Minnesotagirl7 With the increasing price of gas and food, the money has to come from somewhere so I am electing to slow down the repayment of debt. I always say you have to what helps you sleep at night.

MuffyintheRed#2 05/23/2022 $164,271.64 (06/22/2020 $175.394.16)
Amount paid off- $942.30
CU Savings - $25,661.27
It has been a very expensive month. First we had to fix our air conditioner to the tune of $1,491.00 and then we had to finish paying for our fence, for $2,150. Needless to say we aren't doing much till we get our Social Security!
With the cost of everything going up we don't eat our much and I buy all my meat at Piggly Wiggley here because they have great meat and semi-reasonable prices. It should be helping my diet but it isn't!!!
Next month is the second half of our property tax which I am not looking forward to. Sticking with minimums for the next month or two.
Have a wonderful and safe month.

I received my Escrow Analysis today. It looks like my expectation of an increased mortgage payment isn't going to happen. Instead, it's been reduced by $4.21. However, I went ahead and increased the actual amount that I send out from my Web BillPay to a nice round $630 rather than the $621.41 that it was going to be. So, in reality, come August, I'll be paying $4.38 more than I have been for the past year. The mortgage company was also nice enough to send me a check for $63.99 which is my expected escrow overage for the year. I should be able to update in July but may wait until August since that will be 15 years as a WIRR.

The good news is: I've been able to pay off most of the CC. The balance on the Visa got up to nearly $6000 this month with a New Balance of $5711. So far, I've been able to pay off $5000 of that. With current usage and unpaid balance, I'll have interest on ~$1500 but that is better than last month. I did switch most of my usage to AmEx so that I wasn't adding to the Visa balance but somethings were already set up and I didn't change them in time. I was also able to pay off the New Balance on the AmEx each month so there's been no interest there. July should be my last month of carrying any balances. <fingers crossed> Six days into July, I'm still on track for this to be true. I received the first half of the fee that my boss is paying me for the "Hiring Project" to find his new Exec Asst. I expect to get the second half once we choose between the two remaining candidates. But that helped pay down a good portion of the carryover. So...between the second half of the fee and the Aug 1st paycheck, both New Balances will be paid down to $0. Just in time for me to spend 3-5 days in Arkansas.

light update this month, with more house projects going on in the background. I need to figure out the paydown plan for the fall, balancing with house projects, as that Citi card will reset in January. I'd like to have it gone, because it will reset to 21.99%. I might not wipe it all out, but if I can get 3/4 of the way there, I can wipe it out completely before March. that won't be the end of the world for interest. upcoming house projects: Paving - I've been unable to get in touch with my contact at the paving company since getting a verbal quote a few weeks back. I think I might just punt this one for 2022 and get on someone's calendar for early spring. I can use the $4500 I've been sitting on for that, for a lot of other things. Electrical - I've got a list of things for an electrician to knock out for me, ~$2800. he'll be here next week for that, including running power out to allow mooch to install the water heater for the outdoor shower (which I've already purchased). Plumbing - troubleshooting why I emptied my water heater tank in drawing a bath earlier this week, I realized that the fittings on the tank are badly corroded. mooch pointed out the various issues with the improper piping to/from the tank as well. so that's gotta go, I think he said the hardware for replacing would run me another $2800. I'm going to try to wait til I'm in Vancouver for my birthday, so he can do the work while I'm away. Trees - the dead trees were taken down earlier this week, finally! I'm just waiting on the invoice to come in with the charge included for the police detail, and I'll mail that check out. creditor | start | previous | today | 1st National | $24,168.63 | $14,894.56 | $14,550.98 | Citi #1 | $12,826.10 | $8,863.11 | $8,720.41 | SMCU | $11,958.93 | $11,171.81 | $11,046.81 | Citi #2 | $4,394.29 | $0

chiver78, sounds like punting the paving is a good plan, especially if you'll be able to save up the money, again, fairly easily/quickly next year.

News in the world of nidena...
I interviewed with a non-profit on Wednesday for a part-time job that pays $18-$22. Please send good juju out in the universe for me because it sounds like a great position and fit for me.
We found a new Exec Asst for my boss. She starts next month. This will close out the Hiring Project and net me the second half of the fee AND put me back to going in to train on a regular basis which means extra pocket money.
Carrying balances will carry into August. Mainly because the project fee won't hit my account until after my CC statements close. And because I spent a bit more than expected on my trip to MI last weekend. Funnily enough, I don't seem to carry the same balance two months in a row. That's a small win.

I have a second interview on Friday so the good juju is working.
The fee for the Hiring Project will be paid this Friday and should show as pending in my account on Thursday.
I'm bumping my trip to AR to the fall. Instead, I'll be going to OK in the fall...likely Nov.
All good things.

So, I'm joining this group until the end of the year to try and meet my goal of paying this CC debt off by December on track. I stuck all my cash in savings bonds earlier this year and got a little stuck with big ticket items. Kids tuition, new stove/micro and an annual charity donation. Dumped it all on a credit card that is 0% interest until December. I don't want to cash in I bonds paying almost 10% or use my small taxable account with the stock market in the toilet, but come December if this isn't paid off I will tap one of them to finish it off. My goal is to not have to do that! It's a hefty goal to be sure. Especially since the drop dead day for the promotional rate is the beginning of December (12/4). I'm going to try anyhow...

that's a good goal. is your promotional rate one that will just reset the interest rate for the remaining balance? or more like a store card that brings all of the interest back if it isn't fully paid off? if the first, even if you don't fully get there, it's not the end of the world. I've got one like that, resetting in January. I don't think I'll knock it all out, but I'll be close. good luck!

It must be you just pay interest on the remaining balance because on the statements it's not showing the entire amount as subject to interest. It just keeps reducing the promotional rate balance every month as I pay it down.
It's a card I've had for 10 years and they just out of the blue offered 0% interest on all purchases until the end of the year back in May which was a little weird, but seemed like a pretty good deal to me.

LADIES, I am back! I'm not sure if my old username was spaghetti0625 or keanuchicky, but I'm back! I have fallen off the wagon, mostly due to spending and my business (spending) so I'm back to get myself accountable and back in control! I had paid off all debt but got comfy and right back into it I will be reading up how to write it all out but just wanted to come on and say hi!
