Over the last five years I've gotten almost obsessively interested in the Supreme Court. I don't know why either as I'm not much intetested in most legal stuff.

I'm not on Facebook and I don't have a smartphone. It's a wonder to most I can survive at all. I can do you one better on the smart phone -> I lost my dumb phone around Xmas sometime, replaced it with a smart phone and promptly turned all features off. So now I have ... a dumb phone disguised as a smart phone (yes I do know how to turn the internet back on if I need to) and there are about a dozen people in the world I have given my number to. That phone is for MY convenience, not for everyone to disrupt whatever I am doing whenever they feel like it My brother bought me a droid a year & a half ago & added me to his family plan because he worried about me not having a phone in case of an emergency. I have made exactly one call on it & that was to him. Not an emergency but a warning that the road was washed out in a certain area. I dutifully carry it with me in case my car breaks down or whatever but I never use it. I also don't do face book & don't watch reality TV with 3 exceptions & they are really bad ones. Housewives of OC; Married at First Sight & Survivor.

I cringe every time I hear it ring or a tone that I've received a text. I'm not an ER doctor or an EMT - I'm not "on call" people! Stop interrupting my music. Nine times out of ten it's my kids but I've purposely made the habit of NOT responding right away (unless it truly is an emergency). That just sets a bad precedence and then everyone expects it. Now they know I'll respond whenever I'm done with whatever I'm doing and if I'm driving then they will have to wait until I get to my destination.

I have no interest in social media. I do have an FB page but rarely go there. I have linkedin because I feel like I need it for professional reasons. I have no desire to receive flowers. It is a bunch of money for something that is just going to die in a few days. BF has learned to send me cookies, cupcakes, edible arrangement, etc. if he wants to send me anything. I get a lot more enjoyment from eating and sharing the goodies with my co-workers/friends. Like Archie, I don't go to rock concerts. One reason is they have gotten ridiculously expensive but the other is the fact that I don't care for the crowd. I would rather spend the money on live theatre. I don't get Nascar (think someone else said that too). I have a smartphone but rarely use it to go online. I would much rather use my tablet to check emails, etc. I have no desire to "be connected" 24/7. I will hear people at conferences talking about how they check emails at 3AM . I am not sure if they are just saying this or if it is really true. I don't get reality TV. I would much rather be entertained by professional actors than those looking for their 15 minutes. Not a fan of buffets. I will eat them if I am with a group in Vegas and outvoted, but they are not really my thing.

LOL I got you beat. Mine is 3200 square feet and there are 4! One of which my ex husband put up. When I built the place I just went with neutral EVERYTHING. The carpet is beige, the walls all off white, the appliances bisque, the counters just beige. I had zero decorating skills so just went plain with everything. It looks like somebody just moved in. No window coverings, the steel doors are just primer, no paint. I did get the bug a little when I redid younger son's room with that navy blue wall and minion theme. I might have to get bold and paint some this Summer! lol! you and I must be related! When I built my house my décor was exactly the same! I actually hired a decorator to come and put together the family room because it was awful. he didn't realize we built the house and made a comment about the god awful carpet the original owners put in...umm, I picked that out!LOL
I have since sold that house and the new owners had it listed not long ago. the wife had a major flair for decorating and the house looks gorgeous now....now I want to buy it back!lol
DS13's best friend told his mom he likes our house better than his because it's so 'empty'. I think I have 1 picture somewhere. No curtains (blinds). I'm trying to do better!

I'm a rotator. I rotate the towels in the towel drawers, the canned goods, the laundry. Especially the laundry. I have it organized by color and water temperature. Is was the baskets from left to right in a certain order, I do not deviate from this order. Yeah, I know. I'm weird.

For me it's the opposite. I'm into things that no one else is. I'm a 80 yo stuck in a 40 year old's body. My idea of a good time is knitting, cross stitching, or diving in to a Beethoven Symphony. I'm on facebook, but only to join an English Paper Piecing group. Oh, and I got a coupon off of there once. Seriously, when I go to my retreats or stitch-ins, I'm the youngest by 15-40 years. It used to be worse when I was in my 20s. I'm not really quick to embrace technology. The only reason I got a smart phone is so that I can get last minute emails about practices being cancelled due to weather. Yas! Friends?! We can knit and listen to Beethoven together (what do you play, again? I'm sure you've mentioned it before but I don't remember) I'd rather be camping/hiking or at the beach for fun than getting schwasted at a bar or something, even though once in a while I will - just not huge into drinking. I missed at least a few "girly" genes even though I do like shopping - I feel like I never have much clue on style or clothes, but I look ok usually. Don't do makeup much, even though I like trying it when I do wear it - just don't care enough. I'm weird about plenty of things in other, more internal/invisible ways related to what's probably a hint of OCD. Lining stuff up, certain numbers/ways of wanting tactile things done, I feel the need to even out a pain or cold sensation on both sides of my body (example: I run my shin into the bed post, I want to do the same to the other shin and sometimes do it on purpose). Weird stuff like that.

Oh! I thought of one--I don't like to listen to music in the car. I get these awful earworms that drive me nuts. (My DS was just watching an episode of SpongeBobthat illustrated it fairly well this morning. ). It's not so bad if the music is complex enough and I'm unfamiliar enough with it that it won't be stuck on repeat in my head for days. Simple pop music is the worst.

I built my house 10 years ago and the walls are still white. I tell myself it looks bigger and cleaner that way.

I don't get why there has to be snacks/drinks for the team at every flippin' kid sports event. There are sign-up sheets for this stuff to be sure no game is missed and that all parents do their part. Ugh.....I participate since my kids are on the team, but OMG stop with the snacks/treats/drinks. Recently, a parent asked about bringing snacks for the kids after practice. Noooooooo!!!! Take your kid home and feed them if they are hungry. Sorry, this really bugs me.

So, my theory is that our brains can only excel at so many things and can only retain so much information at any one time. So, while I LOVE sports and definitely cheer for my hometown team, I really am not into football. Both sons even played Pop Warner and one played high school football. I went to the boys' games and mostly socialized. It's not the contact nature of the sport because I played ice hockey and personally love a good, hard, check. I just think the "play" nature of football makes it a little too choreographed to be a true example of athleticism. I'm so disinterested, I don't even know the names and roles of all of the positions. I do, however, like the tight pants on the really fit guys. Don't flame me. As I said above, my brain is overwhelmed with lacrosse stats and ingredient labels and with trying to stay one step ahead of any high school senior shenanigans. I am certain that, if I had the cognitive space, I would love football. Or, maybe not even then. (GRG runs ducking out of the thread.) lacrosse guys are hot. I am a nerd about astronomy... it really does fascinate me. Not necessarily the space exploration, but learning about everything that happens to celestial bodies, the space/time continuum, black holes, etc. It's awesome to me. From 1-10, my interest is about 9. Ancestry: interest is about a 5. I did discover that my mother's father's family was living in the northeast well before slavery ended, so that was pretty cool. They were farmers or farm hands. Star Wars: 0 Harry Potter: -2 Lord of the Rings: -50

Another one. I'm super lazy. So, if we buy things to hang on our walls, they sit around for months (one time over a year) before we put them up because DH sucks at doing it and I'm too lazy.
I also don't care if things match (my clothes being the exception). So I bought my couch one place, my chair another, my sheets are cheep-ies from Target, the bedspread was on clearance at BBB and doesn't match the sheets, the dishes are hand-me-downs from grandma, and the cups are all tervis tumblers with different pictures on them. NOTHING MATCHES! I'd rather spend my money on fun things (work clothes, running shoes, vacations) than on brand new matching towels/sheets/furniture.

If kids can't go an hour or 2 without a snack--no wonder why there's an obesity epidemic!

The parents are STILL providing the post-game tailgate meal at home AND away games. I participate when I can, but we live 8 hours away on a good day and tend to just stay home and watch the live stream of the game. Besides, what am I paying all of that tuition for? Shouldn't game food be included in the $50K??!!

not to mention THESE BOYS ARE ADULTS NOW!!! They can handle their own dang food!!! He knows how to make egg sandwiches now..... riiiiiiight?!?? I haven't had a chance to show him how to make them in a microwave, yet. But, I did find some really cool, large, Corning Ware mugs with plastic covers that would be perfect for scrambled eggs, microwaved omelets, etc. I am hoping to get a chance to show him during the next few weeks. He's a busy guy. (Before you all tell me he should know how to read a recipe and be able to teach himself, remember: we don't have eggs in my house at all or eat them in my house due to YDS' anaphylactic allergy to eggs. So, ODS' experience with eggs is limited to eating those prepared for him by others (restaurants, dining halls, etc.). He needs a quick primer on how to properly crack an egg from his mother. Do NOT take this experience away from me -- I've waited years for it. )

What I call 'things that sit there'... So most decorating things... Sure, maybe one or two exceptionally beautiful things, but even then I mostly prefer practical. I don't get why I would want to have a lot of stuff that just sits and needs to be cleaned.
Don't get scrapbook ing. Don't get those paint classes where everyone goes and paints exactly the same thing.
I'm sorry. I know I'll get slammed for this, but I personally don't have the 'pets as people' gene.
I'm sure I'll think of more later.

He absolutely understands English, AND he asks us for things with distinctive noises, LOL. We didn't teach him any of that. Okay, so add to my list that I am weird about dogs, because the first step in recovery is admitting you have a problem.

I don't have a desire to procreate- never felt it, not even a smidge, never once. This makes me a rarity among women. I never wanted a wedding- i think the "day all about me" is nuts. shell out thousands to feed and entertain other people. that isn't about YOU, that's about them. We had a wedding, a very casual one. It wasn't THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE and nothing really changed when we got married except the tax break. I love my husband, but I loved being single too. Don't get that "Need" to be with someone? again, rarity among women. SCI-FI or Fantasy stuff is lost on me. Designer labels- the worst offender is the designer logo handbags- they scream "cheaped out on the lowest grade bag I could get from this designer" why would I want a bag covered in Cs? don't we know what the C -word is? I can be just as happy with a cole haan bag as I can with something from Target- if it is cute it is cute, i don't care what the label says! I don't like flowers delivered. I do like flowers from the farmer's market or local store that I can display at home. But don't send anything to my office. I don't do valentines day. I don't care for fast food. I don't care for diamonds. I do love to crochet. It is therapeutic and i have about 25 merino wool scarves that i have made for myself and I LOVE THEM! Old lady at 35! I love to color I love my damn dog. seriously, he is awesome. I don't want a kid, but i need my dog! I love vacation/travel photos. Most people hate other people's photos, i want to see it all, hear all the details. SHOW ME! I love sending snail mail. I love chopping vegetables- find it therapeutic I love organizing and unpacking.
