That's cool. I have a friend doing one of the sections by Adams this summer. ... If it is the section through Goat Rocks, it is incredible. It is on that section that the picture of Calvin comes from. I think she is doing section H? Does that sound right?

Forgot one - I got to attend an Olympic hockey game in Vancouver in 2010. I'll raise you one.....I attended the gold metal game in Lake Placid in 1980. Bought tickets from a scalper on the street because they thought that the US was going to get creamed. Took every penny in my wallet, $60 for 3 tickets. I was supposed to work at those Olympics and caught the flu. I was finally beginning to feel like I might live when I went to the games as my mom's company had a facility there that we could hang at. I also attended every single play off game in San Antonio, when the Spurs won the NBA championship in 1999. I had to buy all the series tickets in order to get tickets to the next. By the last series, I wound up having to dip into savings to pay for those tickets, I barely had enough to buy a beer during the game!

Mine are less exciting. I have eaten cougar and rattlesnake. I have been in control of a small plane (not a pilot and that was cool).

The southern end of that section is okay. She wants to make it all the way to White Pass I assure you. There is a good midway access point if her goal isn't to hike the whole section. My first ever backpacking trip was the northern half of section H. I went back and did the southern half once I decided to cover the whole Washington section. Which was a decision made because I did the northern half. It was a trip which included pouring rain for part of the trip, getting lost on a fogged in glacier, falling on the ice and dislocating my shoulder (then doing it again getting into the tent that night). I was hooked. Never would have gone back if it had been a boring walk. It has some great places to nap also:

I climbed the pyramid at Giza. Plus, rode a camel. I hiked Giza as well but skipped the camel. Those things were nasty (as well as the owners!).
We "floated" up the Nile vs down. Boat was nearly empty and the view was the same.
I've been to the Nicolas Tesla museum in Croatia and hiked through the Velebit range.
My girlfriend and I have danced (and sung) on the Pont D'Avignon in France.
I've gone Goat Packing (hiking with goats instead of horses as pack animals) in the Wind River Mountains in WY.
I've cycled western Ireland on a bike.
I've solo hiked the Grand Canyon Rim to Rim.
I've hiked a section of the Swiss Alps
I flew to Hong Kong for a weekend trip from the US
We were too cheap to do the hot air balloon ride in Cappadocia but we did stay in a cave hotel in Goreme.
I've hiked a section of the PCT but it doesn't really count. It's near our cabin in So. CA and I get a hot shower and a nice bed to sleep in afterwards. Not quite the experience described in "Wild"

I'm not much of a traveler. I have broken one girl's ankle and dislocated another girl's shoulder (twice) and been cheered on while doing it! (roller derby). My tag line is "attorney at brawl" I own a snake, his cage is in our bedroom. He is a gorgeous albino corn snake, bright orange, and he eats rats. I won the school spelling bee every year from 1st - 6th grade. When I typed that, I spelled "spelling" wrong. Thank you, autocorrect.

I was on Good Morning America when I was in first grade. Oh, I forgot I was on the Today show - in the audience outside the studio with Joe Whitte doing the weather. He actually stopped and spoke to us - really cool.

He actually stopped and spoke to us - really cool. Ours was a taped segment with the 800+ first graders in my school district. We were at the high school to create the Class of 2000 time capsule. We all waved at the camera and yelled "good morning, America!" It's a cute memory. :-)

I've dipped my toes in the Arctic Ocean. I've toured a working nuclear sub, although they don't let random civilian guests in the reactor area. I've transferred from boats to offshore platforms in Billy Pugh baskets more times than I can count. Yes, you do stand on the outside. No, you don't attach with anything other than your hands. There's a crane at the top of that rope - they use the same one for lifts of 150 tons and 150 pounds. Not a real light touch for people, especially if there's much heave. I've also transferred via a rope swing, Tarzan style. www.wss-marineoffshore.com.sg/images/Transferner.JPGEdit: I can't figure out how to post a linked picture from the Tapatalk app. The link shows a picture of a Billy Pugh basket.

I have sailed on a oil tanker (my DH was chief engineer) and was bored out of my mind in just 2 days. Got out of it at the next port even though it took 4 weeks. Have met Pope John Paul II and he called our names and prayed for us - they used to ask about people who had come in from very far away and we qualified.

Oh, a couple more... I've been dogsledding. I've been to more countries than I have states. (and gotten lost in four of them ) I've been to Gladiator School in Rome and got to catch my son in a big net, then poked him with a trident (while he was trying to hit me back with a sword). I've been to the Ceremony of the Keys (where they lock up London Tower for the night--you have to reserve a spot a few months in advance). I've met the "leading authority on Jack the Ripper" (Donald Rumbelow). I've been to both the real Stonehenge and a full-size replica (the first WWI monument in America).

I was in a movie and got rave reviews. I've cuddled cougars and leopards, just me and the big cats. No I don't have a death wish. My other wow things are all spiritual/mental in nature and not for this board sadly.

I have done things that no one would believe so no point in mentioning them. But I can say everything has been done at one time or another so nothing is unique.

These are all great ideas. I had almost exhausted my bucket list that I made at 25. Time for a new list. Belgian beer tour is now included.
Not sure about climbing mountains but I do enjoy a day hike.

I have sung on the Carnegie Hall stage twice with two different choirs.
It is a great performance hall, and wonderful décor.
Other than that my life is boring.

I stood 10 feet from Pope Francis in Vatican City last year. I met Jimmy Carter when I was 9 years old in the White House. I have met Jimmy Carter in person and chatted with him for 10 seconds! I have a friend who is his Niece (daughter of Billy Carter) I know Nancy Lopez well enough to chat with her if I see her out in town. Not to the point of friends, but acquaintances from when our daughters played sports together. Not so friendly with her husband, Ray Knight (1986 World Series MVP), though, don't care for him I work with Phillip Phillips' brother in law and have met Phillip in person. My DS saw him just the other day at a a restaurant As to what I have done.... Flew on a plane to Europe 5 days after 9/11, on the first day they resumed flights - it was very wierd experience Been to 7 capitals in Western Europe. Was on a boat that was fired up by a foreign Navy - it was on my Dad's boat in the Bahamas, very scary but turned out ok.

Other than that my life is boring. I don't really have one unique thing, in terms of knowing people or having grand experiences. My "uniqueness" comes in the quietness of daily life, rather than spectacular things. One of my students is 17 (and a boy) and working for the man this summer in his first job. At our last lesson I asked him what he was thinking for summer lessons. Our normal school year lesson time is Sunday afternoon. So my kid said to me "Oh, well I won't be working on Sundays, so we can have our lessons on Sunday!" I gave my student the stink eye and said "Um, it's summer..." And he replied "Oh, well, then we can move my lesson to Sunday mornings. How early do you want to meet?" I feel pretty good about myself that a 17 year old boy is willing to get up early on a Sunday to have lessons with me.
