I listen to audiobooks when I clean The Martian was a really good audio too. Some aren't. I listened to the audio as well. I really enjoyed the narrator.

I have Joe Hill's Locke and Key on audio. You might still be able to get it free from Audible if you like his stuff. I have not yet started listening because I keep forgetting I have it. :/

I reserved Eight Hundred Grapes by Laura Dave in June or July. It is finally my turn! I just started it today. Great exposition.

I have quite the list now from reading this thread.
Kindly put the author's name in case there are several books with the same/similar title.

I am finishing up The Memory Painter. I think it's really good.
It's a book about reincarnation and souls connecting thru time all the way back to Ancient Egypt.

On Chesil Beach by Ian McEwan. Honeymoon jitters of a virgin couple. Descriptive emotions.

Just finished Rick Riordan's "Magnus Chase and The Sword of Summer", first book in his new Gods of Asgard series.
After doing Greek and Egyptian mythology, he is now taking on Norse mythology. Good stuff.
Also read "Buck: A Memoir" by MK Asante.
Bought it because 15 yr old was reading it for a class, and then read it so we could talk about it.

I need to read this thread for suggestions. I used to love to read but haven't done so for pleasure for a long time. My early new year's resolution is to try to read a book a week...3 down so far, a bunch more to go!

I read three books in three days, haven't done that for a long time. It was the "A Child Called It" trilogy, and... wow. There really are not words (horrible doesn't even come close, that poor, poor child). I couldn't put it down.
I think the next book I'll be reading is The Shining. I have no idea how I haven't read it earlier, I love Stephen King books.

I'm not sure there's a word in any language for what the poor kid went through. WTF You haven't read The Shining!?! Get on it! And then Dr. Sleep right after.

I got it not realizing it was a sequel, and it made me realize I'd never read The Shining (although I've seen the movie many times).

DH has been reading Daniel Silva. He was surprisingly on about recent events in Paris and other places. It was written in 2009. Was it a foreshadowing or a how to manual?
He read Lee Child's Make Me in 2 days.

Me Before You was the last book I read. I enjoyed it for what it was.
Now I'm on The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. Interesting story but I think the writing is lacking.

I just finished Ready Player One and Room. I think it was you all who recommended those. Now I'm back to trolling the library for more Brandon Sanderson Cosmere books.

I get tons of free ebooks (at least 2-5/week) from BookBug. I download them onto my iPad & read them through my Nook app when I get time. I also borrow books from my library & read them on my iPad through an app called OverDrive that is in conjunction with my library branch. I have eye issues & reading paper is difficult, so I read on my large iPad, make the words large print & change the setting so the background is black & the words are white. There is so much less eye-strain & I have less issues. It's wonderful & affordable, compared to buying books I will read once or twice. If it's a book I love, I can borrow again or buy it on my iPad when it goes on sale. I'm getting some great ideas for new books from you guys, thanks so much!

I am re- reading Beach Music by Pat Conroy. I rarely read a book twice but came across it while cleaning out the bookcase and remembered really loving it. I'm loving it again.

Oh, I'm also almost done with Forbidden Strawberries, about a woman who survived multiple concentration camps during WWII. One of the very few children from her area to survive the war.

I read the Henrietta Lacks book, I think they were trying to keep it as simple and understandable as possible. Still a very interesting read. ?

Brooklyn
by Colm Tóibín...absolutely brilliant...it is about an Irish girl in the 50s who crossed the water to come to NY, and then love happens and sadness and inner conflict. Just a beautiful movie.

He read Lee Child's Make Me in 2 days. I think Silva's intelligence sources for his writing are legit. He (and his source) has been incredibly accurate about the growth of extremism in Europe.

Definitely interesting, I just have a hard time with books that jump back and forth in time. First we are in the 50s with the cells being taken and then back in the present with the family refusing to cooperate, then back to henrietta as a girl, etc.

I read about Henrietta Lacks. That is scary that the cells take over everything.
I feel some cancers are catchy.
