... I just do not understand why Trump had to go there. ... I guess it worked, but does it help to kick your opponent in the privates when they are already beaten and in pain? Trump is a bully. There is obviously something in the psychological make-up of a bully that kicking a downed opponent "helps". I don't understand it, but I have witnessed it enough to know it exists. On another political thread on the board here, I just said everyone can relax now. After Trump has basically won the nomination, we can all agree Hillary Clinton is our next President. I will not like it, but I am a realist.

Okay, maybe it is a suspension. He just thanked Carly for being an incredible running mate. Yeh, for what, like five days? "The path has been foreclosed". I bet he blames Wall street bankers for foreclosing on him!

But that's your opinion. I watched and didn't see anyone being crushed. I saw Cruz talking to a brick wall, which is generally ill-advised. Yes its true Trump supporters don't want Cruz, but that's not a take down.
To me it was at best a draw, nothing useful was learned unless you like watching Trump supporters abandon logic and someone trying to debate someone who prefers emotional arguments and small sound bites. Man on the street reminded me more of stupid Obama supporters that you find in videos more than anything else. Cruz sounded decent for part of the time, lied about guns & liberal judges, and stayed for a no win conversation longer than he should have.
The thing is Cruz thought he could out debate a man in the street, and he was incorrect in that assumption. Remember, Cruz went to them, crossing the street for a dramatic photo op. He got it Remember the old adage, never ask a question you do not know the answer to? He forgot that one. I don't know what Cruz thought, but we agree on believing it should have been avoided.

In post #8 I wondered whether Hillary not campaigning in Indiana being a mistake...... MSNBC just declared Sanders the winner with 53% of the vote. I know she will get the nomination, but again, this shows Hillary is very vulnerable. Indiana will go Republican this fall, and Obama was able to win here. She will not.

Indiana is no longer an official far right red state. They voted for the most far left candidate to ever run in recent history on the Democratic ticket, and for Trump that might run left of Hillary Clinton on the Republican ticket.
I have to say I am proud of Indiana tonight. They got both primaries right tonight and kicked both parties in the behind by backing two people who are not part of party hacks.

Tonight Cruz may a rather dignified speech after his meltdown from earlier in the day. Please note he never mentioned Republican party tonight. He talked about the conservative movement which he will continue to work with. Over all, a good consolation speech even if he never ever mentioned Trump once. After today's speech, I think that was all anyone could expect. I think he might have salvaged his political future tonight. If he continued on after today's meltdown, he would already have been a footnote in party politics.

Digger Phelps and Lou Holtz let Indiana down tonight. Cruz won the area by 1% over Trump. They both came out for Trump.

This year I've been looking at vote totals for the primaries. It surprises me sometimes how low they are. Interesting thing about the Democratic primary. 2008 had roughly double the votes cast. While this is a big win for Sanders, I do wonder if part of it is the college kids came out to vote and more Clinton supporters stayed home this round.
politics.nytimes.com/election-guide/2008/results/states/IN.html
Hillary Rodham Clinton 641,734 50.7% Barack Obama 623,294 49.3

Vote total in the ballpark of 620,000 today.

We will have to wait and see how heavy the black voter demographic was today. Hillary should have gained huge margins in northwest, northeast, and Marion county Indiana as well as the Muncie area with the black vote. Lafayette, South Bend and Bloomington have large college populations that probably went to Sanders.

The last few polls nailed Trump's margin of victory very accurately. They said it was 15% and he slightly beat that.

JEB! still received 5,500 votes yesterday. MAYBE HE CAN BE AN ALTERNATIVE AFTER ALL! Amazing how many people wasted theirballot on people no longer in the race. Yes, I know a vote is never wasted, but sometimes becomes, shall we say, not really important. I hope everyone can open the primary results, and see the final numbers. Worked for me.
Highlights, it looks like the black vote in Lake county stayed home. Bernie was almost competitive with Hillary in the county. My thought that Cruz could win my district proved to be wrong. Even in far right Laporte county (on Republican side only) he lost to Trump. Trump did win Porter county easily.

I think a primary is a perfect time to let your party know you aren't behind one of the top candidates. And in this case since Trump was predicted to win it, what is the value of casting your vote for Trump or Cruz if you really prefer someone else?
Ben Carson got more votes than Jeb per your link.

I posted the results for you due to your earlier comments. Most here are probably not interested what minority group voted for who and how much. Lake county has a high concentration of black and Spanish American (Mexican and Puerto Rican) Democratic voters. This is probably the first state where black Democratic voters did not come out in large numbers for her. Is this a trend, or did they think she had the primary in the bag? I only mentioned JEB! because if you might remember in a time long long ago, I was backing JEB! JEB! was my first choice. I wanted Romney as the VP. Just pointing out how fast I was taken out of this race Please remember for future reference I also backed Christie after JEB! was reduced to a footnote. I also have previously mentioned I liked Kasich as a VP, and now am wondering whether it will be Christie, Rubio or Kasich filling out the ticket. Today I hear rumblings of former Governor Daniels might be vetted. My preference is still Kasich or Christie to help win states in the east and rust belt this fall. Christie could be the attack dog needed to go after the Clinton's.

I saw this morning Trump is only trailing Hillary Clinton by 11% in a national poll. I thought it was closer to the high teens.
This race may be a lot closer than anyone thought.

Major mass media had Cruz taking Indiana. Trump was not the favorite until recently. the media are followers. 538 had him as the winner until recently. those guys know what they are doing. but the last week swung heavily in Trumps favor. i think that April 26th was kind of it. Trump slaughtered the other guys on the 26th, and the voters of Indiana figured it was all over, even though it wasn't.
