States question Obama citizenship with legislation At least 11 states have measures that want more proof that president was born in the U.S. ATLANTA — Georgia is the latest state to propose legislation that questions whether President Barack Obama was born in the U.S., joining 10 other states who have measures that want more proof before his name is put on the 2012 ballot. Even though Hawaii officials have repeatedly confirmed Obama's citizenship, his birth certificate has been made public and courts have rebuffed challenges, the so-called "birther" issue hasn't gone away. Georgia Rep. Mark Hatfield, a Republican, said he still doesn't know if Obama is eligible to serve as president, and 92 of his GOP colleagues and one Democrat support the bill introduced Monday. "Most people feel it's an issue to a significant enough portion of our population that it needs to be addressed by the state," Hatfield said. "It is, in a sense, a response to ... the sitting president and his inability or unwillingness to release his original birth certificate." So-called "birthers" have contended since 2008 that Obama is ineligible to be president. They argue he was actually born in Kenya, his father's homeland. They have also not been satisfied with the "Certification of Live Birth" Obama has released, which is a digital document. The 10 other states with pending bills include: Arizona, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Connecticut, Indiana, Nebraska, Tennessee and Maine. The measure has failed this year in Montana. www.msnbc.msn.com/id/41858252/ns/politics-more_politics/

firstread.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/03/01/6163302-huckabee-claims-obama-grew-up-in-kenyaFrom the article: Huckabee has said he believes President Obama was born in the United States -- unlike the so-called "Birthers," who believe falsely that the president was born elsewhere. Huckabee reiterated his standard reasoning for that again today. "The only reason I'm not as confident that there's something about the birth certificate ... is because I know the Clintons well, and believe me they had lots of investigators out on him," Huckabee said, "and I'm convinced if there was anything they could have found on that they would have found it, and I promise they would have used it."

I wonder how they feel about the micro-fische of the announcement of his birth in the Honolulu paper. It was there.

She may just spring it on Barrack during one of their debates... Is that what you guys refer to as getting caught with your pants down??

Bilderbergs picked the mysterious foreigner Obama over Hil. Hil may be next. Black over female this time around. Too damn bad, but it is what it is.

A Georgia House committee was expected to take up the proposal this week, and there's already enough support to pass that body. The Senate's approval is less clear. "It is unfortunate that some people continue to fight the Civil War," said Senate Minority Leader Brown. "We should learn from history that this kind of behavior is bad for business. It's bad for the image of the state and at the end of the day, it doesn't accomplish anything." www.msnbc.msn.com/id/41858252/ns/politics-more_politics/

Do they not have more important things to do than haggle over Obama's birth certificate. The problem is that there are those in Kenya that tell a different story but there is nothing to verify them. I agree with Huckabee, if there was something there they are hardball players and would have used it.

Good to know that my state is wasting tax payer money on something so ridiculous instead of dealing with the real issues that need to be tackled. I'll be sure to call my representative's office tomorrow to bitch about this.
Our stupid govn is threatening to close my sons charter school with budget cuts and yet they are wasting our money on this kind of crap..... yes, I'll definately be calling and letting them know how I feel about this POS motion.

I sure like Huck. I like him a lot, actually. But-- I would never vote for him. He's too nice to be POTUS, IMO. GREAT guy, but no killer instinct at all. Yes, I said the kill word. No one without it is going to take King Obama down. The man/woman is out there, though-- we are just not feeding them to the Dems yet........

Nah, Hil won't do that. Have you guys noticed how pretty Hil is these days?? Whaddup wit dat?? I would LOVE a Hil vs. Obama deal-- but it will never happen. Would be damn hard for Pubs to beat Hil, IMO. Even though she is just like BHO, people are really stupid, you know.

Notice the front of the YouTube video states 'Governor Mike Huckabee'-not Former Governor Mike Huckabee. Huckabee was governor of Arkansas July 15, 1996 – January 8, 2007. Today's date is March 1, 2011.

I don't think any of this is going anywhere, I'm sure there is a lot crap that gets submitted to state legislatures and would not start using the headline 'States question Obama citizenship' until they actually pass the bills

How could anyone not support legislation requiring everyone to show specific proof before being approved as a candidate? The questions raised about Barack Obama made it clear that no laws currently exist. Even if the individual states don't pass laws at least some will definitely file a protest within the five day limit this time around. It is hard to imagine that this has not been taken care of before.

I wonder, though, if he applies in IL like before, or in D.C.? and is the application process similar there?

I think it is a lot harder than that to kill a conspiracy theory. Die-hard believers would just assume the proof had been faked, or the officials had been bought off, or it is part of a large cover-up because they don't want to have to face the embarrassment of admitting the US elected a foreigner to their highest office.

Indeed, look at all the liberals, some on this board, who think George W. Bush ordered the 9/11 attacks...

If Obama, whose father was not an American citizen, qualifies for the presidency based on having been born in one of the United States, then what would be the response to someone else running whose teenager American mother was married to an H1 legal alien?
Would that person qualify to be president under the Constitution? If not, why not, because that's what we have now. And if yes, then where in the Constitution is it covered?

Yanno.. it just occured to me (I'm slow) that the goal behind weakening the 14th could have more to do with Obama than it does so-called Anchor babies. Good thing I'm not a conspiracy theorist.
