Massive tax cuts, eh? So where is all this crime-fighting money coming from? His own pockets? Maybe he'll try to get Mexico to pay for it.

Maybe he'll try to get Mexico to pay for it. he's a supply side moron. he thinks it will come from economic growth. it won't. there are a lot of reasons to be in the US: access to local markets and all of the attendant savings due to locality (transportation, etc), lower wages than most developed nations, relatively lax laws in terms of safety and environment, massive loopholes in the tax code that makes it quite easy to pay less than 35% (i have averaged about 2% corporate tax on my corporate income for the last 25 years). and there are reasons to NOT be here: all of the above costs are high relative to the developing world. so, here is the question that everyone SHOULD be asking: do we REALLY want to become Bangladesh in order to "compete"?

...and I don't want my cat to run away. He's quieter this round, but I find it very hard to watch and listen to. I couldn't make it even 8 minutes in, however the speech supposedly is about law and order. How Trump won't tolerate lawlessness in poor communities, how we need more police, and how poor people shouldn't put up with lawless people.
I'm wondering what kind of budget the man thinks he would have to do that?
he flew into Milwaukee on his way to West Bend. We had to allocate an ambulance for his visit. ETA we allocate an ambulance for every visit for candidates. I think Kaine was in town last week, recently at any rate.

Can you please summarize? I can't watch 40 minutes of his blather without sticking my head in the oven. "I'm asking for the vote of every African-American citizen struggling in our country today who wants a different and much better future," Trump said in Washington County, which has a black population of 1.2%, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Trump courts black voters in West Bend speech “Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day.”

... so, here is the question that everyone SHOULD be asking: do we REALLY want to become Bangladesh in order to "compete"? Or back to being like Beijing:

i think he figures he is going to just get free advertising on the networks- but here is the thing. he is ONLY getting free advertising when he fucks up. and so far, that has worked for him. but what he has NOT gotten, yet (and may never get) is that he is not getting free advertising for anything POSITIVE because the negative shit is overshadowing it. i would go this far: if Trump has anything POSITIVE to say, i am completely unaware of it. i doubt i am alone.

The Canadian sandwich artist behind the Trump Sandwich — two slices of white bread, full of baloney — is being bombarded with bad reviews on his Facebook page as angry Trump supporters mobilize an online counterattack. The Trump Sandwich, which mocks Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, comes with a side of Russian dressing and a tiny pickle, all surrounded by "a wall of Mexican chips." Within hours of CBC Windsor posting Lavender's story, his Windsor, Ont., deli racked up 43 one-star reviews on its Facebook page alone. "I have friends on Facebook who are actually Trump supporters and who found it funny," Lavender said. "Unfortunately, there are some people out there who have been pretty hostile and rude. Some people have been very vulgar and inappropriate." Most of the comments are too offensive to publish here. Some of them attack the LGBTQ community while others make light of the Holocaust Reviews are being posted by people who list their hometowns in states like Texas and Arizona. "You live in South Texas — I'm sure you were in for lunch today," Lavender said sarcastically. "It's childish and silly." www.cbc.ca/news/canada/windsor/trump-supporters-flood-canada-s-trump-sandwich-artist-with-bad-reviews-1.3726274

This one loads better for me than DJ's link. www.yahoo.com/news/donald-trump-aide-on-awkward-exchange-with-cnn-anchor-i-think-i-unraveled-her-233522443.html
I think the Trump campaign is practicing denial as a strategy. Everything is OK we are ahead, we are just adding people, ignore the demotion at the top of the campaign. Nothing to see here. I'm sure he's used to staying on message even if he knows its not quite right, so no surprises.
It is somewhat funny that he complains about their dramatic language to incite, ignoring that has been Trump's strategy for the entire campaign.

So is Cohen going to go on the air and explain how this means nothing?

didn't expect it, but this is good news for Trump. it would have been better if he had fired him, however.

I thought the statues were rude and inappropriate. I think if someone did that with Hillary there would be a lot more outrage in the media.

I was in bed last night and DH had the TV on in the living room. Someone was making fun of this whole exchange and it was very funny. I was looking for a link, and struck out...but I found this (cracked me up):

this is devastating. it won't get much press, but it pretty much spells out why, as a Republican, i could never vote for Trump: www.baltimoresun.com/news/opinion/oped/bs-ed-lifelong-republican-20160817-story.htmlthis line, in particular, resonates with me: To choose otherwise embraces fear, as Donald Trump has chosen to do. Fear sometimes wins you elections, but it doesn't create jobs, build schools, reduce crime or improve the quality of life for all citizens. Great political leaders help us transcend our fears.
