Currently can't spend on the number of books I want, so if the library has them, I wait. Should be coming any time now, since I've been next in line for at least a week. The eLibrary system is what I'm waiting on and it tells you your place in line, don't recall if the actual book version does. ETA: Not sure I'd ever have enough disposable income to buy ALL the books I want.

I have hundreds (if not over a thousand) of books right now! Unless it's a favorite author I get it from the library. If I really like it, then I buy it for my collection.

I own tons of Kindle books I haven't gotten to yet, I have no need to actually buy more if I can get around it. I'm not allowed to bring more physical books into the house. Stephen King excepted. I even have a small library in my kitchen cabinets here at work. All the stuff I hadn't read at home and didn't have space to store.

In my previous house I had my ex build me a built in floor to ceiling bookcase that covered two walls. When I moved I culled through all my books & only packed two boxes of my favorites. Now I pass books on after I've read them & tell them I do not want it back in most cases.

After I checked out B&N showed up as an advertisement & there is a SK book that came out this summer called Finders Keepers that I didn't know about. I would have added it to my order but now if I order it separately I'll have to pay shipping.

You can read one without the other though. I have this one, one of the few new books that has come in. I have a gap in my collection from when the first kid arrived to now. I'm not missing ALL of them, but still too many.

I do have all of The Dark Tower series. I've re-read it a few times. It never gets old for me.

If you are in a military/space/SF frame of mind try out "Into the Black: Odyssey One" by Evan Currie --- 4 book series that was really good, and enjoyable I just finished the final book "Out of the Black" last night. I'm being told by a friend that the audio version is also good.
I also started the Blackberry Island Series the first book was "Barefoot Season" by Susan Mallery.

I just finished The Goldfinch. I quite enjoyed it up until the deus ex machina conclusion. I thought it was going to take a really interesting redemptive arc, and then nope, all fixed.
Now I'm back to the Mistborn series, book 3, Hero of Ages. Its a sci-fi, dystopian series and the world building is refreshingly different. It gets a bit redundant, but I enjoy all the characters, and I'm interested to see how things will unfold.

I liked the book but it only ever really seem to have any excitement for me when Boris was around. She has another book called The Secret History which I liked much better.

I didn't say it didn't make sense It still ticked me off. Left a trace of "I've been waiting 20ish years for THAT??" also.

Left a trace of "I've been waiting 20ish years for THAT??" also. That might be the big difference. I was late to the party & got to read them back to back when the final book was released. I swear those books were like crack. I could not put them down, literally. I fell down the stairs once because I was reading while walking down them. The final one was sold out at Borders & I begged, truly begged the guy to sell me one someone else had preordered & hadn't picked up. I think he thought I was going to go postal if he didn't & he let me buy it.

Took forEVER for the 4th, then I was wondering if he'd die of old age by the time the last one came out. I wish I'd have been a fly on the wall for that scene. Or maybe his conversation with coworkers after you'd left.

Sorry I haven't read the whole thread. I absolutely HATED HATED HATED Room.
I'm in a book club. I have tried to quit several times but they won't let anybody leave, they keep rearranging the dates to suit the person who wants to leave. So I buy 10 books a year and maybe love ONE of them.
The one I loved last year was The Snow Child (which *I* chose). The first one this year was amazing though! We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves.
I don't have nearly as much time to read as I'd like, so now I only read novels, generally by women.

I thought Room was just ok. The beginning was good (and stressful) but then, eh.
I just finished listening to Prince of Tides. Now I am on The Caine Mutiny.
Just finished rereading Into Thin Air.
Now reading The English Patient. I hate it.

Just finishing "The Way of Sorrows", the final of the Angelus Trilogy by Jon Steele. (1st is "The Watchers" & the 2nd is "Angel City") It's his first stab at writing novels but I've really enjoyed them. Took a while to get into the first book but got to a point where I couldn't put it down.

I read The Martian a few weeks ago. I couldn't put it down, I kept trying to take care of the kids/house one handed so I wouldn't have to put the NOOK down.
It's been awhile since a book kept me on the edge of my seat till the end like that.
I got several books on hold at the library I am waiting for. I am interested in reading Bill O'Reily's book on Hilter. I own Killing Lincoln which was fantastic. I checked out Killing Kennedy from the library, it wasn't as good as Lincoln but it was still a good read. I learned a lot from both books.
It's fascinating to read about everything that unfolded and how much had to have gone "right" for history to take the course it did. It was certainly a lot more interesting than how I learned about either assignation in school.

I just can't seem to bring myself to pick it up. I've heard good reviews but every time I look at it I'm just meh.
