so does Cuba. but they will never be given any credit by US'ians for what they have achieved in their own modest way. Lol! We don't even get any credit in your movies! From rescuing your hostages to getting your astronauts back down to earth, the heroes in your movies are always Americans, even when they're not. USA! USA! Hey! If you want the credit there then make your own movies! With Canadian heroes! For Canadian audiences! Oh wait, that's the problem right there, isn't it?

It's just hard to make much money on them with a half-million dollar nationwide gross....

One of the best movies I've ever seen was made with $46,000. Okay, but what does that have to do with Canada or their ability to create good Canadian movies? And do you really think you can make a movie like that for $46,000 in Canada?

With all due respect, I loved Titanic and Good Will Hunting! In fact, I've seen Titanic several times. No idea what the budget was though. Guess I could look it up but not that interested
Edit: apologies for going off on a tangent. This isn't about just either a 46k movie or great Canadian movies

About $200,000,000. Yes, TWO HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS.

Damn! So the Canadian investors put together $200,000,000 for the movie? That's a huge chunk

Most if not all of the funding (to my understanding) was done by American film studios. And it was only partially filmed in Canada. Twilight, by the way, does not list any filming locations in Canada. Washington, Oregon, and California instead. I didn't check any of your other examples. Is that enough of a thread detour?

That (Twilight) was from some of the sequels, so yes, they screwed it up. The original was not. It also appears that your list is using a pretty loose definition of "filmed" in Canada. Finding Forrester is a great film but very little of it was apparently filmed there.

Canadian TV dramas have actually been... decent... in recent years. Well... at least, a few of them. It may not seem like much, but it is. The scale and quality of production has come a long way even in the last decade. We're starting to be "a contender", albeit still a lightweight. We're apparently quite advanced in the digital moviemaking department as well. Now if we could only stop all of our talented actors from defecting to the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. All I can say is: US Producers, step up your milking of old franchises and rebooting old ones that nobody wants rebooted. Hasten to your demise, and let the Day of Canada dawn on the horizon.

Yeah, but we excel in comedy and documentaries.

Lots of filming happens in Vancouver for both American movies and TV shows. The American version of The Killing, set in Seattle, was filmed in Vancouver.

Oops ... talking about movies made in Canada, just a few: Twilight Titanic Good Will Hunting Billy Madison Mean Girls Blades of Glory Hulk Made in Canada by American corporations because of cheap labor costs, in other words, the deportation of jobs to Canada from USA. Granted, some are filmed there for location purposes. Old cities looking like revolutionary Boston, or mid 1900 century American landscapes, because they never grew over the decades

Time to update this thread, as the headline caption is so out of date.
Today we get the opportunity to listen to President Obama in Dallas. We get to wonder which President shows up. The Divider in Chief, or the President of the USA
We have to start asking ourselves, is this country better off now than seven years ago? Economically, if you like your minimum wage job, yes. Politically and emotionally, heck no.
Time to make America great again for all citizens. Legal ones in particular.
