I just spent 5 hours working on the yard cranking tunes and dancing the whole time. I'm sure the neighbors aren't amused, but I'm not amused by my neighbors these days, so it's a wash. Of course, don't you know that when I was dancing my way to the driveway from behind the house to Jamiroquai's Virtual Insanity, I was quite surprised to find a Fed Ex truck in my driveway. The driver and I had ourselves a good laugh over my "dance" moves. Having a quick lunch now, charging my phone, and headed back out to continue working my way through the iTunes library on my phone. What were you wearing Covered in light-colored clothing from head to toe. Have pulled 2 ticks off of myself already, today. There is no way in heck I'd be gardening naked -- I'd be getting ticks in privates spaces.

Today's question: DD2 has been with me for over 24 hours straight, much of that time, touching me. How does she still have the capacity to say "Mom" every 23.5 seconds.

I'm going to take a minute and be grateful that ticks are the one creepy crawly I don't deal with (much) in my yard. There are ticks in Florida, just not very many in our area. But before you get too jealous, we have fire ants and killer bees. Today working in the yard, I got bitten by ants, mosquitoes and something gave me a weird rash on my arm - probably just an allergic reaction to something I touched. Good times.

Waffling back and forth about my hair. Natural: less $ to maintain, hair is healthier, takes more time to do, steep learning curve re: care/styling Straight: easy to style, more expensive to maintain. I'm truly at a crossroads.

I had to look up Everclear. Can you use it to strip off wallpaper? Dissolve grease from car engines? Pretty sure it would work for those things, but I use it to make Limoncello. When my lemon tree gives me a lot of lemons... I make Limoncello.
Most recipes call for using Vodka as the base, but I've found that Everclear is a much tastier base and the flavors of the lemons are brighter and fresher. I sometimes give homemade Limoncello out as gifts. For my friends with a sense of humor, I warn them not to drink it near open flame. For my friends who have a little less of a sense of humor or who are snooty about wine/spirits, I just smile inwardly and say nothing when they rave about what they're drinking.
Is there more of a recipe besides everclear and lemons? Asking for a friend...

I have gone with expensive and easy, although with my hair it is more of an issue of going in every six weeks for a trim and color touch up. How are you set up for time?

DD1 asked me why her brother only manages to get hit in his "private" area.
What's worse, is I immediately thought "oh, that would be great for this thread!"

Why do so many kids seem to hate math?
If the dog insists on sitting directly by (on) my feet, am i justified in using him as a footstool?

I'd have to get it straightened every 8 weeks. Could possibly stretch it to 9. Cost is about $120 a pop.

Why do little league baseball games take so long? Why not have a one hour time limit?

Why do little league baseball games take so long? Why not have a one hour time limit? It gets better. DS is 12 now, and his games are done in about an hour and a half. And they are like real games, too, with home runs and amazing catches.

I wonder... do asexual people have lots more time on their hands that isn't wasted on thinking about or trying to get physical companionship?

eta - depending on your cut, you might still have to pay to have it cut, but the relaxing part is really pretty easy.

really? I've only ever had my mom do it for me. Twice. I think it turned out okay each time but she swears the salon did it better. I think it's because I needed a trim each time and didn't get one.

Why do so many kids seem to hate math? 1.) It's a lot of memorization and what seems to be endless busy work assignments. 2.) It doesn't really tie into anything in real life (it's not particularly useful) 3.) Sometimes kids brains aren't 'done enough' to deal with some of the more abstract concepts in math. 4.) did I mention it seems to be all about busy work and stuff you'll never use? 5.) It's boring... in that sometimes a kid gets the easy stuff and then has to sit around being bored and told over and over and over again about the stuff they already grasp... before it all moves on to the next topic. And then when a 'hard' topic comes up - the exhaustion from being bored makes it even HARDER to work on the hard bits Where if it all would have moved a bit faster some interest and 'caring' might have remained to help get thru the harder bits.
All the reasons I hated math as a kid. Yes. You can use your dog as a footstool. I use my cat as a pillow when she insists on sleeping on my pillow during the night. She usually puts up with it. She's always free to move to a different spot on the bed (or even a different pillow that I'm not currently using). Your dog can move if they are unhappy with being a footstool.

Are ruffies used as a drug to combat insomnia? Would they be cheaper? How many nights I would have loved to be completely knocked out. DH would be there to save me if something happened like fire, tornado, etc.

I learned how to do it as a teenager, so I don't remember whether I thought it was easy or not in the beginning. I got so good at it, family and friends would ask me to do theirs. I relaxed my own hair more often than I paid someone to do it until I was in my 30's. Since it does involve chemicals that can burn your scalp and/or damage your hair, I wouldn't take it lightly, but I'm sure you can learn to do it. Just make sure you use good products and the minimal strength needed to straighten your hair.

Do screws actually screw and multiply like rabbits? I have decided to start on fixing up the basement this summer. It's cooler and I have access to the yard if I desire to do yardwork. But HOLY HELL, the screws on the workbench are frickin' ridiculous! I have no idea where they colme from. and don't even get me started on curtain rod brackets and picture hangers. OY!
