Try not to clutter responses with partisan BS - just respond to the SINGLE question.
Does the fact that Trump openly acknowledges he's rich and that it's reported he's allegedly worth about $9B bother you in any way when it comes to a presidential bid?
I'll start - it doesn't bother me at all that he's rich.

It bothers me in that I don't think someone so wealthy has any real idea of what it's like to struggle to make ends meet. At least he's honest about it. Some others in politics downplay the size of their bank accounts, trying to appear more in touch with an average person's financial concerns.

It does not bother me that he is wealthy.
The source of his wealth being on the back of Americans since he declared bankruptcy multiple times does bother me. The fact that he has bankrupted multiple times makes me concerned about what he would do with the country's budget.
I do not believe him to be an effective business man or politician.

There is a lot I don't like about him, including having his companies claim bankruptcy while he maintains his personal wealth. But just being wealthy isn't one of the things I don't like. I don't particularly like it either. It's a non issue.

All the money in the world can't buy you the smarts to be a good politician. His wealth has nothing to do with not liking him, is just his personality that I don't like.

I'll start - it doesn't bother me at all that he's rich. That's not what bothers me about Trump. To be truthful though, if he were a more useful candidate it would be because he has no history of caring for those median wage and below. While on paper he was poor, it was a rich man's bankruptcy. Way different from 'I have no money' .. 'I have no friends with money'. (He wasn't too small to be helped vs. too big to fail. )
Trump is a right wingers wet dream in some respects. He totally believes anyone can make it. While true, he got to start from a better than average background with a Dad in the biz and has never looked back. Most huge successes, including Joel Osteen the preacher, have fathers and likely Grandfathers going before.
Yes, I'm going to say that. He did not earn all that by himself. His Dad set him up, possibly other relatives in his past set him up to be blessed to start from a great place. He did make it work. But that $9B is not just because of Trump. JMO.

He is the real life Zaphod Beeblebrox. Maybe that is exactly what we need. Someone to be a pathological attention whore while the people actually making decisions do so in anonymity.

If he would straighten out that merkin on the top of his head, he might have a chance to be part of the debates.

It really bothers me that people pay attention to such a $%^&*bag. Every election the press pays attention to him. I do not understand why at all.

That is what we have now, only without the decision makers doing any decisions behind the curtain. And no, Trump's money is an non issue for me. His idiocy is a problem for me. If elected maybe his cabinet can be manned by Celebrity Apprentice winners.

I was just glad to see on TV tonite that he's managed to crack open his wallet far enough to actually buy himself a silver toupee to match the rest of what's left of his natural hair.

He's lying right out of the gate.
"All of my life, I have heard, a truly successful person, a really successful person and even a modestly successful person, cannot run for public office, just can't happen," Trump added.
So, that means that all his life, he's heard that only poor and unsuccessful people can run for public office. I call BS.

If you think about it: the Bushes, the Clintons, Mitt Romney, Al Gore, Pres. Obama... none of them had really met with any kind of success when they ran for office.
If memory serves, all of them except for Gore were battling addiction, slinging fries, and fighting off repo men when they took on their bids for the presidency. They were all still below that reverse glass ceiling, so to speak.

No, the mere fact that he is wealthy does not bother me, although he would have to demonstrate that he is able to understand ALL of the public. Fortunately, he is an almost never-ending source of other reasons to not ever take him seriously as a candidate.

It is true most successful politicians are well off, and I know of no one of below median means who actually successfully got voted into office in my lifetime. In local politics in NJ, in nice surburbia, it can take a chunk of change and means to even want to run for town council, let alone win.
I think some folks are asked to run by powerful rich folks, who want a front person, as their voice. But that is not a Trump issue.

He doesn't need to run. He can just take over the White House by eminent domain. It wouldn't be the first time. It's his thing. He'll tear it down because he'll need more parking for the casino he's going to build next door.

I didn't read the other posts, but I am bothered by Trump. I guess you can't put a monetary amount on how rich is too rich to be president, but I think Trump is a business person first and foremost. I believe he'd do anything to look out for his businesses and to grow his wealth whether it is in the interest of the country or not.

Doesn’t other me that Trump IS rich. After all, most politicians are pretty rich by the time they have been elected a few times. At least w/Trump it will cost WAAAAY too much to influence him (drop in the bucket theory).
I just do NOT like or trust the guy. I am sure anything he backs will be to the benefit of HIS businesses. I don’t think he is capable of operating in the standard election arena – dealing w/the press, answering questions from anyone, developing a viable platform, setting up the needed campaign structure…….
