of course the woman in that video feels she is being harassed or sexually harassed! she has a fabulous body and pretty face! while walking past men / boys / guys that see this, feel the same way that she is very attractive. lets see the video of the unattractive chick walking the same area. same thing will happen, however on a MUCH LOWER amount of commentary.

This is different. And actually if the car and the guy were interesting enough to me, I might talk too.
However, when I used to walk a lot, I hated people honking at me. It is an unequal situation. You are on foot, and they are in a car. No always for me.
so there it is! that's your situation. You see yourself as the women in the harassment video. ok when you used to walk a lot you got unwanted attention from men. I will not say or make gestures to women jogging, or clearly out for exercising. otherwise - fair game. Z, your choice. But I was walking for exercise. Its easier on me than jogging or running. Are you OK with all of what happened in the video or most of it?

If one works hard enough, they can make ANYTHING synonymous with anything else. Synonyms are NOT equals, they are approximations or simply similar. synonym Syllabification: syn·o·nym Pronunciation: /ˈsinəˌnim / NOUN 1A word or phrase that means exactly or nearly the same as another word or phrase in the same language, for example shut is a synonym of close. (from the vaunted OED)

What? Did I say you were a pimp? Did anybody say you were a pimp? I think the first one to use the word "pimp" was you! YOU are also the one who said women who are out for something other than exercise or jogging are "fair game". Those were YOUR words!

How she can be a victim of harassment without she is harassed? Loser has answered this It will feel like harassment to the attractive woman because it will happen all the time. Each individual guy making a comment, whistling, howling, or whatever might not cross a line, but to her hearing comments and whatnot every day, every time she goes out, it's a pattern of persistent unwanted sexual attention, which is pretty much the definition of sexual harrassment. She's not being harrassed by any one guy, but she is being harrassed by the male public at large.

When a man you don't even know starts making audible comments about your body parts, that's sexual harassment. You can rant, rave, twist and shout. It's sexual harassment.

... I believe some of us female posters are saying yes we see sexual harrassment in that video. And that its not just the two men that walked by her for more than a moment. And some people are saying that what you are labeling harassment should not be so labeled. Yes, I understand that. Some of us are saying the definition needs to be expanded.
How would you prefer to label that behavior? Feel free to create categories and multiple labels.

It's actually called "street harassment" by those who are actively working to do something about it.

It's sexual harassment. when a random guy she doesn't know is cute / attractive / good looking to her makes a comment about her body. it's no big deal and she may even smile or giggle and also feel that her hard work at the gym and eating right is paying off; including the women who does not have low self esteem.

Hold it right there! I am a woman. You are not. Do not tell me how I feel as a woman. You don't have a clue! It doesn't make a particle of difference to me whether the guy looks like Quasimodo or Brad Pitt! If I'm treated with disrespect you can damned well bet I'm not going to giggle, or smile, and I'm not going to give a flip what that fool thinks! Some idiot on the street has absolutely no impact on how I feel about myself and you can take that to the bank! Is that clear?

I don't know where you get these ideas.

I don't give a frog's arse about your observation! I AM a woman. You are NOT a woman. I talk to women about very personal things on a regular basis - things women don't talk to men about. I know one hell of a lot more about women than you do, believe me. Every woman here knows more about women than you do. While you might like to believe I'm an exception (that way you can continue to treat women as "game"), you're quite mistaken. Any quality woman sees such behavior as crass, backward, and downright ignorant.

though you are just right down the highway from me about 40 to 45 minutes - we are in different neighborhoods and lifestyles. I get my ideas from my environment I live in. I'm sure I wouldn't make such comments towards you if we met in person or seen you in streets of New York at random. you also don't appear to be attractive to me / from my point of view.

Everyone doesn't live in your neighborhood and everyone doesn't live your lifestyle. People who are raised to give and expect respect don't tolerate the kind of trash that hoots, whistles, and makes lewd comments to women walking down the street. As I said, any quality woman is not at all flattered by such churlish behavior.

They have never ever seen each other ever? Do you interview the woman in question and ask what she is thinking and feeling?
I have more positive reactions when I interact with a man I find attractive, but *ONLY* when they act like a quality man. Mmhmm is not alone in that. Quality men know how to strike up conversations that do not discuss a woman's appearance.
Is that knowledge so uncommon?
