Hi Savers It's good to be here. Murphy's brother hurricane Matthew came to town. We are feeling grateful we are okay and our house and our rental property are basically okay. Trees down and large limbs. Fences damaged. Will probably take most of our EF, and I'm so glad to be a saver so I have an EF to rebuild instead of new debt to pay off.

More of my skiing expenses have been paid. I put away a little more cash. I expect to receive some reimbursements this month from my health insurance. I plan to use some of the money for debt repayment and some for my savings. I don't include my retirement savings in this table. I have put away almost $15,500 so far this year in my retirement accounts. At this point, I will be happy to complete the Daily/Weekly/Monthly Challenges and meet my Skiing goal by the end of the year. -movinonup

9/9 paycheck transfer of $100 for total of $44,057 9/15 daycare reimbursement of $1,144 for a total of $45,201 9/21 daycare reimbursement of $208 for a total of $45,409 9/23 paycheck transfer of $100 for a total of $45,509
10/7/16 paycheck transfer of 491 for a total of $46,000
Still need to figure out how to plug the hole on takeout food, particularly work lunches. It's become far too easy to say to myself, well of course I can eat in the work cafeteria instead of packing lunch, I definitely make enough money. And what's worse are the days when we have no leftovers in the house to take for lunch because we picked up dinner to go the night before. Headsmack! I've decided I will keep crackers and cheese on hand to make a quick lunch. Also picked up a couple of cans of soup to keep in my desk drawer at work.

Touching bases.....I still haven't spent the time to add money to my savings....need to do that. I have some, but things keep coming up....ie: new snow tires, bought 1/2 a beef and 1/2 a pig....so upfront investment to save more money down the road. Just under $2 per pound for beef was a great deal!! So good too!! Helps me on eating home more often than eating out. On track to pay off my car by the end of the year....that will help as well. Anyway....hoping to have time soon to take care of putting some of this in savings. Good job everyone!! Teachermom

I am thankful that we have the money and also thankful we did not have to add to our debt load to take care of things but God I hate depleting our savings account.
Plumbing work : $500 that was not budgeted for!
Goals for next year: SURVIVE.

Ok spent an hour on our finances and we will have to take $1,300 out of the savings account this month to make up for some of the shortfalls we did not budget for: progesterone $400, Plumber $500 and other misc. items... I hate having to take money out of savings but I am thankful we have it for that purposes.
I am wondering if I should be using the HSA account since I am putting money on it, at least that would soften the $400/month cost for the progesterone till the baby arrives. Finances: why do you have to be so complicated!

Haitian - There is a reason that it is called a Health Savings Account. If you are being squeezed than YES-- use the money as it was intended.

FREAKING AWESOMESOCKS! I'm in the system, I made it! The Revenue Canada tax thing will be looked at. I got my rent receipts in on time. I just called them and she told me that they got them on time. I'm in the system and I'm happy about that. If I didn't get the rent receipts to them before September 30th, then I would have to start this process all over from the start. They got them on September 27th.

Hi Savers, Happy Halloween Eve. I will be doing the updates on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 2. Please get your updates in by then. Thanks in advance, Seriousthistime P.S. Food for thought: where did this year go I turn around, and all of a sudden it's Halloween. Have you had a chance to reflect on your goals for the year, whether you will meet them, and if not why you didn't? Is it something you can change in 2017? Was it just an awful year with some visits from Murphy? As you can guess, I've been thinking a lot about this lately.

Seriousthistime, $5,708, 10/30/2016 (Goal $5,078)
I am going to update my savings allocations now, and stop putting money in the moving fund (since I've moved and pretty much depleted that fund). I'm going to shift the money toward weekly savings. I'll have another moving fund for 2017 because I hope to buy a place and stop spending money on rent. Travel money is an ongoing need.

TheHaitian : 11/01/16 ----> $39,815.55 / $41,500.00
Will the bleeding ever stop!!! October was another one and when I look at this this year I spent 18,600 of the total $$ I have saved and that is not including the 45k not included in this race! This has been one expensive year for us and I guess I should be thankful we are getting out of it with only 15k credit card debt but damn it! Murphy needs to go visit someone else because he is no longer welcome at my house! I hope 2017 is a better year! Account | Account Goal | Account Balance | Spent Money | Total Saved | Difference | % Goal | Savings | 14,500.00 | 4,000.00 | 18,600.00 | 22,600.00 | (8,100.00) | 155.86% | C - Retirement | 18,000.00 | 6,914.00 | 0.00 | 6,914.00 | 11,086.00 | 38.41% | S - Retirement | 7,500.00 | 8,901.55 | 0.00 | 8,901.55 | (1,401.55) | 118.69% | HSA Account | 1,500.00 | 1,400.00 | 0.00 | 1,400.00 | 100.00 | 93.33% | TOTAL | 41,500.00 | 21,215.55 | 18,600.00 | 39,815.55 | 1,684.45 | 95.94% |
Talking of 2017 here are my goals below. I lowered the savings goals compared to last year because with a new baby we might want to loosen the strings a bit and also feel out the new expenses that comes with a baby. My wife retirement contributions is also lowered since she will be on maternity leave for half the year... Hopefully next year the Spent Money will remain at $0.00 which is the goal! Account | Account Goal | Account Balance | Spent Money | Total Saved | Difference | % Goal | Savings | 9,250.00 | 0.00 | 0.00 | 0.00 | 9,250.00 | 0.00% | C - Retirement | 18,000.00 | 0.00 | 0.00 | 0.00 | 18,000.00 | 0.00% | S - Retirement | 6,000.00 | 0.00 | 0.00 | 0.00 | 6,000.00 | 0.00% | HSA Account | 6,750.00 | 0.00 | 0.00 | 0.00 | 6,750.00 | 0.00% | TOTAL | 40,000.00 | 0.00 | 0.00 | 0.00 | 40,000.00 | 0.00% |

10/20/16 paycheck transfer of 100 for total of $46,100 10/21/16 daycare reimbursement of 208 for a total of $46,308
Kids are going to my mom's for the weekend so we can concentrate on painting and other minor house repairs to make progress towards being ready to list.
10/31 paycheck transfer of $402 for total of $46,710 11/4 paycheck transfer of $850 for total of $47,560
A ton of painting was done including staying up until 2 am which never ever happens anymore since I'm old
I did much better in October about bringing my lunch to work. Bought a few frozen meals and started bringing crackers, cheese, and fruit when there were no leftovers to bring. My average was 4/5 days. Realized though that DH was the opposite so need to see what we can do about changing that.

Everyone is so motivational about doing well and keeping on trying.
Things have been a bit hectic for me.
I ended up having to put my kitty down on Sunday. Thank goodness there was a vet open for people who don't have the ability to get somewhere before 5 and can only do most things on the weekends or later at night. I had the money in my checking account so just paid the whole bill because I didn't want the reminder of it being on a credit card so extra money is a bonus.
Than on Monday I was with my Dad as he did another procedure at the hospital. But he is doing great and hopes this is the last of his bladder cancer. I guess it is very difficult to get rid of. We are hoping that the 3rd time was the charm.
