Athena's thread got me thinking... maybe it would be interesting to make a style-based thread where people can share what they do and ask for/give advice.
And ..... GO!

I have no style. None at all. No musical talent, either. Is it too late for me?

One problem I had been having for a while is getting decent and flattering jeans. As a teen I was able to wear basically any brand in the Juniors section. Now I find that the cheap jeans don't look good anymore. My recommendation to women with my shape (sort of a longer pear shape with a butt) is Seven For All Mankind jeans... stretchy and very flattering. They're expensive though but the outlets have sales, and I was also able to find a pair at a consignment store for $25. I recently found that Gap jeans work in a pinch as well.
I am in the market for some new, bright, and inexpensive accessories - preferably clutches, necklaces, and bracelets. Any recommendations?

Find me some shorts. I'm 34 the only ones I wear now are the bermuda type. This (minus the shoes) is basically my weekend wear during the summer: I own a blue jeans pair, a gray/blue pair, and two khaki pairs with drawstrings at the bottom. I try to wear them with fitted shirts to keep them from looking (too) frumpy.

I have found wonderful clutches and handbags in a local leather repair shop, of all places. New and used bags. Someone recommended the shop to me when I needed to have a purse repaired. Turns out the shop stocked new and used very expensive handbags, as well as did repairs. No knockoffs, all the real thing. Sometimes they were merchandise brought in for repair and never picked up. Some were trades.

MJ - I get all my colorful/funky/inexpensive costume jewelry at places like Target and Macy's (always check clearance). I also have stuff from thrift and consignment shops, as well as flea markets, local boutiques, and one necklace from an estate sale.
One of my favorites that I get a lot of compliments and comments on is my apple slice necklace. I bought it at a boutique in Old City a few years ago, but the artist has an Etsy shop. I believe it's Real Fruit Jewelry.

yogiii, I have never seen those before. They look really comfy! For a long time I hated shorts because I have substantial thighs (and no amount of working out has changed that). I used to wear jeans in 90+ degree weather as a teen because all they really had for teen girls at the time were the short shorts. But now I can't tolerate the heat like that anymore so I either wear sundresses/skirts or bermuda shorts. I really like them - they cover the hefty thigh part and keep the rest of my legs cool.

I need shorts that are shorter but not too short because I'm short and old. But I don't want baggy ones because my legs are thin. Bermudas have to be JUST right and although I loved the Capri look, being short, no way.

I love the look of the sleek Bermuda now, but I'm shortish (average height, shorter legs) and my thighs are kind of muscular. Runner problems. :-) They still look good but I tend to wear my Loft shorts more often in the summer. They have different rises so it's not all short shorts. I also live in my Loft cropped straight leg jeans in the warmer months.

I have a few pairs of shorts from White House/Black Market (outlet) that fit really well. They are mid thigh length. I bought them a couple of years ago though so who knows what they have now.

Cookies Galore, there are a couple of huge flea markets in my area. X used to like going to them and it was mostly garbage. One Sunday I may go to the one a bit further away in Columbus - I've heard it's pretty big and there are lots of decent things.

I have some Bermuda shorts I like. I have regular length shorter shorts that I wear depending on how I feel about myself that day. I'm constantly frustrated by the situation of jeans... jeans that fit my hips don't fit my waist, and vice versa. I bought a pair from Gap back in November that fit pretty well but I've lost a bit of weight, so I need a belt or long shirt with them now. Used to like Old Navy jeans, not sure how they fit me nowadays. Ugh. I have had good luck with pants for work (khakis) at Kohl's.

For jeans I really like Old Navy diva boot cut. A friend told me to try them out. I'm 5'8" but have a long torso so the regular length is just right to wear with flip flops or flats. I also basically have a boy shape (no shape) and these seem to somehow give me one.

Most everything in my closet is either from the White/Black outlet (which now also sells more colors than just white & black - yea!!) or from Nordstrom Rack. Like MJ said, I can't wear the cheapo jeans anymore but I can typically find good ones at Nordstrom Rack for around $40. It is completely sporadic though. Sometimes they have stuff that fits me well and sometimes they have nothing. There have been times when I am in the store no more than 10 minutes because there are no jeans in my size that I like and other times they have tons. I know it is going to be a complete crap shoot before I walk in the door.

I got a pair at the factory outlet for half price a couple of weeks ago.

I have essentially limited myself to Old Navy and Macy's because I can order online and return what I don't like to the store (both about 10 mins away). No time for actual shopping anymore.

I like shorts like these I found a similar style pair at Express like 5 years ago in a black and white tweed type pattern. They still look new and I still get comments on them.

I like the look of the dressy short, but I'm not allowed to wear them to work so what's the point of getting them?

Anyone have any suggestions for weekend clothes? I have fallen into the trap of having only work clothes and pajamas. It's a struggle to find something other than a t-shirt and jeans when I go somewhere on the weekend. (Not that there's anything wrong with that outfit, but if we are going out to dinner or to a party it would be nice to have something a bit dressier).
I am short (5'2") and a size 2-4, if that helps.

I like to wear gray or black slacks that are a stretchier material and a nice blouse.
