Cookies Galore - I will note, there is NO sugar in the savory cheesecake. Basically, you are mixing sausage with cream cheese, cheddar cheese, sour cream, and some sage and white pepper. It is, delicious (but I also get that it's not for everyone).
weltschmerz - we use the cheez-its because C is not a big fan of butter crackers (which is what the recipe calls for), so yeah, modify for what you like, always. I have to say, sausage, cheese and salty crackers sounds damn good. regular cheese, yes - cream cheese with all that stuff, heeeeeeellll no! hmmm, now I want some spinach and bacon quiche.

Cookies Galore - I was trying to make the point that the flavor profile I think you're thinking of - ie adding sausage to your typical dessert cheesecake - is NOT the flavor profile of a savory cheesecake. It's much more like a quiche (though C hates when I say that) or a really good sausage and cheese omelet, only with less egg and more cheese. (And I would agree that adding sausage to your typical dessert cheesecake does, in fact, sound awful.) Exactly not what I was thinking. I know what savory means. To me, the recipe reads like something that belongs on This is Why You're Fat.

I live in Jersey, I know what cream cheese is!!! mmmmm, Temptee.... but I don't want to eat it unless it's on a multigrain bagel... or in a sweet cheesecake... or in my Alfredo sauce... or in my chicken stroganoff.... or on a cracker with just a little bit of strawberry jam....

Considering I've lost all the baby weight and am now back to pre-kiddos/pre-married "fighting" weight, I don't think eating those things are why people get fat

Cookies Galore - ahh, see that's where our thinking differs. Recipes in my "This is why I am fat" book are all pretty DELICIOUS, not awful And I did mention, serving size on this is about half the size of a dessert cheesecake. We only tend to make it for Thanksgiving or large parties where there will be lots of people to help eat it, because making one of those just for the family would be a bad (if yummy) plan.
