I think that they just didn't have a store for him, and he was too expensive to keep around like they were, so they looked for any excuse they could find to cut him loose.

So I went to talk to the manager at that job. They want me to cold call all day long. I don't do that. So we mutually agreed that it's not a good fit.

Or he generally liked Cawaii and is happy he landed on his feet so fast. Somehow I think cawaii is a very likleable guy in real life. I do as well. But, I thought this was the guy who was making Carl's life miserable over the past 6 months or so...I could be wrong... I don't quite know the background either. However, when I was laid off a few years ago it was awful for me, but it saved money for the company and the decision was made by multiple people. After reading this thread for the last year, I feel lucky for how professional they were about laying me off (instead of cooking up BS reasons to fire me, as seems to be the norm these days). Two of the three people who probably made the final call offered to provide references for me and one of them still randomly endorses my skills on LinkedIn. BTW, I also had the same sort of relieved by not enthusiastic response when I found a new job a few weeks later. In that job I eventually ended up being the manager who was being pressured to fire someone for BS reasons. Still, after what happened at my last job, I had already started tracking my expenses really closely to make sure I would be okay if I suddenly lost that income. Workplace dynamics are tricky, but I suspect at least some of TheHaitian's former managers are annoyed about him getting fired.

I've been horribly sick and I haven't made the effort to post.
My phone interview went really well on friday. They had some people out sick so instead of talking with hr, I talked to the guy who would be my boss. Went pretty well. They have been outsourcing and are just getting large enough to want someone in house. He has been doing some of the stuff itself, but admits he's done a bunch wrong. It's sounds pretty interesting and he seemed excited so I think that's good. You could hear his wheels spinning as the discussion went on.
Next step, I have to take a timed accounting test. I have no idea what that will be, but hoping it's a "do you really know what you are doing" verses a mini cpa exam.

DH has an interview with the recruiter in a half hour. We'll see if it works out better for him to go thru a recruiter than it did for me. I have a presentation in a half hour. I am still sick. I sound terrible and I am so congested I can barely hear. This should be interesting.

I think the ones that recruit for what i do really have no clue what it is they are recruiting for. I also think I was unlucky in that they were fishing, there weren't jobs for me out there but they wanted me on file so if there was one they could pimp me out and hopefully collect their fee.
We are 99% sure that this is the dairy since everything lines up with what DH read on their web site. If that is the case then we know that an actual position currently exists and is open.
Hopefully he nails it and moves onto the actual company. He's been preparing his answer in case they remember they called him previously and want to know what happened. He told me he never mentioned that he had taken a job with OS, just that he had accepted A job.
So if they ask he simply plans to tell them that the job fell thru and he's back to looking. They don't need to know all the dirty laundry involved.

Eh, I don't think it's a big deal if it's for an internal posting. Especially if you are salaried. I'm assuming that won't keep you from doing what needs to be done?

How bad is it to work on your resume while at work? For what would be an internal transfer/promotion? I don't expect I will but some days it's tempting! Depends, are they going to notice? My PI in the college of pharmacy had no problems with me working on it and applying for jobs while at work since he knew I had to. All hell would have broken loose if my PIs at BT had found out I was looking before I had a job offer in hand so I didn't do anything at work if possible. DH had his interview with the recruiter and has been moved on. He has another interview at 2:00 today. Fingers crossed! Got done with my presentation. It didn't go badly but there is SO MUCH information I don't have since I wasn't here when these lines were brought in and a colony was started. There are a lot of gaps in my knowledge but I am the one that is expected to troubleshoot. Fortunately I work with insanely smart people and they're walking me thru what to do.

But I have no issue with taking a chunk of change from the owners since I know they aren't willing to do anything.

I'm sure they would let me do on weekends and evenings. Really, they wouldn't have much choice. The way they are doing it, it's going to be a hot mess. No way you could have someone come in and do the accounting without knowing the interworkings. So our cpa's would be little help and very expensive. I have access to the systems from home, so it would be fairly easy to do from home and pick up stuff on weekends. They would just have to let me know in advance what crap they need. But part of me really just wants to say up yours and leave them stranded. I can think of quite a few things that will cost them some of their precious funds if they don't get done. If they weren't so greedy and treating their employees like crap, I might have some loyalty. But they are doing this so stupidly, I'd like to spend as much of their cash as possible. Apparently, I'm a petty and vindictive person. See I've learned something about myself.
