Lets say you want your core holding of XYZ at a 1000 shares and really don't want to add to it but don"t like losing 20 to 30% of your money in it and it looks like it might take it a few months now to regain it's current price back. What do you do? The smart play would be, you didn't invest ALL of your money in this stock. If you feel good about the company and it's ability to return to it's stock price then buy more at the discount. If it is paying dividends that you like, hold on. And/or buy more. A stop loss at 10% can be a very wise decision except with a volatile stock. I read a chapter on this strategy and how long it takes to earn back a loss on one stock. Disheartening.

I've been trying to show them how to get your cost basis back and work with there money. But it's nice to own stocks you can do that with. My Dad allways told me that when working with something it was allways a good thing that it is worth working with. LOL

Ty..."I" know you know...however IF things were more conducive to actually wanting to allow people here to show what they know...you would have many more people participating on these boards...however when get "green slimed" by moderators who think its their job to express "their opinion" as opposed to letting members state theirs...you get "infected" with BS. It's still a good place to add. It looks like Oil has bottomed out for the time being and some of the Oil Stocks look like there is support where they are at now.Iran getting 7 more months to get the Bomb won't hold well with Isral, Sadis and a few more. Oil will go higher next year. JMO

It's going to be interesting to see what OPEC says tomorrow. Like has pointed out, the social structure of the mid east countries is under strain and oil revenues are needed to keep things funded. 29 million barrels at $80 is better than 31 at $70. In any event, it's nice to see SU and TRP holding up nicely.

JMO It's not a good thing when the strong areas of the uneven economic recovery get the wind knocked out of its sails, no It's almost like people have forgotten that before the last year or so TX and ND were basically the only two areas of the US that were experiencing any real growth. Even now there are still lots of ppl saying that only part time fast food jobs are the only ones out there...

I am so very sorry for your families loss. I had a friend that had bone cancer and I know how "very painful" it is in the last months of life.
God, bless you and your family.

Thanks for your support and kind words, it is appreciated.
As for the Energy Sector, where to look for profits going forward ? I still like the MLP"s. There is still a lot of oil and gas that still has to be moved around the Country with production the same or increasing for this year and for the most of them have good dividends. The Oil Drillers have most of their oil hedged for this year and most of the experts think oil will be back around 70.00 by year end. That's to be seen but oil will bottom out at some point where there will be good oppertunities to invest in it's future again. I'm thinking that would be over the next 2 to 3 months. JMO

With more Rigs available, I can see the cost to drill come down. Everybody still wants to make money. A good thing for the long run.
