...will be forthcoming sometime in the next week. The MT CoC will naturally subsume the "main" CoC, which can be found at notmsnmoney.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=coc. As for additional content rules: rovo, moonbeam, and myself will discuss how much "off-topicness" to let on the boards. It will help us to know how "out there" material can be before people consider it detrimental to the board. Please vote only if you expect to visit Market Talk at some point in the future. - M0 - Talk should be exclusively about investments, forex, trading, and market action.
- M1 - Everything in M0 plus discussion on financial institutions, derivatives, the Fed, central banking, employment, international trade, broad-based market manipulation (LBMA, IMF, Fed, GS, JPM), and behavioural economics (i.e. MOPE).
- M2 - Everything in M1 plus discussion on theoretical influences on the markets, including: supranational currencies, open conspiracies (trilateral commission, CFR, Royal Society), financially-related political scandals, and article-backed "America is under financial attack" essays.
- M3 - Everything in M2 plus highly political/controversial topics likely to affect world economies over a long time frame, including: the economics of immigration, loss of civil liberties (martial law, prison camps, eminent domain, human rights abuses), racial/ethnic hiring policies, eugenics, health conspiracies, Agenda 21, and media control.
- All Content - Any content at all, so long as it does not violate the main (site-wide) CoC.
Note that M1 is what I consider to be the standard for the old MT board. Since we can't make the new board more restrictive that the old one, M0 is not a standard we can impose. Even so, it will be useful to know how many people would prefer a standard even tighter than M1. Thanks for your input. Rovo and I will do our best to keep the boards inclusive but also quality-focused. Your comments in this thread are also welcome. Regards, Virgil

I voted M2. We have a board that covers M0 and M1 (Start Investing). I read the Start Investing board daily although I rarely contributed. It was (is) a good board for learning the nuts and bolts mechanics of investing in the market. I would like to see some constraint with the "cheesecake photos". Posters that continuously use them don't realize that they are alienating an entire gender and most of the other gender that read and contribute to a market/economy board. We have a thread "yoga" and a few other (edited) threads that already have this. Most people don't want to be reading the serious threads and then have it abruptly ruined by the same three or four posters that decide to compete by seeing who can post the most degrading cheesiest picture.

It might be presumptuous of me, but I believe folks were generally satisfied with the latitude provided on the old MT board. However, I don't think it would be much of a stretch to go to M2. By no means should it be tighter. Just an opinion.
In voting, I'll side with neohguy. M2

Read more: notmsnmoney.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=moneytalk&thread=423&page=1#ixzz19FNF4gwDM3 is walking over M&P area... We have a lot to talk about like inflation and Trust in the value of money...Or trust in the banking system and Sovereign Bonds. I also agree with others that we need to look at History of the Money systems and banking.. The cause of the 1873, 1931 and 2008 banking crashes.. etc.. Great Topic, 2nt Olderstill thoughts on the increased area as we will be adding Fedwatch to Market talk Bi Metal Au Pt

Great to have the picks justified so rigorously. I'll take a look at the cheesy photos neoh mentions. Collecting responses for the poll is going to be a slo-o-o-ow process this week. I do realize we're in that netherland between the 25th and the 31st when everyone is away. ETA: I also went with M2. (Sorry, Mid. ) As fascinating as some of the 9/11 and FEMA camps stuff is, I simply don't see it as market-related.

Virg, I came so close to voting for M3, only because mid and decoy crack me up when they duke it out with FTI...but, my sense got the better of me and I went with M2. So much for being a "responsible" Libertarian on my part, LOL.

Some free wisdom... IF I had stuck with the original board theme on MT, none of you would have joined and it would have looked a lot like Smart Investing. IF I had allowed politics to permeate, it would have looked, acted and reacted a lot like P&M. IF I would have allowed Frank to run roughshod over everyone, it would have been too pro-fund to stay up with. It works best when the recipe is economics and the ingredients ebb and flow with financially significant trends. We went volatile (doomsday) and now tend to be moving into new topics like growth and recovery. Remember... without fairly extreme variations in content, money is boring.

Seeing as this board is unaffiliated with MSN, and in the light of recent times where freedom of speech is being threatened, I would hope people consider this in their decision. This board is obviously financial in nature, but like EE there are many off topic conversations taking place. I would personally consider talk about bilderbergers, federal reserve, one world currency and world government to be excepted talk since it's relevant in investments seeing that this is taking place and current. To ignore these topics does not serve anyone in making investment decisions.
That being said, I do have a suggestion. Since I and many others don't see 9/11 and Fema camps as conspiracies, but would agree that not directly related to markets unless it's under politics. I would suggest we add a thread with off topic world events. Not exactly sure what we could call it, but if on main page it would satisfy those that thirst for this information, yet not directly effect those that would rather avoid those topics. I think it's a fair compromise, and most could reasonable agree this could be fair. You don't have to visit the topic thread if you don't wish to.
My one and only problem with this would be to call it a conspiracy thread. I and many here have real problems with that. Many conspiracies in the end, end up being true and uncovered, so to label them conspiracy thread would be insulting in my opinion. Maybe something like "World events and backroom cover-ups". I'm open to titles, but leave out the word conspiracy, it's labels it a fraud in which many have real evidence proving otherwise or more investigation is needed.

I didn't vote all content but did vote M-3. How can anyone seriously say they are here to listen and learn and then severely limit the topics to what they personally believe is relevant to a topic? The fact is that just because you don't believe there is an Illuminati or a Billderburg conspiracy doesn't mean that they don't exist. You can bet if any of these do exist that they are most certainly having an effect on the World Economies. To restrict peoples thoughts is to limit your own knowledge!

The yoga thread seems to be popular by the views......I would imagine if the other gender objected ...we would have been informed from them by now.

Anything, I'm not afraid of reading any crazy conspiracy theory on the internet, in fact they are good for a laugh sometimes.

Bear in mind that "more inclusive" doesn't necessarily mean "broader spectrum". Some of the more analysis-oriented posters on the old board started up SI because they felt MT was too inclusive.
If you spend 30 minutes carefully putting together a post about lumber futures and it's immediately bumped by five articles on the lizard people (which, I should point out, would be admissible under the "All Content" standard), you're going to get fed up after a while. To an extent, board exposure ends up being determined by how loudly and how quickly a poster can pump out material.
Hence, a caveat: every tick up on the M- scale you go, although you're including new material, you're also alienating some of the more quality-minded posters.

I suspect this board not really being open to much of the general public once the MSN board goes dead, isn't going to have 'good' posts bumped by Lizard people/concentration camp threads.
If Lizard people spam becomes a problem I would hope that would be dealt with by the mods.

Maybe if the Mods think someone is way off topic they can move it to a more acceptable area of the board such as EE. But careful; just maybe Lizard People can have a huge impact on the economy and the market

I would like to purpose an amendment. There is nothing wrong with all content. However, intent to steer a conversation away from a topic of investing with such content; should be in violation. As wells as; defamation of others with views that don't go along with your content. I'm all for a balance view, I would just like to see as little thread jacking as possible!

Virgil, moonbeam has already stated that it is not going to be tight assed as you guys were over on MSN. Before telling anyone anything, you should first talk it out with her, as many of us has already done so. She has already said that this IS NOT MSN. As you well know, many Mods were using own personal feelings/prejudice to delete/ban/and generally harass many people on MT and other boards. She has also assured us that we can complain about Mods who abuse their position that has been granted "by her" (thank G-d), and that you guys are not set in stone like some have grown accustomed to. Moon was always a more than fair Mod, and now this is HER board. I am certain, after reading her responses to these very questions, that harassing Mods will not be tolerated over here, and quickly retired.

I think Ahamburger is on to something - If a thread is started specifically for Lizard People what is the harm? The harm comes only when a thread is hijacked by individuals to disrupt a conversation. If people don't participate in the Lizard discussion it will die on its own.

Smart Investing would have over-taken MT after the mutiny. I LOVE the variety and a reminder, most of what was labeled doomsday is currently in play and likely to be validated as financial transaction crime gets exposed this new year.

I voted for M3...I think despite the moderators best attempts to keep the posting strictly market related it tends to go in other directions at times anyway. As others have said a moderator could always deal with anyone pushing the limits too far. I agree that if things go too far from market / economy discussions most of the time then it could make the board just a social site without much use for investing.

Hey decoy...glad you made it. To vote look to the left of the choices and click the small circle by the one you like and then click on the submit button. If you make a mistake or change your mind then click on the retract button and recast your vote. I think you might have to be a member and signed in to vote though.

Decoy, make sure that you clicked "I agree" at the bottom of the page. After that, make sure you click on "create account". If you went to the old MT board after doing this (or anywhere else) then you will have to click on "log in" when you return to this board.

Decoy, I just checked on the members section and you already have an account. You have to 'log in' from the top of the page and then you can vote.
