This is in no way intentioned to hurt anyone here dealing with fertility issues, but I am honestly interested in what would happen if one of the Duggars (or anyone living their lifestyle) had fertility issues and couldn't have kids? Would they be shunned by the religion? Or is it just kept quiet? Not shunned. They may see infertility as God's judgement on them for some reason. I had someone try to tell me that's why we lost Aubree - they were lucky I didn't punch them in the throat. But going through ART isn't always looked favorably upon in these groups either since it's considered messing with God's will. I think Jana was dating someone and then it didn't work out? She's been pretty quiet the past couple of seasons. So has the 2nd oldest boy (they are twins). Maybe they just wanted out of the circus. I am so sorry that someone hurt you like that. They are the ones who best be worried about God's judgment.

I would have contributed bail money Sam if you punched them. I admire how you dealt with Aubree, especially idiots like that and their comments.

Thanks It makes me sad though that people really believe that. Same person told my parents that my sister's cancer was because there was some unconfessed sin in my parents' lives or in her life that needed to be dealt with before the "demon" of cancer could be freed from her. Thankfully those people are not really in our social circles at all anymore, but the like to come crawling out of the woodwork every now & then. I feel bad for the Duggar kids because I know their family is heavily involved in ATI and some of it's practices are downright scary (google Bill Gothard if you have the stomach for it). There really are religious families that aren't complete nuts. I remember when we were home schooled & several people from church were doing the ATI programs. My parents always felt something wasn't right and never got into it and didn't let us attend the camps. Now I am so glad they didn't!! SIL and DH went to a few of them and SIL seems to have been scarred for life.

What's sad is they had no time alone ever before they got married, and now they have a kid on the way. DH said he would have been so pissed if we had gotten pregnant that quickly. I honestly wonder about the parents' relationship and how they will handle it once the kids are gone.
If DH and I hadn't lived together for two years before getting married, I would definitely have felt cheated out of "us" time by getting pregnant with Babybird three months after our wedding. This girl has been raising kids all her life, why would she want to start so soon? Personally, coming out of this family I don't think I'd have kids at all. The nieces and nephews would fulfill my kid fix and then some. It would have been OK to punch them.
Seconded. WOW, Sam_2.0! And I thought the guy at your work who told you that you "dodged a bullet" (referencing sibling rivalry) was bad! Why do people make such IDIOTIC statements?! (That sounded vaguely stalker-y. I swear I'm not, just read some of your blog posts recently )

I say good for them. They aren't the first young couple to have a honeymoon baby and won't the last. She's 23 and he's 25, plenty old enough to be aware of the decision and make it responsibly. Regardless of how you feel about the Duggar's personal beliefs they do not rely on social programs to support their brood so who are we to judge their timing? I have half a dozen friends who all got married about that age and popped out babies 10 months later. While I thought they were nuts they were ecstatic and consciously made the decision to have a child early in their marriage. Some people just really love kids and want big families. Pretty sure Sam has said she wants like 4 or 5 kids and we don't judge her for that, would we if she was 10 years younger and newly married?

My husband thinks she is more than eight weeks pregnant. Uh yeah! Isn't it "jinxing" it by announcing the pregnancy that early? Someone got a little something something before the wedding! I'm glad I wasn't the only one that had this thought.

I don't judge them, I just don't understand them. This girl pretty much raised her younger siblings (the Duggars have their kids schedule 1:1 time with their own parents and let the older siblings handle them the rest of the time). I'm not really clear on why she'd want her own baby after 15-18 years of that life, because I sure wouldn't. On the other hand, you can't say she doesn't know what she's getting into so that's good

Well, she was raised to believe her purpose in life is to produce as many children as possible. Don't know about him, but I would guess he was raised similarly or the marriage would not have been approved by Pa Duggar.

How could anyone in their right mind be against ADOPTION?

His views on adoption, disciplining children, marriage, etc. All from someone who never married or had a family. Didn't stop him from taking advantage of the young girls that came through the ATI institute though. Recovering Grace is a website for people that managed to make their way through the other side of that hell if you want more info on it.

Something about the "sins of the father" and bringing in children that are not of your own flesh & blood can bring in curses to your family. Or some nutty crap like that. Really odd since most protestant religions are all for adoption given there's lots of Biblical support for it.

Free speech is wasted on the crazy. Exactly. And interracial adoption is just as abhorrent as interracial marriage. Got to love the reasoning - abortion is murder, but the children born to unwed mothers are cursed and unworthy of adoption.

We're getting somewhat off the topic here, and the attacks on others needs to end. If it doesn't I'm going to lock my own thread. In fact, I'm likely to lock it anyway, this is far more than I bargained for.

They are airing their lives on TV, for Christ's sake. If THEY don't mind, why do you mind? And where is the "attack"? What did I miss?

This topic was about Jill Duggar, not abortion, interracial marriages, or how abhorrent some people think adoption is. There have already been complaints about this thread, mine included.
