Lena started a thread and got smacked by the mods. Later posted at the end of Feb. that she was going on vacation for a week but she'd have internet. I didn't see any posts from her while she was on vacation and then she was gone. |

Actually, I think you are very reasonable. And I've said that to you, both in private and in public. And I've never thought or implied that you just want to ban people for kicks and giggles. But this rule of "not gossiping" makes it very difficult to find out about members who might have left. Even a simple question on my thread made you tell me to stop. I wasn't trying to gossip. I wanted to know what happened to a poster that I've "known" for over a decade. I am not on FB with any of the people from here. I have no other way to contact anyone. And sending PM to a poster who left is completely useless, isn't it? Wouldn't you want people to care about what happened to you if you disappeared one day? |

Yes, you have told me that, Lena. But that specific statement did feel (to me) like we're all bad cops, so to speak.
I get that people do get concerned. I guess I just don't like all of the negative guessing that tends to go on in addition to that concern - like in one recent case, the accusation that we banned someone.
And if i disappeared one day, I doubt few would notice outside of family and maybe a couple of people I talk to regularly. Or, if they did, they may well rejoice...dance around and sing "ding dong the witch is dead..."
