I forgot about it. Today I was thinking I could get the episode on PBS. NOOOOO. It was last week's episode. I got the see some highlights. I don't know how long it takes to get the episodes on the internet. I'll keep checking.

It should have been on, I swear they were saying it was next day that it'd be on PBS' site.

I found episode 5 on the bing search and watched it. It looks like Cora has a marital problem now that the art dealer was in her private bedroom.
I think Violets plan to send Marigold to private school is going to bring up kidnapping charges.

So far the end of season five seems to be heading to Edith's secret being revealed and/or Bates going to jail again. It almost seems like Mary's story line about potential husband number two may or may not go anywhere by season end.
I wonder how many Downton Abbey watchers are like me and would love for the current Edith and Bates story lines to die and new better ones be created?

So I think you all just finished episode 6 on Sunday. So only 3 left for this season.
Anyone have any questions or comments on Sunday's episode?
So does anyone else think that Edith is Aunt Rosamund's illegitimate daughter that was just raised by Robert and Cora? I do! I mean her coloring and mannerism's are so much like Rosamund's and she really looks nothing like her parents or Mary and Sybil. Plus Rosamund's reaction when Edith told her she was pregnant saying she understood what Edith was going through.

Never thought about it but my in laws have so much inter family resemblance that it doesn't phase me. There are a couple of nephews that look so much alike I call the younger one by the older one's name.
I'm waiting to see if Mrs. Drew tells everyone about Edith.

So here are two mini spoilers.
As most of you have probably already guessed yes Isis does die of cancer. Obviously in keeping true to the time line she would be about 12 yrs old which is fairly old for a Labrador. I couldn't believe that there are actually people on FB saying they are killing her off because of her name. I mean I never even connected the 2 until somebody posted it. So ridiculous! Hugh Bonneville is the one that suggested they have her pass due to age.
Oh and there will be a proposal and acceptance by the end of the season. But probably not who you think. He he he

SNL used to call them the hot one (Mary), the really hot one (Sybil) and the other one (Edith). It just popped into my head, thought I'd share.

I just discovered this thread ... nice to find some other Downton fans out there. (I watched this season last fall online, but I'm rewatching it on PBS when it airs)

Here is the video from SNL - hilarious. No spoilers, and it was made during the first season. Best 2 minutes of your day.
If you don't want to click through, I googled "SNL Downton Abbey Spike" and it is on vimeo.

Funny Thyme, although it struck me that I felt labeling the old lady's maid 'Bitch Lady' made her sound like a meaner character than Thomas merely labeled 'Mean Guy'.
Seemed weird to see Matthew in the clip.

IMHO I would say they were pretty equal in the mean department.

O'Brien did cause Cora to lose the baby so yeah, I'd say she was worse than Thomas that season.

And another thing...
I am fine with the gay story line that is going on now. But I think the way it was handled at the cricket game a couple seasons ago was pandering to the gay audience.

It was pandering to the modern audience for sure. Solely to the gay audience? IDK. Lots of people, gay or not, find those old attitudes abhorrent. I always think there's a whole lot of tolerant people in that one household considering the times.

LOL, yes even Carson who called Thomas "foul" or something along those lines was trying to be sympathetic while insulting him.

It's England. Anyone who went to a boys school is aware of the issue.

I didn't say "unaware", I said tolerant. They would have known if they'd attended boys school but not all did and not all were tolerant when they grew up.

In England (as in many other places) people's upbringing (and the attitudes that go with it) are all over the place. Clearly some are going to be more enlightened and more tolerant of their fellow wo/man than others.
Remember back in Season One when Lord Grantham was told that Barrow was gay? I don't remember the exact quote, but it was something along the lines of, "Well if I hollered every time a classmate at Eaton tried to kiss me I'd be permanently hoarse."

I would also agree that this household is portrayed as very tolerant for the times.
