Not too much spending this week. Lunch out twice and a garage sale where I got things I can use in my crafts. Also another RX and a quick trip to pick up a few needed items at WW.
This coming week I know have a few upcoming spending days. *Trade show followed by lunch out *Gas *Grocery *Gathering with dinner out afterwards

Ugh, I am so mad at myself. I've been spending like a drunken sailor, as my mom puts it. Between the eating out and multiple trips to Walmart to stock the new house, I am dizzy with the spending. Not to mention the fact that I tapered hours at my last job and I'm starting my new one this week, so my final paycheck will be very tiny.
Nothing left to do but start fresh. I need to stop moving money around in ynab, because my categories for things like major car repairs/household repairs are dwindling as I cover my monthly buys. So I'm not going in the hole. Yet. But I know I need to shape up to reach my goals.

Used the $25 gift card I've had in my wallet forever to cover dinner on Friday night. Has a $15 rewards credit, so used that for snacks at the movie with Pop Tart on Sunday. So both of those ended up not costing me anything. I did take the car I'm going to sell in for an oil change and inspection last week, but the money for that was set aside already. And in the making better decisions category, I did not get Starbucks on Friday morning since I was going out to dinner that night. However, I am still failing in the executing better decisions category, as I have yet to buy my swimming pass.
Edited to add: My memory is going. We went and saw Geostorm on Saturday. It was a deliciously bad movie. I spent somewhere between $25-30 on ticket and lunch there.

Okay, plan for this week should be fairly quiet. I do need to buy a new electric kettle - my current one is leaking out the bottom - and new oven gloves - the Beagle has chewed the thumbs off both the ones I currently have. I will buckle down and get my swimming pass this week. I will, I will, I will. I have writing group on Sunday morning, so will have Sunday breakfast. But otherwise, looking at my various calendars, it should be a normal week. I'm going to put CostCo on the list for the weekend, but if it turns out the only thing I need is more almond milk, I can grab that at the grocery store.

Purchased my kettle and oven gloves via Amazon this morning. Got the $20 electric kettle (with over 1,300 reviews and a 4.5 star rating) in red instead of the $40 electric kettle in orange (with as many stars but many fewer reviews). I also got the cloth gloves vs the silicone gloves. The silicone gloves are only rated up to 480 degrees, whereas the cloth ones are rated up to 932 degrees. Do I cook a whole lot over 500 degrees, no, but sometimes it comes up.

Yesterday DD and I drove back home to make sandwiches and fries instead of taking ourselves to Panera. It felt really good to make a smart decision with money!

Ran to the bookstore today to pick up some postcards ($1.50). Turns out the new Philip Pullman book just got in, and was on display right next to the postcards. Guess who has a new book? It was all paid for on my campus card, so mostly just means that I'll skip having lunch on campus the next 2 weeks. Also got my Starbucks this morning.

I probably need to participate in this thread to be accountable for my spending. Maybe then I would know where all my money goes.

Spending this past weekend was a lot more manageable than the previous weekend! I have to total up the spending this morning, I do it all through Ynab.
On the plus side, I earned $80 through selling a piece of wall art and a small entertainment center on Craigslist. I could have pushed for more money on the entertainment center, but I like to see Craigslist as win-win for the buyer and me. I want to get rid of the pieces and make some extra cash, and I want to give the buyer a good deal. It bugs me to see people sell their used stuff for practically new prices. If people want to low-ball my already low prices, all I have to do is accept the price, ignore or tell them no thanks. I've almost always sold my stuff at listed price, because I start with great prices to begin with.

Still no swimming pass. I've been fighting this pain in my back and neck. There's no point in going to my MD about it, because at best they'll refer me to PT, which as a $50 copay (on top of the $30 copay to see the MD to begin with) and a 2 week minimum wait to get on the schedule. The problem in my neck and back is always tense muscles, and my medical insurance won't cover massage for pain relief. It's much simpler to just go to the walk in massage place down the road and pay $51-71 for a 30-60 minute massage (this includes tip). On Friday, I did not have pain free full range of motion in my neck, so I opted for a 60 minute massage. It helped considerably (along with the quality time I spent with a heating pad this weekend - including falling asleep with the heating pad on my neck last night). I want to be in better shape, but I also need to not be in constant pain. I am hoping that with more heating pad time this week, and remembering to take ibuprofen for the pain and any inflammation, I can get myself to a point where swimming for 30 minutes seems reasonable. Also last week, I found myself next to Qdoba (my favorite "fast food") one day at lunch time, so I got Qdoba.

Last week went as planned. This week will have a major spend as I am having some repairs done to the house. At least they were able to repair and not replace. Still have not done the large grocery stock up and I know that I shouldn't put it off too much longer.

WELCOME ilovedolphins! As you can probably tell, everyone here does things in the way that works best for them. Some people aim for No Spend Days, some people aim for staying within a certain amount set. I aim for staying on plan as much as possible. But whatever works for you, to keep control of your spending.
Nothing was spent on Monday. Tuesday I had an amazing dinner out with BFF and her wife. It is looking like we won't go see the new Thor movie this weekend - probably next, because of everyone's schedules. But so far, chugging along as planned. (No Starbucks for me this week. It's possible I will get both of my Starbucks for the week tomorrow, as it will be a 13+ hour day.)

I am a bad person full of excuses, but there will be no swimming pass this weekend. It has been a very long week with many nights out of the house, and it is going to be a busy weekend, so I plan to just go home and hang out with my puppies tonight. Of course this also means that the week has pretty much gone as planned. I've been too busy for it to be otherwise.
And I should note that the "Pop Tart visit" is not going to be some innocuous expense this week. I never know for certain what we'll do, because she has to agree to it, but, in fact, we are going to be buying a new bed. I am selling the bunk beds that were in her room (took up a ton of space because they are perpendicular, and limited in where they could be placed), and getting a more "grown up" bed, or maybe a day bed, to have in there. She has agreed to go furniture shopping with me to pick out the new bed, and possibly desk to put in there.
But, only one Starbucks (so far). I don't know that I'm going to need groceries beyond more bananas this weekend, and no movie this weekend, so at least there's that.

Okay, Pop Tart visit was cancelled, as she wasn't feeling well. I am probably going to order a new bed for her room this week (if I order the new one, that will make me get the old one cleared off and out of the room, right?). After looking at the furniture store, I think I'm just going to order a metal daybed frame (with trundle) from Amazon for about $250 (including tax). The metal frame will make it more versatile than either of the frames I saw at the furniture store, and be much less expensive.
I did get a mani/pedi on Saturday, but that's what the unplanned spending is for, and I stayed within budget. My hair appointment went well, and I have fun new hair.

Planning for the week. I only got Starbucks once last week, and given that this is a 4 day week (Friday off for Veterans' day), I'm going for only 2 this week. I've built it into my weight watchers routine, so I have the "points" to pay for it there, as well as the money. Going to aim for the swimming pass this week. I've been using the heating pad on my back in the evenings and on my neck when I go to bed, every night, and it's made a big difference. Hoping I am pain free enough to swim this Friday. Looking to spend around $250 on a new bed for Pop Tart's room this week. Sending $150 to C's BFF's family for 1) Monday Night Football tickets and 2) Early Holiday gift. Looking at ticket exchange, his ticket (which I am getting) would sell for minimum $75, and likely quite a bit more. But if I figure $75 for the ticket, and then $25 each (him, her, baby) for Holiday gifts, we're good. (And honestly, left on my own, I would totally spend more than $75 on just the baby at Christmas.)
Beyond that, plan to go see the new Thor this weekend.

Trying to decide if I'm going to get Starbucks today or tomorrow. I did buy myself a pair of earbuds with a microphone yesterday. My new work computer does not have speakers, and I also need something for hands free talking if I get a call while I'm driving. Not going to bet the swimming pass this week because of the hair. If I go in chlorinated water this week, pretty much ruin my pretty new dye job.

Just as I thought I have had a major spend since my last post. The current repairs on the house have been done and I used the cc to pay for it. I have the money in my account and will send it in asap but figured that by using the cc I will get my points which I will transfer in to cash back. I also did a mini stock up at the grocery. Still have several items to stock up on but I am good for now.

Got the Starbucks yesterday. Ordered a swim cap via Amazon (and paid with points - so no cost) this morning so I can't use my hair as an excuse after this week.
