That's a pretty big "I'll grant you." This kid was arrested and taken to a juvenile detention facility. I have no idea what the conditions are in the one where he was booked, but the few I've visited are far worse than the local county jails (which are still pretty bad). It must have been absolutely terrifying.
As it stands, your story shows that a 14yo "white bread" kid who brings a clock to school gets it confiscated for 2 days and then gets it back, while a 14yo Muslim who brings a clock to school gets arrested and detained. I won't claim that the confiscation of a bomb-like device only happens to non-whites, but perhaps the arrests do...

Well, several years before, even before 9/11, we had a 3rd grade white boy bring in the back of a radio and tell classmates and teachers it was a bomb. I suppose in his little mind he thought that it was either funny or an attention getter. Well, it got him attention alright. Police were called and he was taken away and never returned to the school. I always think I'll read about him someday for being either a serial killer or some kind of Timothy McVeigh.

Did I miss the part about the Bomb Squad being called and the school being evacuated? Haven't read everything so maybe I did. Hell, we had bomb threats when I was in high school and that was back in the 60's and they evacuated immediately. Funny thing is the threats were called in during finals/exams the times we had them. ETA: Barely in the 60's in case someone checks my age and thinks I was still in hi school in 68 or 69 Yeah- exactly. You think it's a bomb, so you what- do nothing to protect the other children? Leave it to the government run school boobs to both over, AND under react. Anyway this was all...wait for it...a complete set up. In a shocking (not really) turn of events, it turns out little Ahmed Mohammad is the son of a controversial islamic activist. theconservativetreehouse.com/2015/09/18/briefcase-clock-maker-ahmed-mohamed-is-son-of-muslim-activist/

Yeah, much ado about nothing. If the kid was so smart, he should have known better. He got his 15 minutes of fame. The school did not handle it well. When it happened at my school no one would have even thought to call the bomb squad because the kid was just nuts. But if it happened now, I'd be royally pissed if they didn't call the bomb squad. I'm not a fan of Muslims and I'm sure that area of Texas, of it's still the same as it used to be, is less than thrilled as well, but they handled this piss poorly.

From Paul's linked information: TheReligionofPeace.com is a pluralistic, non-partisan site concerned with Islam's true political and religious teachings according to its own texts. We present the threat that Islam poses to human dignity and freedom, and we document the violence and dysfunction that ensues as a direct consequence of this religion's supremacist teachings. We are not associated with any organization. We do not promote any religion, but we are not hostile to religion. We generally support the rights of atheists, Christians, Hindus, Jews, homosexuals, women, Muslims and anyone else on the planet to live as they wish without violating the rights of others. We strongly condemn any attempt to harm or harass any Muslim anywhere in the world because of their religion. Every human being is entitled to be treated as an individual and judged only by his or her own words and deeds. (see About Muslims). We also denounce any act of vandalism against mosques or other property, including juvenile attempts to offend Muslims by desecrating copies of the Quran. (The best way of discrediting the Quran is to tell non-Muslims what it actually says about them).Understanding Islam In the Name of Allah Why terrorists do what they do... in their own words.Great site promoting peace to Muslims. They've got one guy wanting to drop nuclear bombs on Mecca and Medina.

who cares if a 10 year old kid has a bomb trigger? it is useless without explosives. THAT is what they should be screening for, imo. I just saw this after I wrote my last response. It doesn't matter if there were no explosives, but if there is a the belief that it might possible be a component to a bomb, what are they supposed to do....let him just take it back home? what kind of place do you want to live, PI?

I just saw this after I wrote my last response. It doesn't matter if there were no explosives, but if there is a the belief that it might possible be a component to a bomb, what are they supposed to do....let him just take it back home? Almost anything can be a component of a bomb. I can trigger one with my cell phone. Should they be arresting every kid that walks into school with a cell phone? Your kids are carrying a remotely detonatable bomb trigger in their pocket right now. Nearly all of them are. The local police are going to have to enlist every school and city bus within fifty miles to haul them all off to juvie for processing. Should the school have sent a kid home with his clock? Yeah, you're damn right they should have. It's just a fucking clock. this is what i was getting at in post #46.

I only asked if they did call the bomb squad. As I said before, I haven't read every report so just wondered. They called in BS at our school. And while we were outside waiting we "reviewed" our exam questions. See prior post as to when these threats took place ETA didn't the kid show it to another teacher. Apparently that teacher was OK with it. Does the kid now have a record for being arrested?

I think that teacher told him to put it away. The teacher should have said go up to office, call home, and get someone to come get it. I also think he was targeted because he's Muslim. If he was Asian I'm thinking he'd be thought of as clever as opposed to a budding terrorist.

When I went searching the Internet to find the source of all those Muslim quotes paul posted, that was the only site on the whole wide interweb with them. I truly believe this is one of those times when it is someone sitting in their mom's basement posting on the internet with Frito-stained fingers. Who knows-maybe the guy who runs that website is that Joshua Goldberg troll, the one who started the 'Black Lives Matter', Shaun King isn't a black man, hoax which Brietbart and all their easily duped readers bought into, hook, line, and sinker.

You guys aren't stupid, so stop acting like it. We all know the difference between an alarm clock and a bomb is the explosive. Any digital clock can be used to trigger an explosive agent, but lacking any actual explosive it's just a fucking clock. Oh noes a circuit board, it must be a bomb! Give me a fucking break. Have you opened the phone you carry with you at all times? There's a circuit board and wires in it. Same for your laptop, desktop, the smart board the teacher that confiscated the clock uses, etc. We're surrounded by circuit boards and wires. I don't know if you've looked at US achievement in math, science, and higher ed STEM enrollment lately, but the last thing this country needs is to be discouraging nerds that are in robotics club and like tinkering with simple electronics. #IStandWithAhmed OK, then hook up the same clock device and go through airport security...let us know how that works out for you

Heck, my watch set off alarms in Vegas airport. Funny how it got thru all the other airports without a problem.

The facts are interesting. The photo of the boy in cuffs was taken by his sister. The family asked that he be allowed to take the picture with cuffs on at the police station. Then the photo went viral as the family wanted.
The family is currently lawyered up to sue the mayor and not the school district. Why? Because the mayor has previously gone on the record against sharia law coming to her city.
This entire event was staged and is working out exactly as the family intended.

... This entire event was staged and is working out exactly as the family intended. And to think, their evil plans would have be totally thwarted by a yawn from the school.

Nobody could have gotten a picture of the child in handcuffs, no matter where said picture was taken, had the police not put the child in handcuffs in the first place. That does not equate to "staged", Paul, no matter how much you might wish it did.
