nidena I promise, this is my VERY LAST COMMENT on the subject ... what about considering working 2 days/week, and hiring a person you could "share the job" with who would do 3 days/week? It just seems like a great opportunity, because you clearly are indeed excellent at that job, your boss clearly appreciates you, and it seems pretty flexible. Jobs like that are not very easy to find! Just a thought! Again, this is my last comment on the subject! Wishing you the best, as always!

I had considered the idea and, truthfully, it may end up being that. I'm just not wanting to jump back in headfirst. It's more of a wading in, slowly.

nidena I'm very happy that you're even considering it, and that I didn't offend you. From the outside, it seems like a great solution.

UPDATE:
nidena: 5/14/2022 $23,246.78 (8/22/2007 $223,361.20 N453,503,NE648,NPT25)
The balance is up because of the tax bills, windshield, and prior months carryover but it is what it is. I've also decided to press forward with getting my office complete. It will add to the debt when I purchase the carpet but my mental health would rather deal with that than with steadily deteriorating carpet. I got a new kitten as a playmate for my Growler-boy and that kitten has discovered many of the places that my Shivers-girl made messes. Thankfully, he's 99% box-trained but that 1% still adds to the need for carpet replacement--carpet that should have been replaced a decade or more ago.
Once the carpet is replaced, I can move the desk (that arrived in March) from the living room to the office. I'll also be able to get a few things out of file boxes and into the desk drawers, furthering reducing the number of boxes that still remain from moving two years ago.
My boss's new assistant isn't working out for him. She's not picking up all the things that need to be done quick enough; more importantly, she's not doing them correctly, even after a full month of repetitive tasks. I may be training someone totally new very soon.

NikiZ628 (5): 5/14/22 $18,725.87 (9/22/21 $24,768.37 WIR271)I got my first $0.00 inside of this race- we paid off the remaining balance on our swimming pool! Between this zero and paying off my SUV we have now freed up $740.00 a month in minimum payments! Best Buy did go up a bit, H purchased a drone- because he's a nerd and wanted one for baseball/work/play. He literally NEVER impulse buys anything, I think the last time he did was like 10 years ago. So, I figure a $350 purchase isn't something to loose sleep over when it's only happening once a decade lol. It's a 0% promo as well, so it's costing us nothing to carry it for now. It will be paid off well before the promo expires. Our next big tackle is the Care Credit. Our 0% ended in January, so now it's 26.99%. The minimum is $165 a month but I try and pay more than that whenever possible. It's costing us $100 a month to carry this balance, so we plan to get this one paid down as quickly as possible now. I need TMJ treatment, but it's going to cost $6,000. So, until I pay off his orthodontics, I am in the waiting zone for my own work.

So...I changed my car insurance back in November, after being with USAA for 20 years. While I had them, they had a collateral account of sorts that they would put money in all these years. That account closed when I switched insurance. Got a check in the mail yesterday for $3,046.39. I can pay off my tax bill!!

I ordered the carpet for my office yesterday. It's a dark amethyst color and matches the trim. Once it's installed, I move the desk into the room and be that much closer to DONE with that room. The sales lady was cool enough to extend a military discount my way so it was $50 less than the original quote.

EF = $95,238.64 Balance transfer complete. The $204 interest listed for CC#4 is the Balance Transfer Fee. I'm going to really try to post my numbers at the beginning of the month next month. I almost always record the numbers on the first of the month on my spreadsheet, but posting sometimes takes a while. It took a 90 degree day to get me to post this month. -movinonup

This should have been posted on May 23 but nothing has changed since then, I was on vacation for the holiday weekend. Hope everyone had a good and safe one.
Next month is not going to be bad. We have our fence finally being installed and we have to have a big part replaced on out furnace. No savings for awhile and will definitely be paying minimums on mortgage and credit cards.
Hope every one has a wonderful June. Stay safe.

EF = $40,294.34 This is my lowest credit card balance to start a month in over 11 years! Next month I should have no interest charges on my credit cards for the first time in a very long time! I moved cash out of the account that is my EF in anticipation of making the final payment to my contractor. Finally, I got an update in on the day that I actually recorded my numbers. That may actually be my biggest accomplishment of the month. -movinonup

The good news is: I've been able to pay off most of the CC. The balance on the Visa got up to nearly $6000 this month with a New Balance of $5711. So far, I've been able to pay off $5000 of that. With current usage and unpaid balance, I'll have interest on ~$1500 but that is better than last month. I did switch most of my usage to AmEx so that I wasn't adding to the Visa balance but somethings were already set up and I didn't change them in time. I was also able to pay off the New Balance on the AmEx each month so there's been no interest there. July should be my last month of carrying any balances. <fingers crossed>

UPDATE! another light one, just minimums plus whatever little interest on the racing balances. I'm doing a bunch in the background, though - the projects card now includes a brand new refrigerator and may be getting the 2nd half of the driveway paving in July when the work is done(I may as well get the CC points for my troubles, right?). my main bonus will hit in the next few weeks, this week's pay might be too early idk. so I'll use that to pay off the projects card - as has always been the plan - and keep the rest as cash on hand til the paving and tree work is done. then I'll figure out what to do with whatever is left. the next rate to reset isn't til January, so I have time. the company that did the first layer last fall actually folded over the winter. so I had to find a new company to quote me to finish the job - at current pricing. oh, and the tree work I declined for the front yard now is a must-do because the dead stuff is coming down one way or another with the next good storm. so that's $4500 and $3200, respectively. I'm not sure if the paving company accepts CC, but I know the tree company no longer does. I have the cash in hand, but it would be nice to reap the benefits of running it through the CC for some airline points. still turtling along, moving in the right direction... ETA: surprise! bonus/raises hit this week. my checking account balance is quite sexy this morning. it looks like the raise means an additional $75/pay period compared to previous. I like that, too. creditor | start | previous | today | 1st National | $24,168.63 | $15,230.37 | $14,894.56 | Citi #1 | $12,826.10 | $9,005.46 | $8,863.11 | SMCU | $11,958.93 | $11,296.81 | $11,171.81 | Citi #2 | $4,394.29 | $0

More updates going on in this neck of the woods... The carpet was supposed to be installed this past Tuesday. The installers were supposed to show between 9-11am. At 11:15, I called the company to ensure they knew they were supposed to work at my house. At 11:45, I received a call back that they were "on their way". When I asked how long it would take, I was told "a few hours" which meant I needed to cancel/reschedule. If they had shown up at 10am, a few hours wouldn't have been a problem but, since they weren't getting there until after 12pm...no bueno. So, they're rescheduled for this coming Tuesday. I made sure to have no other commitments that day in case they show up late again and I'm also giving them a 9am-12pm window on the advice of the salesperson that I've been working with since that's what it should have been this past week. My boss--who has been paying me to train the new person--commissioned me to find his next Executive Assistant so I spent many hours, last week, conducting pre-screen/first interviews. We received six resumes for the job posting, plus two that were submitted for an Admin Asst position that I thought would be better considered for the EA position so, all told, I think it was seven interviews that I lead. It was interesting being on the hiring side of things. We'll see how things go with the Culture Index--an assessment of sorts that has candidates choose what words best describe them and their ideal working environment--then it's on to in-person interviews. I also offered to help out a friend with paying off her car. She's an EMT who got hit with COVID twice in the past year and that hit her pocketbook pretty badly. She financed her car through one of those used car places that charge you an arm and a leg in interest--her's is at 26+%--and was on track to pay it off last fall...until she got sick. She has only a bit left so I'm gonna help her out over the next couple months. Fun twist, this is one of the young ladies who lived with me nine years ago (Northeast thread, starts at comment #3331, if you want to refresh) and drove me up the wall with her just-turned-18 shenanigans. It's funny what nine years and two kiddos will do to help people grow up. This will help take one bill off the table so she can pay for Medic school come Fall. I just can't imagine paying 26% for a car.

I just realized that there's only a dozen of us on this board.
It makes me a bit sad, knowing that just a decade ago, we had so many people that we needed five boards to keep track of them all.
Can I encourage you all to share about the WIRR on your other social media outlets? Let's get us some fresh new "faces" this summer.

On one hand, it's actually quite good: Many have won their races. But having so few who share just means bigger lulls in between comments. I posted on my FB about my journey shortly after posting my comment above. I hope others join us.

Update Race 1
61,373.05 (1/3/2011 $97,382.42 MPT5)
Unfortunately, my progress is going to slow down. I will be cutting the amount extra I send.

I can post way more about the things I'm doing outside of my racing balance. 🤣🤷♀️

nidena I've been trying to think of ways to bring old racers back, and bring in new members as well. I created a twitter account, but need to get more active with it. The account will follow some of the other well-known financial accounts on twitter, and try to comment/bring people to the group. I like the idea of people sharing on their social media accounts too! If anyone else has ideas, or still talks to past racers, please share and reach out!

I recently put a link to here on one the posts about Baby Steps on the Dave Ramsey page. I figure if they're on BS 2--pay off all debt except mortgage--they might want the encouragement of others in similar positions.
