I'm thinking they hope you find a job and just leave on your own I would love to do that but it seems professional jobs do not work that way anymore. Between a phone interview and a in person interview usually 2-3 weeks have lapsed by... So even if you were THE candidate, perfect in all ways; it would take you on a minimum of 1 month I say from the time you apply for the job and the time you actually got a firm offer letter! That is on average, I am just there is exception to the rule. The only 2 interviews I've had I am still waiting for an invite for a second interview.

um carl, my former coworker was on unpaid admin leave for roughly 5-6 weeks. Because I was nosy, I asked a friend in admin for updates a couple of times and no one knew a damn thing. So I suspect there was a good 3 weeks or more of no contact. I also don't think they were investigating for the full time either. Wow!!! By 5-6 weeks I would hope he had find another job or be seriously looking/interviewing more so that it was an "unpaid" one. Can you apply for unemployment if it is an unpaid administrative leave? I'm told we denied his ue claim as he was fired for cause. I've had no contact with him since the day before his leave started in early November so I didn't get his side. Or a good explanation of what happened. I'd hope he started job hunting right away. We started getting calls from his mortgage company a couple weeks into it so his financials were obviously a mess to start with.

I hope you find a new job really soon - you need to cut ties with your current company.

I told her due to my obligations I would probably swallow my pride and take the job but I would keep on looking. She doesn't understand why... I do not want to work for that company anymore; I just do not!

I'd suspect that no news may be good news in this circumstance. If they had something sure fire, you'd have heard by now. As Lena says, I may be wrong. I've been wrong before. That may be true but wouldn't they want me back to work or fired ASAP since I am on a "paid" administrative leave? A friend said : you are getting paid so you are basically on vacation. I used to think that when I heard some employees were on paid administrative leave.... Now I know different. You cannot enjoy that time because of the unknown, do you have a job? Don't you? You spend your whole time just thinking about it! Today is 1 week and I have more gray hair than I had last week, I cannot do months of this! Might be just stringing you along to make a point with you. You will come back a little humbler and tow the company line hard. OR if they knew you were job looking, it's an incentive for you to jump ship and get out of Dodge. Is there any chance they are worried you might sue them for something?

I do not want to work for that company anymore; I just do not! I can't blame you, I wouldn't want to stay with that company any longer than I had to. That is exactly how I feel! I understand how she feels because I bring in 65% of our total income and losing that is freaking her out because we don't know what we would replace it. I am adult enough to understand I do not need to love my job but I also do not want to be at a job where I feel there is a constant target on my back! Change is hard for everyone and I would not put my family through any unnecessary hardship but I would still fly to VA for that second interview and accept the job if offered; or maybe stick around a bit longer to see what comes up longer! But I would definitely keep on looking!

Yep the above 2 are valid points. As for the last one I think that is what they might be doing: HR/legal and operations meeting to see what is the best move! I am the Only minority store manager (point 1) What they are accusing me of doing wrong many other managers have done it (point 2) I can point out to all the managers I know that have done it and kept their job while I am being terminated (point 3). So might be a possibility and I made it known I fully intended to go through the appeal process if I were to be terminated and that goes all the way up to the Board of Directors.

The lord is good! We are at the IVF clinic now and just got this email... And I am man enough to admit I almost cried: "Good morning Carl: X, the District Manager, would like to schedule an interview with you for the Store Director positions for Tuesday, January 26th at 10:00am at the X store" This is the store that would not require relocation and the one I did not think the phone interview went that well! I also did name drop

We started getting calls from his mortgage company a couple weeks into it so his financials were obviously a mess to start with. Grocery stores seem to be a totally different world to me. I have worked at more than a few places and seen lots of people fired before but none like the GC does! They do this odd thing called "indefinite suspension". In one case I think it worked out exactly as they wanted. The clerk in question stopped caring about their job there and got a new one somewhere else. I am not sure the clerk was happy but everyone did more on. In the second case the clerk was indefinitely suspended for what should have caused her to be fired IMO. For some reason not known to me they never moved to firing her just left her hanging there suspended. Well in that case instead of finding a new job she fell and badly broke her leg. She had to have surgery, have pins and rods put in. Has been in physical therapy and filed for disability since she hadn't actually been fired from there yet. People were all gossiping and going on about how it was unfair of her to get disability since she clearly someone who should have been fired eventually. IMO if they really didn't want to assume that responsibility they should have done what they should have done immediately, fire her and have it over. Instead they tried to be too smart by half and got burned instead.

So glad you've got an interview for the local job, Carl! I know you've said that's what you'd prefer. I'll be thinking of you and keeping my fingers crossed.
I wouldn't give a royal yahoo what they said about an attorney! I'd damned well have one involved in a case like this and I'd be getting advice at each step along the way. My attorney might not be able to be there with me when I'm talking to the company but he can damned sure be the "angel on my shoulder" by advising me of the best courses of action. CYA is REAL!

A promotion, or transfer on good terms, go on in the morning, bad break ups occur right before end of day. HR wants to clear the desk of a bad issue and make a clean break, so they sleep well over the weekend. You, not so much. Hope I am wrong, and good luck.

Oh wait. ..
I totally agree with everyone else, screw what the company prefers. They are looking out for their best interest, not yours.

It will be devastating but at least I would know.
