YWell... at least, a few of them. It may not seem like much, but it is. The scale and quality of production has come a long way even in the last decade. We're starting to be "a contender", albeit still a lightweight. We're apparently quite advanced in the digital moviemaking department as well. Now if we could only stop all of our talented actors from defecting to the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. All I can say is: US Producers, step up your milking of old franchises and rebooting old ones that nobody wants rebooted. Hasten to your demise, and let the Day of Canada dawn on the horizon. Yeah, but we excel in comedy and documentaries. The Redd Green show?

Time to update this thread, as the headline caption is so out of date. Today we get the opportunity to listen to President Obama in Dallas. We get to wonder which President shows up. The Divider in Chief, or the President of the USA We have to start asking ourselves, is this country better off now than seven years ago? Economically, if you like your minimum wage job, yes. Politically and emotionally, heck no. Time to make America great again for all citizens. Legal ones in particular. You want America to be great right now? Persuade Republicans to do their f****** jobs!

If women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy!

"Divider in Chief". Nice buzzphrase but we won't be seeing VBs to back that up.

I loved Red Green too, while it was on the air. Some of the humour was positively brilliant.

Hey! If you want the credit there then make your own movies! With Canadian heroes! For Canadian audiences! Oh wait, that's the problem right there, isn't it? We make a lot of really good movies. However, they don't have explosions and car chases every five minutes. They don't appeal to Americans with their short attention spans. Porky's is my favourite mouvie ever!!

I loved Red Green too, while it was on the air. Some of the humour was positively brilliant. If you're going to talk about iconic Canadian comedy, it's The Kids In The Hall. THAT was brilliant. The best parody I've ever seen on TV was a "Street Cents" skit lampooning a Tim Horton's commercial. The original commercial, putatively a "real life story", featured an old man's golden retriever traveling to and from Tim's to pick up the man's doughnut and coffee from the drive-thru window. They played it for months on the major networks until everyone was sick of it. The parody starts out the same way, but after the dog grabs the bag from the drive thru, the tone changes and instead of the old man fondly talking about his dog, the camera jumps to an interview with the Tim Horton's staff. "That damned dog never pays for his doughnuts!" A Tim's employee roars. "We're gonna get that dog!" Long story short, the commercial ends with the dog being pursued by Tim Horton's employees in an actual attack helicopter. They're machinegunning the countryside all to hell and the dog is running for his life with the doughnuts. I was in tears by the end of it. In the very last scene, they cut back to the old man, who's lamenting, "Ol... Ol' ruffy don' bring me muh doughnuts no more." And then the slogan: "Tim Horton's. Pay for your f%#$ing coffee."

I liked Magnum P.E.I., with John Candy on the case of stolen potatoes.
