If he can't figure out the simple concept of "Separation of Church and State" (which Cruz has proven he can't) then I don't think I can agree that he "has a mind that could govern". The government can and did for many years function with much more of a Christian bias than it is currently allowed to have. It functioned with laws outlawing sodomy and without marriage equality. Presidents governed, some better and some worse, with those conditions. Process, not product, is what I mean by able to govern. I look at Cruz's years as Solicitor General of Texas. He held that position for five years. While I disagree with most if not all that he did during those years, he did the job for five years. He could run the country for a four year term. Using that criteria though, ANYONE could "run the country"... The only question is: "What shape would the country be in at the end of that time?" If Cruz got his way, we'd be the Christian version of Iran.

Many can't hold jobs and many more can only deal with jobs with serious oversight or narrow tasks. I agree that Cruz has an extreme agenda. If he were nominated, we have to hope there is not the votes to get him elected.

I understood your point. I disagree with your point. There is a necessary mind set to hold the job for a 4 year term. Most people would fold under the pressure or lose interest and walk away. Cruz has the focus and would handle the pressure. Trump can't keep focus for a long term. He will walk away.

ETA: I'm not saying Trump would be any better able to focus on the country... but at least he wouldn't be focusing on a Bible instead.

He argued cases before the Supreme Court. Yes, he acts from his religious beliefs but he is a political creature. He isn't a preacher.

Remember the movie "Pleasantville"? Everyone lived the good life in a black and white world with no color, no sex, no true personal identity, and most importantly live a life of servitude? This reminds me of our political system today. Trump has blown the cover off inside politics, releasing the masses to reality, and what our citizens can accomplish if they try, rather than rely on someone else to do it for them and let them just live their lives in a world of non-descript ignorance. Last night he finally broke the plate glass window releasing the color motif to the masses.

Did everyone like the fact that Cruz seized the proverbial moment by having a rally in the gym in Knightstown where the movie "Hoosiers" was filmed? He got the prime time of ten minutes before the polls closed when Trump was announced the winner by everyone at 7pm sharp that he buried Cruz. Cruz also committed the unforgivable sin of trying to pull off a scene from the movie by having a flunky measure the distance from the HOOP to the floor of the gym, proclaim it is ten feet in distance and is the same distance in Indiana as in NY. Unfortunately, he called it a RING instead of a RIM or HOOP. I imagine Bobby Knight might just pick up on that faux pau. You just cannot call it a ring in Indiana and get away scot free

Speaking of Cruz, in Knightstown last night. In his speech he tried to tie Donald to Hillary for something like, 13 different stances, as both agreeing to the same stance. The first one was stated, and I said to my wife, that was a lie. The second accusation, my wife said, he is lying again. The third one, I said, "Lying Ted Cruz"! That is when I said we could have a drinking game. Every time he lies, we take a shot of Jim Beam. My wife said the fifth would be gone before the polls close The fourth stance, my wife said, "lyin Ted Cruz. Give me a shot!" I think that was when the polls closed, and networks shifted to the primary races and announced Trump won three states and Hillary one state at 7pm. Cruz just seems so lost right now. He cannot believe he has faced the same fate as all the candidates.

I hope dj is ok this morning. Last night proved that Cruz and Kasich performed the ultimate flagrant foul in strategy. Indiana could be a blowout for Trump. Republicans are not taking kindly to their political agreement there.
Trump- 1259 delegates after California and New Jersey. Trump will now win Oregon also.

Last night Nate Silver was mentioned on one of the cable networks saying how many delegates he needed at a minimum, and what he needed to over achieve. He over achieved Nate's number that Nate said he needed to go on to the win. I assume dj will be here to dissect the massacre last night. I see that train a comin...........

He did botch the reference, but apparently not in the way people think. He asked, "How tall is that basketball rim?"
Well, Ted, the rim is about half an inch tall. It is ten feet high.... Still, not as bad as saying "ring." Listen to it and tell me what you heard.

Sorry, you were incorrect. Ted already admitted he "Mis-spoke"last night, to the media this morning, and his old basketball coach probably would have him running loops er, laps, when he announced he would have a major announcement to make at 10 am this morning. He announced he will have a major announcement at 4pm eastern today. That was the big announcement. Speculation is rampant. Runs from Coup de tat of the party, naming his VP pick (Pence, McDaniels?) to announcing he is giving up the campaign, to still stopping Trump on the first ballot. Talk about jousting with windmills........

Jim Carey's movie "The Truman show", is also kind of a parallel with Trump and Cruz.
Cruz is Truman. He is seeing who he actually is, rather than what he thought he was. He thought he was the rebel, the outsider. Now he sees he is the insider backed by the insiders
Unfortunately he does not see the irony of trying to escape from the insiders, unlike Truman.

I don't know... all I know is I've started despising Cruz more then Trump which is shocking for me to even say.
But it really looks like Trump is going to be the Republican nominee... -lesigh-

Trump is instantly despicable but one can grow numb to his consistent despicability over time.

... And the problem is his lack of focus on the important things... like the Constitution. That he has a different interpretation of the Constitution than yours does not mean that he does not focus on it. The way that he wants to mix God with Governemnt sure says "does not focus on the Constitution" to me... maybe it says something else to you though... From his campaign website: Only a few things wrong with those bullet points: > Point 1: The country wasn't founded on the belief that our rights come from "God" it was founded on the beliefs that our rights come from "Our Creator" (maybe God... but maybe not...) > Point 2: The Pilgrims aren't the only ones that came here to escape religious persecution. Many others came here for the same reason... many of them are NOT Christian. > Points 3 and 4: Ted Cruz doesn't believe in or defend RELIGIOUS liberty/freedom. He believes in and defends CHRISTIAN liberty/freedom. ANYTHING that goes against Christian beliefs is not an option for ANYONE (whether they are Christian or not!) according to him. > Point 5: Ted Cruz has held no rallies for other religions. ONLY for Christians. If you aren't Christian I guess he doesn't think you matter. > Point 6: There is no "persecution of religious liberty" to bring an end to. The only "persecution of religious" anything today is the "persecution of religious intolerance".

He railed against the government war machine, more than anything else didn't he? Did he have a multi leg platform? Difference is he lost, and Trump will not lose. Goldwater, I will have to think about him. Maybe, but he got taken down by one color advertisement of a child picking daisies in a field by Johnson. I do not remember how far he was from the party faithful, compared to Trump and the RNC today. You might be correct, but it is just that the citizens have been blinded by the government hand outs and being told they are held down by the man, when it is the political parties holding them back.

Ted Cruz and Carly? Before the Indiana vote? Was she supposed to pull Indiana out for him? I do not get this one. California--is that the new stop Trump moment for Cruz? News bulletin Ted, they do not like her in California either.
If he did this to just try to keep Trump off the cable news channels today, he failed miserably. The only thing I can think of, Ted will use her as the attack dog against Trump, hoping Trump goes ballistic against her, bringing out the woam issue against Trump for the 101st time, praying it stops Trump. Any other ideas anyone?

I imagine that Kasich has to be asking what the heck just happened in Indiana. He makes a deal to stop campaigning in Indiana for Ted's sake, and then Ted names Carly the running mate? Kasich got trumped. But it wasn't by Trump If I were Kasich, I would fly to Indianapolis and announce he is back in it to win it

So I am assuming that Cruz's selection of Carly Fiorina as his running mate was the important announcement?
IMO - I don't see how this helps him at all. In the early polls she didn't have any special appeal to women, and her destruction of HP shouldn't garner much support in California.
