I seldom get into politics, but my main question is this....what exactly does the article mean...? That he has a foreign policy? If so, that's news to me.
What we have is a President who is more interested in the wonderful trappings of the office rather than the job itself.

"The President is failing"? Of course, but we must remember....We the citizens of our once great nation, failed when we elected him.

The people who fervently approve of the President will continue to do so. The people who fervently disapprove will say everyone else is coming over to their view. The people in the middle may be moving a little towards one side.
I suppose at some point the White House will say something along the line of "The President doesn't base his decisions on popularity polls".

I think we failed some of the people...many are quite happy I believe. Millions added to food stamp program, unemployment benefits extended, those who work are now paying for their own health insurance and for the others who have lied to either get most of their premiums paid for or the taxpayers now paying for even more Medicaid patients.
The Obama agenda for a green world is working well, as again Iraq is blowing up, oil prices are increasing, coal use is hurting the coal companies and the unions. And lastly, let's not forget he just signed a large part of the Pacific Ocean to become a National Monument.
And while the world situation is looking worse and worse, he goes golfing....

Here is part of the article
The poll was crafted before the instability in Iraq grabbed headlines, so it doesn’t contain questions on that subject. It also was conducted before the United States arrested a suspect in the 2012 attack on the U.S. embassy in Benghazi, Libya.
Read the full poll here
But it shows an American public that has grown dissatisfied with President Obama on foreign policy and national security decisions.
Just 37 percent approve of his handling of foreign policy, which is an all-time low in the survey, while 57 percent disapprove, an all-time high.
What’s more, by a 44 percent-to-30 percent margin, Americans disagree with the Obama administration’s decision to secure the release of U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl in exchange for five imprisoned Taliban fighters.
We know more about the challenges facing President Obama in the next two years of his term than how this year’s congressional elections will play out in the next six months
And respondents are evenly divided if the details of Bergdahl’s disappearance from his base in Afghanistan matter in the U.S. decision to secure his release: 47 percent say the details matter, while 46 percent say they don’t.
President Obama’s overall approval rating in the poll is at 41 percent, down three points from April. That’s tied for his all-time low in the survey.
And his favorable-unfavorable rating is upside down (41 percent-45 percent) after being right-side up two months ago (44 percent-41 percent).
Perhaps most troubling for the president, 54 percent think he is unable to lead the country and get the job done, compared with 42 percent who believe he can.

i find far more coherence between Obama's foreign policy and Bush's than any other aspect of this administration. therefore, it should surprise nobody that since Bush's foreign policy was wildly unpopular, Obama's is too.
i kinda agree with Granny. we really have no foreign policy, unless d(*k wagging can be considered foreign policy. we should stop that.

The only problem is we (GOP) have a much worse approval rating. Somewhere in the 28% range. I think Bush was also at 28% when he left office.

dj, to be clear, this was not my statement. I was posting from the article. When you say positive, are you referring to above 50% or just to the 44 to 41% ratio stated?

And for that, I applaud him. His "favorability" just went up a point or two with me. Without some distractions that job would drive anyone insane. Value Buy, unlike two members, here, does not give this quote a thumbs up, "Like" to this post.

i am referring to (approval-disapproval). that number has been negative since June of 2013.

I have some sympathy for him in regards to Iraq.
While I certainly don't approve of his 180 on whether the US was sending troops to Iraq over the weekend, I don't have any position on whether sending those troops is a good idea or not.
On one hand, the US was instrumental in creating the chaos in Iraq. You disbanded and outlawed their national army, for Pete's sake.
On the other hand, is throwing more troops at the problem really going to improve the stability in the region for more than a few weeks or months? I really doubt it. And at some point the US has to pull out and stay out.
I don't know which is the better option at this point. I suspect the White House has no clue either. I won't fault them for either decision.
The instant 180 reversals on policy decisions I can do without, however.

even liberals that LIKE Obama think he is in a no win situation on Iraq. and let's be honest, he has been an Al Malaki supporter. that puts part of the blame on him. was he around when we hand picked that idiot? no. he was not. but he was around when we sent him billions in military aid, then snubbed us for political reasons. does that make Obama a bad guy? maybe, if you think enablers are bad guys.
we should stop that.

Question: Is it truly essential to America how the situation in Iraq turns out? This "haven for terrorist training" doesn't play with me. Terrorists can currently be trained in many spots around the planet. Sure, we disrupted the place but it wasn't like the Saddam dictatorship was much different than what is in existence now or what might be coming. It wasn't like we broke a shop full of "fine china".

Agreed, but supposedly they cleaned out the bank in the city they overran to the tune of 500 million and change. Gives them some hefty purchasing power. Now if they control oil producing land, someone, somewhere, will buy that oil from them, regardless if sanctions are placed on their oil, fueling their desires, whatever they may be.

It wasn't like we broke a shop full of "fine china". It's a fair statement. It's no worse than it was before. Plenty of worse things you could've blown three trillion dollars on.

There has to be a few ways to deal with money flow. i mean, my bank has no problem taking what they want from my accounts.

Value Buy, unlike two members, here, does not give this quote a thumbs up, "Like" to this post. I see a lot of Internet sites which state President Obama has played around 177 rounds of golf since elected president. I also see a lot of Internet sites stating during his term as president, George W. Bush was on vacation and away from the White House for 1,020 days.
Playing with a little math here, a round of golf with no breaks averages about 4 hours. If anyone had the stamina to do so, 6 rounds of golf could be played in a 24 period. During 1,020 days of vacation, 6,120 rounds of golf could be played.
I don't resent any president playing 177 (and more to come) rounds of golf. Nor do I resent any president taking 1,020 vacation days. Both presidents were no more than 5 seconds away from critically needed staff during a potential crisis and neither of them were ever off the clock.

Ya play the five iron off the 18th tee. No that ain't workin', that's the way ya do it. Get your money for nothin' and your press for free.

The American people are declaring this president a failure but do they place reasonable expectations upon the person holding the office of President? Sometimes it feels that we are like young children expecting to be cared for by an omnipotent parent. And when that parent proves to be less than perfect, we strike out at them.

...
Not sure where this idea comes from. Here is one concrete counterpoint to the idea. The state dinner is Washington's top fete. ... In fact, the Obamas have hosted just six state dinners, which is about the same number as George W. Bush. Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush threw more than 20, and Ronald Reagan hosted 35. www.cnn.com/2014/02/11/politics/white-house-state-dinners/ Any supporting evidence for the idea?

Obama should work 20 hours a day 7 days a week. He should never play golf. His foreign policy should be a 'boot in their ass, it's the American Way', with the approval of FAUX News. All of his policies and decisions should be vetted by Hannity/Rush/Ingraham/Levin/Coulter (pick one). He should die of exhaustion during Hillary's inauguration in 2017.

... Baroness Neville-Jones, the former Conservative security spokesman, said Britain had more young men heading to Syria and Iraq to fight than any other country in Europe.
"A sufficient number will be radicalised and will be radicalised in ways where this notion that it's the West's fault will get embedded in their thinking and they will come back with the intention of doing damage," she said. (From link above) Therefore the West should send troops into Iraq to defeat ISIS and keep troops there for eternity as a way to stop them from becoming radicalized and blaming the West?

Nope, it's time for the west to focus on the homeland.
