i'm saving for my trip and moving out together, that's what I consider my two biggest savings for. It will all be completed by July 2016. I also plan on topping up my moving fund a bit more. I'm looking to move in the Spring/Summer of 2017.
BTW when the critters scratch, I scratch back and meow and growl loudly. It's the only thing that stops them from scratching.

Jaguar critter scratching sounds like a major motivator to grow that moving fund ETA: I'm a little nutty, but feel the need to add a few bucks so that my savings total is not 1929...the year of the stock market crash and start of the great depression. yes 30 more bucks would be 1959, year i was born probably better.

1. Go to your post with the most recent update. Click on the Quote button. It brings you to a box where your old post will appear within a quote box, and there is an area for you to add your comments. 2. Look just underneath the white box of text. There are two buttons: Visual and BBCode. Click BBCode. The info in the box now appears in what I can only assume is some sort of code (maybe BBCode). At the top of the code, you will see something that looks like [ quote ] and you will find the same at the very end. Delete just those two things. (It will appear without spaces between the brackets and the word, and they are at the very beginning and very end of the quoted text.) 3. Don't change anything else. Then click on Save Changes. Your old post will appear in the thread without the quote box around it. Then from that new post you can click Edit which will bring what you just posted, without the quote box, and you can edit the numbers, %, roses, and tag line. If you had any old comments that got quoted as well, you can just delete them and write new comments from the Edit Post. 4. Then click Save Changes, and your post should be updated and look very nice! I would not advise trying to update your post from the BBCode version. WAY too complicated! forwardwego: seriousthistime was mostly correct. The first quote tag includes author = " forwardwego" timestamp = "XXXXX" source="XXXXX". Make sure you delete the entire tag. -movinonup

ETA: seriousthistime and movinonup Thanks for the excellent step-by-step, that worked!!! AND I'm having fun with the weekly challenge. Next week I'm planning to get my 50 accomplished. I think that without the weekly challenge account, some of the $150 would have channeled into one of my other savings, but probably not all of it. For those of you who think they don't have any room in their finances for saving, try the weekly challenge. You might be happily surprised.

Think I might have to turn in my WIRS card. Might be giving DS up to 28k from LT savings for a new house. That'd mean I'm saving 38k instead of 10k. Should know soon. Gotta keep things equal

I'm part of the 1%! I have made it to 1% of my goal! I'm so excited for this year to really start revving up. My debt is going down, my savings will be going up, my brain will be getting more connections (I'm back in school, working toward another degree). This savings will be great for the point that I will have to stop and go back full time. Maybe I won't have to take many student loans! Happy weekend everyone!

Woo Hoo I found out that $1,500 saved in my Bank Account gets a monthly Banking Fee taken off. It will save me $50 a year and to me that's a huge plus. I'm in the "every penny saved counts club"

I'm in the "every penny saved counts club" Agreed. I transfer $500 from CapitalOne360 to Wells Fargo and back every month, just to avoid the $7 fee Wells Fargo would charge me otherwise. I would just close the account, but it's linked to another one that my parents put money in for DS. Just $35/month, but again. That adds up!

Well I'm thinking of ditching cable......It would mean $40 per month, that's $480 a year saved. See in both the 80's and the 90's my household didn't have cable. Friends actually told me I was a more interesting person before I got cable back.
I'm getting dizzy with excitement over how much I can save.

Holy Crap, I'm at least 5 months earlier than I thought with my goal reaching. The way this is going I might get everything completed by the end of 2016, when I originally thought it would be June/July 2017. And I'm not saving yanno great gobs of money at a time, just $40 here, $80 from there. Saving money gets results. =
Seriously when I started looking at all this just last October, I really thought mid to late 2018 before I reached my goals. And it looks like my two biggest goals will be completed by June 2016.
Every single thing on my Goal List will be reached by November 30, 2016 or EARLIER. Cutting cable gets me an extra $1,000 saved over 2015/2016. I'm giddy with excitement on what I can save and the goals I can reach.
Saving Money "it's a good thing"

I had been trying to get the TV/Video button to work on my universal remote control for my TV since 2nd week in January. I disconnected the satellite cable cause I'm dropping my cable and the TV/Video button is working. I can finally watch all these DVD's I got.
I got some for exercising, Qigong studies and Brainwave Entrainment. I got plenty of long term things to keep me occupied.

Going well so far on the savings front! Auto deposits are rolling along, as well as lots of sales on FB rummage sale sites! I will be filing my taxes soon so that will be a bump to savings as well. I do have my Property Taxes due in 2 weeks, so will have to pay that soon and I will add back the "Spent" column at that time. Banker Gurl $26,605.00 ($25,925.00 1/1/15)

I have $100 deposited here biweekly from my paychecks as a set it and forget it. I was able to $1000 this morning because my husband and I both got paid at the same time and that's what is left after paying the bills for the next two weeks. The other difference is a couple bucks in interest.

I had two big influxes of money in January. I'm kind of cheating because about 6K of this "savings" was actually accomplished last year. I didn't turn in any of my FSA claims for 2014 until a couple weeks ago, but since I just got the money now I'm counting it as 2015 savings. I'm going to try and do the same thing this year and not make any claims until 2016. The other windfall was my federal return. I'll get state taxes next month, but after that things are going to slow, way, WAY down on the savings front for the rest of the year.

Hi ladies - can you believe it's almost February??
Congratulations to Suglite on realizing her savings timeline was shorter than expected! That is awesome news. :-) Life is puttering along here. The credit card bill for January was larger than expected (leftover from Christmas), so I am trying hard to be more mindful of our spending over the next few months, in an effort to fill our funds back up. It's not too hard to hunker down up here, given the weather the North East has been seeing lately!
I am still pushing ahead with my $750/month savings to our emergency fund & just made the first 2015 transfer this morning. At this rate, it will take us until June 2016 to fill that fund entirely, but time will tell. I am hoping to do our taxes this weekend, and am very hopeful that we will have a refund this year, due to the baby, and our income dropping. If we do, I will hopefully be able to push our savings rate higher than where we currently are, but time will tell.
We do have at least one large house project to do this year (I would postpone it, but DH is pretty insistent that it get done ASAP.) Depending on cost, we may either empty out our house-related savings, or potentially take out a HELOC or HEL. Not sure which - either way, I am hoping we do NOT have to go that route. Time will tell!!

Slow progress, but progress is progress. Right? Right ? I am still racing debt on the WIR Racers and will be for a while. But I am within a month or two of finishing Race #2 (and I will go to Race #4 after that, because I already finished Race #3, my car). When Race #2 is gone, I will step back for one or two paychecks, catch up on some other things, and see which debt to include in Race #4. And then I will be making minimum payments on that debt and putting all extra toward that race in the CC paydown category. When I feel that I don't need that money in the CC paydown category, I will transfer it back into checking and pay down the debt. It might not be all at once. It could be a thousand or two at a time.

As usual I am late to the game. But maybe that is good this year. I didn't realize that they had raised the IRA limit until I was over on boggleheads reading something random and it said "6000 for 2015" So I had to go and make that change already!!
dvm07 1/31/15 1500 (1/1/15=$0 Goal=$12,800) Fund | Goals | Saved YTD | % Met | Roses | WEDDING!!! | $3,000 | | 0.0% | | Cash to Brokerage | $600 | | 0.0% | | Roth IRA | $6,000 | $1,500.00 | 25.0% | | Taxes | $1,200 | | 0.0% | | Travel | $2,000 | | 0.0% | | Total | $12,800 | $1,500.00 | 11.7% | |
edit--ok maybe boggleheads were wrong (that has to be rare) all the internet sources are saying still at 5500 for 2015 hmm we need a shrug guy
