Missed one tag: put "table" in brackets[ ] at the beginning of the table like at the end As usual I am late to the game. But maybe that is good this year. I didn't realize that they had raised the IRA limit until I was offer on boggleheads reading something random and it said "6000 for 2015" So I had to go and make that change already!!

What? Damn. I think I'll keep my goal at $5500. I like having a little cushion come tax time in case a little traditional is warranted.

The IRS website says $5500, no change from last year.

I just went and edited---there goes trusting the bogglehead wiki!!! But seriously those guys double check so much crap it didn't occur to me at first to double check them! I think they averaged--under and over 50 equals 6000 "shrug"

So I knew what I had done wrong stupid copy and paste---but how did you get the grid marks to show?? I haven't ever gotten them to pop up no matter what I do to the code. Grid marks show up when you click the box for border when your making the Table up. Use the Table making box and Border is on the bottom : Example : With Border checked off Row 1 column 1 | Row 1 column 2 | Row 1 column 3 | Row 1 column 4 | Row 1 column 5 | Row 2 column 1 | Row 2 column 2 | Row 2 column 3 | Row 2 column 4 | Row 2 column 5 | Row 3 column 1 | Row 3 column 2 | Row 3 column 3 | Row 3 column 4 | Row 3 column 5 | Row 4 column 1 | Row 4 column 2 | Row 4 column 3 | Row 4 column 4 | Row 4 column 5 | Row 5 column 1 | Row 5 column 2 | Row 5 column 3 | Row 5 column 4 | Row 5 column 5 |
Example : Without Border checked off Row 1 column 1 | Row 1 column 2 | Row 1 column 3 | Row 1 column 4 | Row 1 column 5 | Row 2 column 1 | Row 2 column 2 | Row 2 column 3 | Row 2 column 4 | Row 2 column 5 | Row 3 column 1 | Row 3 column 2 | Row 3 column 3 | Row 3 column 4 | Row 3 column 5 | Row 4 column 1 | Row 4 column 2 | Row 4 column 3 | Row 4 column 4 | Row 4 column 5 | Row 5 column 1 | Row 5 column 2 | Row 5 column 3 | Row 5 column 4 | Row 5 column 5 |
What I have found on here with doing my Table is that I stay in the BBCode mode. You can go to the Visual mode to have a look, BUT if you switched back to BBCode mode, yeah your Table is all code wonky. It will still look like the Visual mode though if you Post it, but it will be much harder to edit. Rows is across : Columns is down : Check the Border box if you want the grid marks.

Shoutouts! Thanks to all who are helping us make our updates look nice and neat! simser, thanks for setting us straight on the Roth limit for 2015. DVM, Wedding? Did I see Wedding ? ? ? We want details! I didn't change your update to reflect the Roth limit because for all I know, you will still save $6,000 and put the extra toward 2016, or increase another goal by $500. If you want to reduce your goal by $500, you can do it with your next update. forwardwego, I like the way you are showing us how your way of saving via the Weekly Challenge works for you! Good job on the savings goals. And thanks for keeping the conversation going and motivating us all. tobinikui, saving at a steady pace is a very good way to go, I think. I set your goal at $750/mo x 12 months, or $9,000?? Is this correct? If so, could you please put it in your tag line? Thank you! minnesotapaintlady, I don't think it's cheating to count your FSA reimbursement for 2014 as 2015 savings. To me, it's forced savings, the same way income tax refunds are forced savings. And if I haven't already said so, welcome! I've read your posts on YM and I'm glad you're here. azucena, nice job for January! It's a great kickoff to the new year! I hear you on feeling unsettled about saving so much compared to your situation growing up. If you ever care to give us some background on how that's affected your views on money, I'm sure we'd be interested to hear. We all get here through life experience, and yours sounds interesting. Sugilite, nice job on the savings!!! If you decide to go all miserly, you don't have to tell your brother, just tell us and we'll cheer for you. Will you be moving when you meet the moving fund goal? How are the critters? Did your ammonia trick work? Did your tv hit that deep-discount price yet? snapdragon, we'll miss you as you take a breather. Come back when you feel ready. Your update will be posted in the smilies for two months, but retained in the master list so you won't have to change your goals when you come back -- unless you care to, of course. bankergurl, you're an inspiration as always! Thanks for adding your goal. It's an interesting idea to have a target for where you want to be even after taking money out for spending along the way. speechchick71, congratulations on being a 1%'er! I see you've got two weekly challenges going. Good for you! dogmom, I need an update for you. I gather you're saving $100 every other week, so that, to me, says you've probably saved $200 out of a goal of $2,600, but I don't know if you've saved more or less than that, and whether that is still your goal. If you could please update and put it in the form of a tag line, I'll make sure you get in the next smilie update. acemom, for people at your stage of life those weddings are real budget busters, aren't they? When did bachelorette parties and wedding showers become so elaborate? I hear my friends' kids talking about this issue all the time! Anyway, you always rise to the occasion and I have no doubt you will do so again. Saving4Norway, you motivate me like crazy! I don't think I'll ever match your savings rate, and I love looking at all of your goals. Makes me want to travel more ! scrgrl47, you are going to be shown on the table as a 1%'er as well. I just can't put someone who has saved some money toward a goal to be listed as less than 1%. sealy, I really like your comments right there in the table. I bet it will be a help to go back and look at those comments every time your motivation flags. I like your Save category as a spendable EF. Very creative and a good idea. shanendoah, I'm glad you are here too. I've seen you hanging out over at YM, so it's good you've joined us. Did I read in the updates on houses for sale that you're selling a rental property? Will that do anything to your savings goals? Remember, goals can be adjusted at any time. Ombud, do you feel you have to even things up between DD and DS? You already do soooo much for DD and her kids. I try to keep things even, too, but there are so many variables, not the least of which is the comparative levels of "need" amongst them. Two kids are well set, one is doing fine but working hard for it and he'll never get to the point that the other two are. megaptera, nice update. Since you're posting just a tag line, please remember that if you are working for individual goals within that overall goal that you post a rose each time you've met that individual goal. Otherwise, we won't know. Credit where credit is due, and all... runmarathons, I love your goals! Question: what is the next marathon you have planned for? I'm curious to hear which ones you like to do. I'm a half marathon walker (due to knee issues). coffeegirl, come baaaaack! I don't even have a goal for you. teachermom, I have your goal, but no update as to whether anything has been saved. I know you'e been focusing on debt payoff and the challenges that arose in January, but please try in February, if you can, to throw something in savings, even if it's just $5 that you managed to save by not buying something you ordinarily would buy and didn't spend on something else. Okay? You have such great comments for everyone, and I want to see you on the smilie updates!

seriousthistime THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE SHOUTOUTS AND SMILIE UPDATE WOW Just look at all that saving going on I love reading your shoutouts. They give so much to think about, and makes me go back and review the other WIRS's posts. And I see (because of your update) $805 more saved will get me a star, and you know I want that star I've been a little less active here because we are getting a new renter at our rental house. I'm the cleaning lady, and I've been WORKING! This is our first time to rent to other than family, friend, or coworker, so I've had to tighten up my approach and paperwork and screening. I've heard of people who do not rent to family, friends, and co-workers... I've always gotten the rent on time, but do find myself with a substantial clean up when they leave . So now we shall see how it goes with a regular renter Best wishes for your Monday ALL!

Forwardwego - I really like your take on the 52 week challenge! My BF and I are doing the challenge together. We are just doing it the regular way, and we are alternating weeks for who puts in. So far it is going great! Serious - Thanks for doing the updates and shoutouts! Thanks everyone that chimed in on how to copy the chart!!!
This weekend BF and I went to visit his Mom, she lives about 2 hours away. The town she lives in had a casino so after lunch we stopped there for a few hrs. I had by far the best casino night of my life! I won $819 betting .90 on a penny machine! I was so excited! Since I then had a little seed money (that put my ahead about $600) I decided I could bet a little bit more....I bet $3.70 (max bet) for 2 spins....the 2nd spin I hit the bonus and won 330 free spins!! Very shortly into the free spins I retriggered the bonus for another 200 free spins!! I ended up at $2575!! I have never ever had a handpay in my life, I was ecstatic! About 2 hrs later, I was playing a different game and got the bonus betting $3.00 and won $1511! WHAT?! I have never had a handpay before and then had 2 in 1 night!! Such a crazy night!! After playing for about 13hrs, tips and drinks, I went home up $3800. YEAH!! I gave $800 to BF, $1000 to the mortgage and $2000 to savings since I have to pay my property taxes this week. So excited!!! Banker Gurl $28,700.00 ($25,925.00 1/1/15)
Increase of $2,095.00 since last update. Increase of $2,775.00 so far this year. | Start 1/1/15 | Last Update 1/27/15 | Current | Goal | 52 Week Challenge | $0 | $10.00 | $15.00 | $1380.00 | Joint Savings | $690.00 | $1155.00 | $1185.00 | $2000.00 | New Car | $1735.00 | $1940.00 | $4000.00 | $4000.00 | Christmas | $500.00 | $500.00 | $500.00 | $500.00 | Surprise Trip | $1000.00 | $1000.00 | $1000.00 | $1000.00 | Home Insurance | $1300.00 | $1300.00 | $1300.00 | $1300.00 | New Garage Door | $2000.00 | $2000.00 | $2000.00 | $2000.00 | New Patio Door | $2000.00 | $2000.00 | $2000.00 | $2000.00 | Painting/Drywall | $2000.00 | $2000.00 | $2000.00 | $2000.00 | Laughlin Trip | $2200.00 | $2200.00 | $2200.00 | $2200.00 | Property Taxes | $2500.00 | $2500.00 | $2500.00 | $2500.00 | Emergency Fund | $10,000.00 | $10,000.00 | $10,000.00 | $10,000.00 | | $25,925.00 | $26,605.00 | $28,700.00 | $30,880.00 |

Shoutouts! Thanks to all who are helping us make our updates look nice and neat! Oh I'm most definitely in the saving mode, my brother doesn't have to know to what extent though, lol. The landlord was here last Friday, so January 30th. He drilled a hole in my livingroom wall and dropped poison down through it. I haven't heard any scratching or digging since Saturday night. I do hear slight sounds around where the poison was dropped. The TV hasn't reached any low enough number yet, I'm still waiting on that.

Travel Fund - $ 4500 (currently $ 3132) EF - $1500 (currently $ 632) House/car - $ 500 ( currently $ 148) - I am going to have to work something out to get my totals back up. That windshield just really bummed me out. I need to schedule my CPA and so things will hopefully change soon.

Welcome steph08! Are you doing the 52 week challenge in any particular order or just what you can each week? I started at the bottom ($52, $51), but on short weeks, I take from the top ($1, $2)! It will all add up

It will all add up No particular order - I started at the beginning (1, 2), but I plan on jumping around. If I have more money one week, I will do a higher number. It seems easier than having to do $200 in December and only like $10 in January!

Hi all! Thanks for doing that great update serious! I added a little more to the savings funds. The weekly challenge has become my "save to go back to college fund" and the $25/week is more for unexpected car expenses. I have a 1year old car so that shouldn't be used right away but it will be nice to know that the money is there. Eventually, if it's not touched, it can be used for a down payment on the next car I suppose! Does anyone else love getting a paycheck so that you can save (and pay off bills if that's what you're still doing?)? I love sitting down with my spreadsheet and manipulating my numbers. UPDATE: speechchick71 2/6/15 $360 (goal=$20,005, started 1/1/2015) | 23-Jan | 6-Feb | Goal | How much to go | % Met | Weekly Challenge | $100.00 | $210.00 | $13,780.00 | $13,570.00 | 2% | $25/week | $125.00 | $150.00 | $725.00 | $575.00 | 21% | Roth 2015 | $0.00 | $0.00 | $5,500.00 | $5,500.00 | 0% | | - | - | - | - | | Totals | $225.00 | $360.00 | $20,005.00 | $19,645.00 | 2% | |

Still having fun with the weekly challenge. It's not only building a savings, it's building my saving muscles. This keeps me focused on saving and updating every week. I've heard that "breaking a habit" is actually replacing a bad or nonproductive habit with a better one. So I'm very happy to be developing a happy savings habit. If my Feb 21st garage sale goes well I hope to: * break into the $3K range * pin down my star for 25% * pick off the big 49 in the weekly savings challenge * plump up my rental EF to $1K I love all the variations of the weekly challenge that are being used. Thanks fellow savers for your presence, & contributions. This is an awesome club.

Update! scrgrl47 2/7/2015 $2,863.55 (Start: $42.04 / Goal: $19,820)3 paychecks helped a lot because (a) three paychecks of auto transfers and (b) I put extra to the HSA since the first $1,000 of that is my first racing debt or savings racing priority for 2015. From here on out, the HSA will grow incrementally because I've met my $2k deductible for the plan year (started last October). Next on the racing docket: get that EF back up! Can't believe how fast that retirement contribution adds up when factoring in employer matches.... Fund

I am also doing the 52 week challenge! I've already done 6 weeks since I can only do it every 2 weeks when I get paid. I go by week 1, week 2, etc. But it's week 1/2 for the first check, week 3/4 for the second, and week 5/6 for the third paycheck. Next time I get paid it'll be week 7/8. Can't put it in the bank yet though. Mine requires a $50 deposit.

Update: Runmarathons 2/9/15 $16,774 (Start=$16,474 / Goal=$30,000) WIRS1 Rental #1 EF - $10,000 (Current $5,463.40) - $100 Rental #2 EF - $10,000 (Current $6,109.42) - $100 6 month EF - $10,000 (Current $5,201.91) - $100 I am currently saving $300/month, it gets taken directly out of my paycheck at the first of the month. Goal is to save $13,225.27 by the end of the year….with 10 months to go this means I would need to save $1,322 per month - that's 4x what I am saving now. Not sure about that, maybe I will just modify my goal deadline seriousthistime - Next marathon is Seattle Rock n Roll in June! I do lots of shorter races throughout the year…up next will be 4 miles for the Valentine run this weekend! Thanks everyone!

I'm getting a refund. Not sure how much yet as I am waiting for the 1099s but the preliminary estimate looks good. Not putting it towards WIRR or WIRS. I'm thinking of: 1 week in Ireland after crazy season - $3000 2 weeks volunteering in Israel in November - $950 Going cheap on GKs summer vacation Smartest people might say to pay off debts. I'm not that smart
