That's ok. Thing 2 had leftover shepherd's pie from last night and I had an orange. Your diet is way better than mine.

Hey you got a vegetable and a fruit in him. I call that a win.
I had some of the stir fry from last night and mashed potatoes in the fridge from earlier this week. I'm baking pumpkin bars for dessert.

I never made it to the grocery store this afternoon, so we are each on our own. I nuked some of the garlic mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy from earlier this week and made a chicken salad roll up to go with it. added baby spinach and sriracha, as usual.

I ended up having a 1/2 a hamburger patty with no bun, 2 sweet pickles, some mandarin orange slices from a can DH bought, and a small scoop of deli potato salad.
I am determined to find the container of cooked ground beef and have pasta with marinara sauce tonight with fresh shredded parmesan/reggiano cheese.

How's it looking where you are, Chiver? Did you get hit by the blizzard or were you blessed as we were?

The Pats play at 3, our time, so game food during the game (pigs in a blanket, loaded nachos, buffalo chicken wings, mozzarella sticks, potato skins).
Then we will head out to our new favorite restaurant (VERY food allergy friendly) to celebrate ODS' birthday in a couple of weeks (he returns to college out of state on Wednesday...we hope).
Will be an expensive food day, but for happy reasons.
Go Pats!!!

I have a foot of snow here on the Canal, my sister that lives out past Worcester has nothing. such a strange path of the storm by the time it got up to New England! how did you fare? I've been keeping track of my DC-area friends who are all trying to get to Miami for Tuesday like I am, and most of them have opted to pick up one-way rental cars and just drive down since their flights are all messed up. oy.

We only had less than an inch accumulation by the time it passed through yesterday but it's over ice, so the roads were treacherous. I imagine they will be in rural areas until Monday. The sun's out today and the predicted temp is 48F, so what's left should be mostly gone. Black ice could be a major problem in the morning after the wet stuff freezes overnight. We're still a lot luckier than many! Glad you got through it without disaster!

I haven't heard about them closing I-95 so a rental car is probably their best bet. I doubt many flights get out tomorrow. I-70 and I-270 are closed through Monday.
Dinner tonight will be chili and cornbread. Unsure of cost, hamburger was free, my brother bought the sausage on mark down and the other stuff has been around for awhile. Maybe $10-12?

Small but expanding chain in NewEngland and Virginia called Burton's Grill. All food is made to order from scratch so that they can tweak recipes. Separate fryolator for French fries. Good beer and wine list. A little $$, but eating safely is priceless. :-)

thank you, I will look that up! I'll take no credit for finding the chain. Neil Swidey wrote about it in his recent Sunday Globe magazine article about food allergies.

We have 2-3 inches, tops. Not enough to bother shoveling because the sun melted it late this morning. Still, my next door neighbor, decided he needed to plow his long driveway AND use his leaf lower to clear his walkway. At 4:30 this morning. All he was doing was scraping his blade across his pavement...over and over again.

I had a burger and fries. DH did, too. ODS had a steak sandwich. YDS shamed us all -- he had roast chicken, salad and veggies, with a side of fries, LOL.
It's all good. It was yummy and SAFE.
Couple glasses of wine, some sodas, and a creme brûlée for me and we totaled $117. Ouch.

Pot roast, haven't made it since last winter. My 5 y/o absolutely loved it. My 2 y/o (typically the more adventurous eater) would only eat the carrots and "sauce". Eh, good enough.

Here in metro Chicago we had NO snow to speak of - a bit of lake effect sprinkles = <1/2 inch over the weekend BUT flights are all AFU. Friend was supposed to fly ORD to Newark to EU on Sun. NO WAY. She was able to reroute herself ORD to Austria and will pick up a local commuter to her final destination but doing it all = arriving 1 day late.
1/24
lunch 2 eggs w/Bulgarian feta (sale), ryew toast, salad (Aldi garden mix + kale mixture on sale w/a coupon). Cost 0.59 dinner chicken thigh (fz), pickled beets. Cost 0.50
Have to have a lot of cheap days to balance out the ribs from last week & the NY strip steak I plan to buy for this week.

ODS goes back to college tomorrow (weather permitting). So, I feel the need to send him off with the last hearty, home-cooked, meal he'll have until May:
Homemade beef stew with tons of veggies, homemade mashed potatoes, salad, warm bread/rolls/homemade biscuits, homemade cream cheese chocolate chip cookies for dessert.

Jeez. Monday already?!
Last night: Cornish game hens, spaghetti squash Alfredo, leftover corn niblets (sale) for DH, turnips. Total $11.20 with a ton of leftover squash.
Tonight: Steak (loyalty savings-DH and I split one), blue cheese, leftover Alfredo, fried zucchini. $9.17
Tuesday: Low carb nachos=LC tortillas, ground beef, homemade taco spice blend, cheese, sour cream, black olives. $9.16 for about 3 servings
Wednesday and Thursday: Either pork chops (BOGO) or chicken breasts ($3.65 for 2) with sides.
Thursday: Crock Pot meal of either the pork chops or chicken, whichever I didn't use Wednesday.
Friday: Take out from?
Saturday: Something quick as I am attending a Winterfest.
Sunday: IDK yet
Have a wonderful week, y'all!

Tonight is probably pork roast and sides. $4.89 for an almost five pound roast. I would say total under $10 with leftovers for our lunches tomorrow.

Tonight since I can't escape for some Thai fried rice, I'm making myself some chicken fried rice tonight. Rice, zucchini, baby carrots, egg, chopped garlic, and 1 chicken breast. Pretty cheap since everything is on hand.

Got lazy and made a black bean and cheese quesadilla with guacamole. Everything was still very cheap because it was on hand.
