We would be well rid of LePage. that bombastic, bullying sob embarrasses the state every time he opens up his mouth. Not to mention the actual damage some of his policies inflict. his crusade against the press was absolute maddening. a gut wrenching display to watch, even from afar.

one final footnote for hopeful Democrats: this race will hinge on turnout. if the Democrats did a good job of mobilizing, then they might win a few of these that i have called for the GOP. if not, it is going to be a LONG two years. It's going to be a long two years no matter how it goes- the only question being will this group be even worse than the last. But to the other post- as long as the crackpots go down I will be happy no matter who is in charge. To put people like that in office is an embarassment.

In my area it's only local elections (and State Governor) BUT those are highly contested. I was very please to see lines out the door at the early voting site the two times I drove by.
There are also two proposed constitutional (state) amendments and two advisory questions that are highly contested. Turnout is predicted to be the highest ever in an off year.
This is one of the few times I actually believe a bulk of the voters will be educated about issues instead of voting along party lines in my area.

In my state there will be a lot of voters out just for this reason:
www.charlotteobserver.com/2014/10/26/5268189/arkansas-voters-to-decide-alcohol.html#.VFfUH1J0w5s
I don't think it'll pass but I'm going to vote in favor of it, why? Not that I'm a big drinker but I've said for years, people who want to drink will drive wherever and as far as it takes to buy liquor. So they give their tax dollars to other counties and you put people traveling on the road from the liquor store to their home drinking in lot's of cases. Both things make a dry county IMO stupid.

Years ago I attended college in north carolina for a while. The school was in a dry county because they wanted the kids to not drink. Every year there was always a couple terrible accidents from drunk kids attempting to drive home late at night over country roads from bars in the nearest wet county. (This was back when you could drink at 18). Would have been better to sell six packs at the local 7-11 and let the college kids party in their dorms, IMHO. Unintended consequences.

I don't know who I will vote for next election.
Romney a definite no, after 3 elections of losing maybe he will get the message.
he's not running. edit: here is the field;
Poll Date Sample Paul Bush Huckabee Christie Ryan Perry Rubio Cruz Walker Santorum Jindal Spread RCP Average 6/24 - 10/12 -- 11.8 11.6 11.3 10.6 10.0 7.8 7.0 6.6 4.4 3.0 2.8 Paul +0.2
Rand Paul is leading, but just barely. i don't think Huck has any chance at all, nor Christie. i think it is between Paul, Bush 3.0, and Ryan.
Biden is to old, he might be good but they still have to present good.
he will only run if Clinton doesn't, imo.
Jeb Bush would rather not
Hillary yes, I will vote for her but because there is no one better, I think she will be good but she is getting up there in age too.
I will wait and see if there is new blood
But I think this vote is going to interesting and will be closer then people think, they may not like Obama but the republicans have nothing to offer, soooo what vote? 2016?

Speaking of New Hampshire, would someone please get New Hampshire GOP Chairman Jennifer Horn some Xanax. “This is our time. We need to crush it. We need to grab it, run with it, push their heads under over and over again until they cannot breathe anymore, until the elections are over on Tuesday night and we’ve won it all,” said Horn Sunday to a group of about 400 GOPers at a Manchester rally. GOP chair: Push Dems’ heads under ‘until they cannot breathe’

The turnout in my county in the early voting has been almost as high as the entire turn out in most elections....no matter which year it was.
As far as all these polls and "models"....well, you can skewer it to favor anyone you want! Just remember that Mitt was "supposed" to win in a land slide! ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/tongue.png)

But I think this vote is going to interesting and will be closer then people think, they may not like Obama but the republicans have nothing to offer, soooo what vote? 2016? Jeb will not run this time, they will groom him for better things like the governor's office and then set the stage for Bush III as president. Do take note he is listed as the "first" Bush to win any election the first go round. He's young, got the looks, political background and he'll sweep the Hispanic vote every where on a 10:1 basis. Add money and the right timing he'll be a shoo in for 8 years.
Most of the candidates listed above I wouldn't waste my time on, might listen to what Perry has to say if he can say it right. Had all of Huckabee I wanted when he was here in Arkansas as governor, will say this he left the state on solid financial footing as will Perry in Texas so they got to be doing something right.
Sadly IMO if Hillary runs it's how many years of a lame duck Democrat president with a Republican congress to work with, same as was with Bill.
Sure was there was a Reagan Jr.

My point exactly, people who have to travel to get booze will not wait to they get home to drink. Dry counties put people in danger IMO.

turning my attention to Maine Governor- LaPage has been trailing or tied in the last FIVE polls. this might finally be the end of him. ![](http://syonidv.hodginsmedia.com/vsmileys/pray.gif) pardon my Latin, but he's a pompous ass AND a fucking idiot.

a filibuster proof majority got us ObamaCare, what makes you think that 53 seats will overturn it?

i think this is hilarious. i heard MM talking about how great it will be when the GOP gets a Senate Majority. when everyone sees that it is WORSE THAN EVER, THEN what happens?
the incredible lack of realism is bordering on ridiculous.

i think this is hilarious. i heard MM talking about how great it will be when the GOP gets a Senate Majority. when everyone sees that it is WORSE THAN EVER, THEN what happens? the incredible lack of realism is bordering on ridiculous. You must live in a glass house my friend. Reminder: What was the first bill passed by Clinton? The single largest tax increase in this country's history that's all. How did it pass? Senate tied 50/50 and when this happens who breaks the tie? Good old vice president Gore that's who. Funny thing is while Clinton campaigned for office he told everyone "got to raise taxes" and Democrats just like sheep headed to slaughter voted him right in.
articles.latimes.com/1993-08-07/news/mn-21221_1_tie-breaking-vote
Seems he's pulled another one of those change his mind things?
www.washingtonexaminer.com/even-bill-clinton-says-taxes-too-high-would-repeal-his-35-corporate-rate/article/2553832
So what happened when Congress turned Republican on the next mid term election? All that crap stopped and he was just like he was in Arkansas a lame duck. It was the last time Arkansas voted Democrat in the president's race, why? We knew we wanted to get rid of him and let everyone have a dose of his BS.
He passed taxes in Arkansas too, under the we got to do better on education, sadly as it is now when he left here Arkansas was still ranked only ahead of Mississippi in education.
Ridiculous? You're right. Democrats will bear the shame of Obama for decades to come and when the good old boys take over the Senate the bleeding will at least stop for the next two years.
And my statement on a simple majority goes to passing bills and overriding vetos not just a filibuster. Should that happen this idiototic thing called Obamamcare will go up in flames. The Democrats bear that shame also.
It's simple really just like Pryor here in Arkansas, when it's all over he can look back to 3 words:
Shoulda Coulda Woulda
He was told even by his own father he "should" not vote for Obamacare He "could" have listened and did the right thing. Had he listened he "would" not be worried about Tom Cotton
As I stated before this one single thing alone in this state put his head in the political noose and anyone with any credibility could have beat him just because he let himself get sucked into Washington's BS instead of listening to the very people here who told him not to do it.
www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/obamacare-among-issues-voters-are-unhappy-about/ar-BBcQCfP?ocid=HPCDHP
Notice he didn't mention Obamacare on those things he opposed Obama on?
www.foxnews.com/politics/2014/10/31/arkansas-senate-race/
Going to feel good today to get rid of the dirty laundry.

I didn't think we were allowed to post altered images on P&M so before I said anything I did some research on the image...
According to several posters on multiple blog sites this is an actual screen capture at the end of one of the 2008 debates. McCain got confused about which way he was supposed to exit the stage and made that memorable gesture. It appears the photo may actually be genuinr...

Thank you Thyme!!!
I voted this morning. My choice of candidates sucked. Except for the local county level judges, I happily voted for them.
NY Governor: Bully idiot child of Mario v. Weasely corrupt downstate dude who brings nepotism to a whole new level. US Representative: NYC moviemaker v. 29 year old policy maker for Paul Ryan who has never held a "real job" and uses her parents' vacation home as her "home address" so she can say she's from upstate NY.

I've always felt kinda sorry for McCain over this one, just as I often feel sorry for Biden (and others in the public eye) when they do something any of us might do and it becomes a stick to beat them with.
