I got that, thanks. Credit hours are something different, seems like 3-5 credit hours per (semester) class for most classes? That’s the conversion factor I’m looking for. I’ve never attended a place that used them so they don’t make much sense to me The listing wanted 30 credit hours for my major, hopefully 13 quarters will cover it! Equivalent work experience also counts of which I have decades also 6 credit hours each in math and physics. I had 5-6 quarters of each, not counting AP credits; one would hope that would suffice. Still not sure I want the job and it’s likely they have an internal candidate in mind. Just don’t want to be ruled out on an incorrect technicality. I find it interesting that your places of schooling didn't use credit hours. Both universities did for my bachelor's and master's. Usually it was 3 credits for a normal class that met either 1hr on MWF or 1.5 on TTh or 4 credits for a class that included a lab. My transcripts are broken out showing how many credits were assigned to each class, so I could easily total up how many credits were in my major. Could you request a transcript and see if that would help? Transcript just shows 1 credit per class I don’t expect it’s a major deal. But ya, sounds like credit hours are basically hours of lecture? With some fuzzy logic for lab classes? Some of the more advanced classes were basically lab only…I couldn’t do marching band past sophomore year because of the lab requirements. If they really want to get picky I suppose I could have included graduate school classes. I think those are also single credit per class, semester basis. These are big name top fifteen schools, but I am old Most places wouldn’t bother with my transcripts or college record at this point.

I haven't encountered a job that wanted my actual credit hours in decades they just want to know I have a bachelor's in a science field. It's just assumed since I graduated I cleared the bar on credit hours. Most people will assume it was 3-4 credits a class you should be fine. Non-lab classes were usually 3 credit hours. Lab classes were 4 to count for the lab practical. Honestly at this point I'd side eye companies wanting my transcripts or credit numbers. Either at this point my resume/experience and a background check showing I did indeed attend and graduate from Simpson are enough or they aren't. If they aren't I think you got bigger issues going on as a company than whether or not I completed 16 hours of physics.

When I attended Simpson it was during their experiment with no required courses for all graduates. Required courses were only in your major. We got 1 credit for what would be 3 hour class. 40 credits to graduate, I think.
I got a much broader education by being able to pick so many courses that I would not have been able to had the school had all graduates requirements.

I called my mom yesterday and brought up all the mess of relocating DS in a couple weeks knowing full well she would insist on taking over....which she did. Have at it mom! Her and my aunt are taking DS to Springfield for a few days next week to look at the apartment he applied for in person and get a feel for the area. He was going to go by himself, but this is better because she'll pay for everything and they'll think of 100 things he never would. He seemed pretty grateful Also, crisis averted on the application because they absolutely insisted on income verification and he has none, if using a cosigner they had to have 6X rent to qualify which I don't, but his dad does and agreed to give them his info. Otherwise he was going to have to get an Air BNB or something for a month or so first until he had actual paychecks. He never had to provide proof of income for either apartment in Minneapolis and they were some high dollar rentals. It must just be because of the large student population around where he was.

They actually did this today after he was able to talk to a real human and not the automated application that was forcing him to link bank account info and he was approved just on that. The issue he's having now is they don't think they can get him in for an in-person tour before move in week due to to it being occupied and not having any empty units. Grandma ain't gonna like that! She's going to be knocking on people's doors asking if they can "just look around a little".

The two large complexes where I lived had a model that I could see. It was a representative model. They did not have models for each floor plan.
I know I would have told someone who wanted to look at my place, to go far away.

(maybe even the same weekend?) It's kind of like the curse of the Monkey's Paw though. Be careful what you wish for! DS is experiencing that right now as he is on day 2 of "Grandma's Historical Tour of Springfield".
But, 10 days after his job offer he has a signed lease in a "grandma approved" neighborhood, a new car, knows his way around and already has a favorite restaurant and park within walking distance of where he's going to live, found a good Asian market and where Raising Canes and Papa Murphys is . The last hurdle is moving him next week and maybe getting him some furniture.
Then I can move on to helping him decide what to do with his benefits options. Haven't even started looking at any of that yet.

Got DS moved in and he seems happy with Springfield so far. It's definitely still the honeymoon stage though and I think there are some things that are going to start to bug him. For starters, he likes to bike and this town is not set up for safe biking, in fact from a little googling, it seems the drivers are outright hostile towards pedestrians and bikers, so that's a shame. I can attest that the drivers are just hostile in general. They seem way too bent out of shape for people in a city that you can get from one side to the other in 20 minutes. I guess I was surprised that the capital city in a deep blue state wouldn't be more about "going green" and walking/biking. I hardly saw any EVs in the 4 days we were there either which was odd because they're all over my small town where there are Trump signs everywhere.

When I wanted to bike, I rarely biked in town. I threw my bike in the car and drive outside the city and rode on country roads. It was one more step to biking, but it was considerably safer than biking in town. I did find a route near my apartment where I only had to cross one major road. It was largely residential, in a pretty high end neighborhood. One loop through the whole neighborhood was 5 miles and it was 3 miles to get there, so if I got home early from work and it was nice out, I could do a couple loops and get an easy 16 miles in. I made friends with a couple dogs along the way. The ‘deep blue’ state is only deep blue because it has Chicago. This is a LOT like why NY is blue, because of NYC. If you go outside of NY, rural NY is deep red but the rural population is not sufficient to override that big of a city.

There are other blue areas in Illinois. I live in one. If you look at a red-blue map, the rural areas are pretty red but there are comparatively few voters there. But we blue voters do appreciate the Chicago area voters. Springfield shows "leans blue" on the map.
There are quite a few EVs here in town. You may find more EVs in certain areas of Springfield, like near the campus (which is probably more accommodating to bicyclists). Rivian manufactures its EVs in Bloomington, not far down the road from Springfield.

Unfortunately, he does not have a bike rack for his car. He biked all over Minneapolis and while you had to be careful, there were bike lanes and traffic was used to people on bikes and walking everywhere. We hardly saw anyone walking or on a bike in all 4 days there. It sure seemed blue by the political signs. There were Harris signs everywhere and Trump ones were rare which is about the exact opposite from my county. Looking at the political leanings map, both counties are purple.

How do you like his new apartment?

It's pretty nice and he has tons of space for just him with two bedrooms and a big living room with nothing in it but his bike and a recliner and book shelf. It's an older complex but well maintained and in a quiet neighborhood. He's on the upper level so after lugging a recliner up two narrow flights of stairs he decided he didn't want a couch. 🤣
I'm worried he won't make friends. He did in college but thats because they were forced together. He spends all his time gaming online and doesn't go out and interact with people.

My bike fit in the back of my Sentra when I disconnected the front wheel and laid down the back seat. Otherwise, bike racks are cheap.

I don't see it fitting in his trunk at all, but he's 6'2" so has a 21 inch frame bike. It's pretty big. We were going to have a hitch installed before he left, but the only quote we got was from the dealership for over $1000 and that was a big hell no. I have a trunk mount one that we used to haul it down on the van. I should have just left it there, but he didn't think he'd use it because he was afraid it would scratch up his new car. Maybe he'll change his mind.

I'll send him these links, but he probably won't check out the first one as he's pretty anti-Facebook and doesn't have an account, but I know he'll head to that store. I also sent him a link to an astronomy group that meets once a month and he said he'd join that too. He brought his big telescope with him so having a group that knows where the best spots are to stargaze would be awesome. I hope he actually does it.

It was the car I got rid of after my hip surgery because I couldn’t get the seat back far enough to not have to angle my leg painfully. When I pulled the backseats flat, my bike fit in there nicely. My bike is a men’s bike. Not sure as to the frame size but it’s pretty large.

My 2013 fits both our bikes without taking the wheels off; husband's 2018 will fit bikes of you take the front tire off. Reason 1,876 why I will be driving my car into the ground. Those couple of inches of cargo space make a big difference! Husband is 6'1", btw.

I found an access point to one of the trails 1.7 miles from his apartment. He'd have to cross one major road but there are lights there and sidewalk it for one of the streets, but I think he can get there fine. The trail is 38 miles long, so plenty of safe biking after he gets past that first little chunk.

Ah, I misread your remark about having a hatchback. Glad he has trail access! That's one of the things I love about where I live.
