A+++++, I buy only when the investment has a greater DCF then the cost!! EXAMPLE JNJ = $222 per ValuePro when 10 year npte = 2.1 and 30 adds 0.7%. God Bless, Bruce

, See, that's where I am with it all too. Unless I know that I will be involved to create value, it makes more sense to buy undervalued large caps that will be around - essentially - forever. With interests rates where they are, with how low they will most likely be for years yet to come; for the next 10-15 years it's looking like the companies that stock your household goods is the house you live in. Sure corporate bonds may have a bit better of a yield than the stock, but it's not liquid! On that same note, bonds have been making bond trades a lot of money! And the FED is - without a doubt - going to hold theirs until they mature. God Bless,

I read that about a week ago, forgot to post it. Moving in the right direction - without a doubt. Now to cut imports from OPEC and a way we go! Kash is king around here as well Ty. Can't speak for Bruce, but I'm talking theory; like when the opportunity presents itself here..

I'm starting to put a few stocks on a watch list. Corporate Bonds sound good too. How to get them?

What is your math showing you? glad to see you up and running again. t3, No Rush!!Bonds are just the thing as stock might be in Oct 2015. the MMXV I-alpha is less Negative then a month ago. I am in no rush as my DUK is doing well. Grandfather G told me he made money every month during the 1930'S and the postman brought the checks to him. Just a thought, Bruce . PS:IF YOU MUST INVEST IN STOCK LOOK AT XOM AND JNJ. BOTH ARE SELLING AT 50% OR LESS OF THE DCF FOR 10 YEARS. EXPERT 50/50 HAS MORE T-BONDS AND CASH THEN STOCK OR/AND ETF

COP's valuations are still a little high, PE is 31, like to see it lower. Would like to see it go into the mid 30's. Love there yield at 7%.
Bruce, planning to come down and look at your fine State in September, Driving through Dallas, Waco and San Antonio. Planning on taking in some of it's history along the way. Maybe we could hook up for some dinner somewhere.

ok....i will play well, if i bought a growth stock, and a few months later the stock dropped 20-30%, i would make the following assessment 1. is the reason i BOUGHT the stock in the first place still valid? yes or no...pretty simple 2. Has anything major changed at the company? (management, accidents, bad press, etc) think BP accident, or CEO resigning 3. Does the company still have a upward trend on revenue and are the products still selling? again, yes or no As long as those three issues are fine.....i may not just keep the stock. I may add to my original number of shares, and lower my overall cost per share But.....and this is a huge issue.....i am a LONG TERM holder of companies......with 8-12 years horizons and beyond I buy good quality, mostly dividend paying companies, that have decent growth And unless something happens....i usually keep and add to my shares i like this strategy, but i am wary of #2. many long term investors will sell an issue on a scary story, only to regret it, later. then again, i have mixed feelings about it. because these trends can sometimes be very persistent. TCK is a good example. it fell 30%, then it fell another 60%, and it did that TWICE in the last decade. so, there is no telling how low something can go when it starts getting negative on you.

They have been on a M&A tear this year grabbing up assets from HP and Dell, that's usually a good sign of expansion when mixed with good earnings; which they appear to have... bnlfinance.com/2016/12/05/open-text-corp-usa-otex-stock-outlook-2017/I just did a big of digging on the surface, but big data is a growth industry. What are your thoughts on the company, dj?

What are your thoughts on the company, dj? i run strictly off metrics. i like companies that have consistent growth in revenues (i figure that most companies can fix bottom line growth over time, if they have good management), low debt, and are in a favorable industry (something i know about. for example, i don't invest in banks). this company has a stellar record at every level, and good technicals. my ONLY concern is that i bought near the top.

Based on their forward fundamentals, this would only be close to the current top. Looking into next year, with corporate taxes set to be slashed, earnings are set to grow. The bull run that has been fueled in a big part by the, "USA us the best of the worst" story looks to remain in tact. This will hold true until it sets in just how bad the rest are. We seen a bit of it earlier this year when the market awoke to what the capital flight out of China really means, but for now; lower taxes are what it's all about. We may get a dip if the Federal Reserve raises rates, but the increase in WACC at this point is nothing compared to the increase in net from decreased taxes.(as I'm sure you are well aware of.) The bonus with higher rates is the cooling of the housing market, which is needed. While this will cause weakness in GDP from that sector, lower taxes will more than likely lead to increased investment from businesses. Anecdotal I know, but personally I have had people say to me, "with lower taxes, ROE and ROI targets will be much easier to meet... charge!!"

thanks, AHAM.
where do you think that corporate rates will end up? i have ONE C-Corp, and it would be very helpful to my taxes on that ONE entity if it got more favorable treatment.

No worries, anytime. Ty is probably right on. 15% is the dream for sure. I would suspect the rate to be decreased over two years to bring it basically on par with the Canadian rates. However, this is Trump and it's gotta be YUUUUGE!
