets every other Sunday morning, and I always get a chai and pastry for it. But I've been so busy with other stuff for the last bit, I haven't been able to make my writing group. So, when I put up my plan for the week last Monday, I didn't look at the calendar to see that I had writing group on Sunday. It is a controlled spend. This week, I have a big, literal once every 10 years event, at work on Monday and Tuesday. I plan on getting Starbucks both days. I am off Wed-Fri. I have a medical appt and a massage scheduled for Friday, and nothing official on the books for Wed & Thurs right now, but am hoping to do a short day trip on Wednesday (C has appointments on Thursday). But not having my normal structure to the week does make it hard for me to plan.

Sometimes the problem with writing my plan down is that I don't full think through the plan and leave things out. We have a major event going on here at work yesterday and today - a literal once every 10 years review of our department. Due to the stress of the review, and the reserve I have built up on my campus card, I decided I would just get lunch here on campus both yesterday and today - to get me out of the building for a few minutes each day. So yesterday was Starbucks and lunch. We did also go out to Red Robin for dinner, but roomie paid. Today will also be Starbucks and lunch.

The last few weeks have been busy and this coming week seems to be shaping up to be just as crazy. School is almost over and things will settle down for a while.

Last week went mostly according to plan, as much as there was a plan. Starbucks and lunch on Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday we did not do a day trip, as I ended up with a meeting regarding our legal situation. That meeting was a little stressful, so I allowed myself a trip to McDs afterward, making Wednesday a spend. Thursday was a No Spend. Friday I had multiple medical appointments, so it was a controlled spend. Saturday I bought groceries, and then instead of going to a movie, we took a trip up the coast with the roomie in his convertible. We did buy lunch, but spent less than if we had gone to a movie, so counted as a controlled spend. Sunday was a No Spend. Plan for this week is below. Hoping for 3 No Spend days in a row (Tues-Thurs), in order to have a chance to make my NSD goal for the month.

Yesterday was not a No Spend. I ended up running over to the Student Union for snacks. But since I used the money on my campus card, it does count as a Controlled Spend. Today should be a No Spend.

Update: 21 NSDs and 6 CSDs
I have been doing well this month. Things will be changing in the near future as I need to stock up on some essentials in the grocery area. Also need to get a few bags of potting soil as several plants are in need of re-potting. My upcoming retreat is half paid for and I have money put aside for the hotel and other planned expenses. Also have been saving for a trip to visit extended family later this summer.
It is a good thing that I have always been very frugal and these boards have reinforced my tendencies as I retired after almost 45 years in the classroom. I am not sure how this new adventure will play out but I now that the full impact won't hit me until everyone will return to school in late summer. I do plan to continue with my fairly low key life and my hobbies.

We had a good weekend, and yesterday was a No Spend Day. That means if I can manage a No Spend Day tomorrow, as well, I will reach my goal for the month. Today I have counseling, and will be getting my Starbucks.
This week does begin a busy 2 weeks at work, with it being the end of the academic year, so I've got a lot of events happening, that may change my normal routine a bit.

Yesterday was a No Spend. We did go out to a hockey bar to watch part of the game last night, but roomie paid.
Both today and tomorrow are going to be crazy days at work, so I don't know when exactly I'll have time to get my June goals and tracking up and out there. As for May, I met my No Spend goals. I did not meet my Spend goal, but only went over that by 1, so I am okay with that. I was under my Starbucks goal by 2, plus I am getting a smaller sized drink, and I bought a reusable cup, so I'm saving money (but only about $0.60) each time I go.

The weekend went as planned. I bought some stuff via Amazon on Friday, grocery store and a movie on Saturday. We bought the tickets to Sunday's movie on Saturday, so on Sunday, a No Spend. I did start this morning with a Starbucks.
There's lots of question marks in this week's plan. While I would hope that tomorrow is an NSD, it is going to be a stressful day, and so it might very well become a spend. And then on Sunday, I would normally have writing group (and therefore buy myself breakfast) on Sunday morning, but I am also planning on walking in a 5k with the dogs, starting at 11:30a, so I might not do writing group, might get lunch out after the 5k, etc.

June Update: 3 NSDs and 2 CSDsI have been doing well so far this month. Tomorrow will be a spend day as my car gets out of the repair shop and I have to pay that bill. It needed more work than I thought (power steering issues) so my car EF will be depleted some. Other than that I have only spent on groceries and co-pay for my eye exam. Glasses/contacts are good for another year so am happy about that.

Car repair yesterday was very pricey. Glad I had a car EF to deal with it. Hurts to have to spend it but that is what it was saved for. Was hoping to add it to the new car fund but is will keep the one I have running a little longer.

No copay at the dentist, and I didn't end up buying the prescription toothpaste he recommends, so yesterday was a No Spend. I am calling today a controlled spend. I had Starbucks this morning and we went to CostCo this afternoon. No other spending has happened. However, I am going to need to figure something out for a travel computer. My Surface died this week. It is out of warranty. I can do an out of warranty replacement for $600 (which isn't a bad deal), but it's not really money we have right now. I am looking at Chromebooks, since mostly what I need is something that I can remote desktop into my work computer on, get online, and be an eReader. I just want it to be light weight and smaller than my desktop replacement laptop.

Saturday was a spend. My Surface died (and I mean died) last week. It was a short death, starting Tuesday evening, and over by Thursday afternoon, though the Microsoft store didn't confirm it until Friday afternoon. However, my Surface is more than a tablet, it is my travel computer, and being without a travel computer (especially since I am traveling this coming weekend) was not something I was interested in. I could have gotten an out of warranty replacement Surface Pro 4 for $600 (regularly over $1,000), but as C pointed out, I have now been through 3 Surface tablets in 4 years. So would it really be a good use of money? Plus, we don't really have $600 lying around right now. We did some research, and I ended up purchasing a Lenovo Miix 320 2-in-1 for $200 (plus tax). It is a little smaller than the Surface, and a little slower (but at 20% of the cost, it should be). Sunday we got groceries.
This week is going to be a little hard to plan for because I am at an off campus training Wednesday morning, and am traveling this weekend. I have a job interview in CA, near my mom, on Friday, so am flying out on Thursday night, and then flying home on Sunday. I'll hang out with my mom and brother Friday afternoon/evening and on Saturday. I have no idea what I'll end up paying for and what I won't.

I know that I will have several spend days coming up as I have a craft weekend coming up and I know that involve hotel and other expenses. I have money put aside for it and think that I can cash flow it.

Tuesday went as planned. But on Tuesday, a wrench was thrown into Wednesday, so yesterday did not go as planned. I ended up buying lunch on campus. This morning I have gotten a Starbucks. Just calling Thurs-Sun CSDs. I spent less than $15 on any given day. I have dental work this week (starting today). I will owe my $50 deductible and 20% of costs. Not sure if I'll need to pay today (and Thursday) beyond the deductible, or if they will bill me.

Didn't have to pay on my dental bill yesterday, but my dentist wants me using Rx Toothpaste, so I picked that up and some low dose aspirin. Today I am on track for my NSD
