Go for it! My hair is currently getting a break from coloring. My last two migraine meds did a number on it.

I love the lengths of the ones that are 3rd down. I've always thought you should grow your hair longer. There is an actress I think you'd resemble a lot if you grew your hair out. And wore a little more make up like she does. You'd look so good with longer hair - braids work too so if that's how you'll have to do it - work it! But please don't emulate the make up on the girl at the bottom. Unless it's Halloween and you are going as a Kardashian.

That time of year again. Going thru all my clothes to decide what to keep or donate. I am making myself wear things I haven't in awhile to see if I want to continue justifying their closet space. Also a good time to check for for, wear and tear. If I love it I see if I can fix it or upcycle it. I also do inventory so I know what needs replaced. I'm going to be needing new camis this year at least. Anyone else do a yearly wardrobe purge? What have you found you didn't realize you still owned or couldn't bear to part with? I have an xs designer sweater I got before I had Abby. As of right now my body shape has changed and it no longer fits. I keep hoping after I wean Abby my chest will shrink and it'll fit again. I can't make myself donate it.

I purge 1-2 times a year. If I haven't worn something in a year then it's gone. I go shopping a lot, so I try to be strict with what stays and what goes. I do have some special occasion tops that I haven't worn in a while, but they're too pretty to get rid of. Lol. I should remember to wear them soon so I can continue to justify keeping them! I did keep (and will probably always keep) a pair of pants and a skirt from my pre-weight loss days. I didn't want to jinx myself by throwing out all of my size 14 clothes, so I keep them to ward off fat omens. It works. :-)

I need to clean out my bureau. Closet is pretty bare, I have maybe 10 things that I constantly wear in there but other than pjs, I'm not exactly sure anymore what is even in my bureau. My guess is, that stuff needs to go.

okay guys, I'm soooooo sick of my hair. I would love longish hair (shoulder length) but it keeps breaking in the back so it'll never be close to approaching that point. I just got it straightened again last night but told my stylist that I'm thinking of doing box braids next time to a) give my hair a break from the heat and chemicals and b) to change it up for once. these are some looks that I like: Thoughts? Looks great, but I always wondered how you wash it.

I've gotten microbraids twice before. From what I remember, you can't wash it as often as your regular hair. Switching between Seabreeze (the astringent) and gentle washing with regular shampoo followed by a leave-in conditioner should be fine. I'm getting it done next Tuesday - I can't wait to finally be able to throw my hair up in a ponytail to work out or to take all of 3 mins to do my hair in the morning!

Male pattern baldness has limited my hair styling options.

I kind of feel like I'm hijacking, but I don't think this justifies its own thread. I'm going to adult prom in April. I don't want to buy a dress. Does anyone have any experience with Rent the Runway or similar sites? Any tips? My backup options are one of two bridesmaid dresses, but one is from a wedding from last October that people will probably remember and the other I lent to the fill-in bridesmaid for a wedding the Saturday after DD was born. I am not sure it fits, and it probably has bad juju because the couple is already divorced.

So... do your clothes make a statement about your competency at work? Should an employer be able to dictate or form opinions based on what you can and can't wear? It's a hot topic over on another thread.
On one side are people that believe that certain environments require certain types of attire, one the other side are people who believe if you're the best _____, it should be irrelevant that you show up to work in a pink tube top.
Discuss.

I believe that it does. In my world (public schools) teachers want to be treated as professionals. Now, I believe that we are professionals. A Bachelor's degree is required; the amount of decision making is phenomenal; continuing education is required; it's a salaried position; etc. etc.
But when you show up to work in shorts or jeans and a t-shirt, how are you supposed to be considered a professional? --Full disclosure: my husband taught in shorts and t-shirt for a decade. When I met him, I convinced him to wear polos at least. When he went into administration, he went to long-sleeved, white dress shirt, khakis, and tie. As a superintendent, he has four suits, nice (BR, RL, JCrew) slacks, at least 20 dress shirts in varying colors.
(I haven't read the "Am I Getting Old" thread because my lower back has been sore lately, and I don't want to admit that I have passed into a deterioration mode. )

Speaking of style, I went the mall for the first time in a couple years. Wow. Nothing could make me feel older, cheaper, frumpier and less stylish. What a terrible place to go.

Okay so here's my hair... **removed for privacy** It's not exactly what I wanted but it's cute. I have to mousse it/braid it to keep it wavy though. zibazinski, could you please edit your post too? I just wanted to keep the pic up long enough for everyone to see it and it looks like they have.
