I think if Al really cares about black people, he should focus more on stuff like education, violence, gangs, drug use, and such.

Funny, no one said a word when Hattie McDanile beat out the actress that played Melanie, in GWTW, her name escapes me at the moment. Hattie wasn't even very good and Hollywood was very segregated even then but little Al needs some attention.

Thank you. I could remember she had a sister who was also an actress but I can't remember that ones name either. Joan Fontaine? Is that it?

You'd think someone who owed so much money to the IRS would keep a lower profile. But it's probably racist that he is expected to pay what he owes.

zibazinski and Icelandic Woman - Has there ever been a sibling rivalry more venomous than this? Now Joan Fontaine is dead at 96, her sister Olivia de Havilland will be livid she's stolen the headlines againHollywood film star Joan Fontaine wasn't entirely joking when she predicted how her sister, Olivia de Havilland, would take the news of her passing. ‘I married first, won the Oscar before Olivia did, and if I die first, she’ll undoubtedly be livid because I beat her to it,’ she said 35 years ago. In the event, Fontaine has trumped her nemesis once again, passing away of natural causes at 96 at her home in Carmel, California, on Sunday. I think Reverend Al was upset at the movie "Selma" was basically ignored. You cannot piss off Oprah without her getting someone to be the henchman. Imo, Selma was released too late to be considered this year, but what do I know. Selma also got ignored for best picture last week so they are pissed.
It's not like Oprah has been ignored by the white community. Heck they even elected her hero to the WH twice the first time when she stabbed Hillary in the back. Maybe Hollywood is having some second thoughts about that one this year

I think he is upset because it was ignored in all the acting and directing categories.

And now we have Fox network with a hot black series on the network. I am surprised Al has not gone after them for some sterotyping black people in the radio music industry.

Looks like more articles are popping up complaining about it. It's amazing the responses on twitter over it. It doesn't sound like people have had a lot of issues with nominees in the past for Oscars, but this year all of a sudden it's an issue because of the nominees were all white. Seriously? Maybe the people who are complaining about this are guilty of the same racism that they are complaining about. Racism isn't a one-way street that many seem to want to believe.
Nothing the least bit derogatory about the title there.....

Get in line, buddy. So does every producer, director, actor and filmmaker in the business. Just sayin' . . . .

It is entirely possible that the race hustling industry jumped the shark with #Ferguson and the ensuing and ongoing violence, and silly rhetoric and the academy simply didn't have the attention span, or patience to listen to Spike Lee or Oprah ramble on for an hour on the topic? I guess George Soros can try to buy revolution with $33 million but can't even conjure an Oscar.

There are many different film awarding bodies.....the Oscars is just one of many
and it tends to bee the same films in the running....over and over again (though who actually gets the gong may be different)
So, you can only conclude that those must be the best films around in a particular year.

And the racist GOP just elected Mia Love, and a good chunk of the more conservative, TEA Party wing of the party would love to see Ben Carson in the oval office.

I would say that Al Sharpton has a chip on his shoulder... but I'm not certain that's where the chip actually is.

Sharpton is a symptom of where the liberal establishment is today. After Al Sharpton's role in the Tawana Brawley phony rape scam which resulted in riots and even a death, he ought to zero credibility with everyone. But not the liberal establishment shows up and bends over every time Sharpton calls a presser.
