I wish he could control his stress and let things go! I also wish he could stop believing that he doesn't need to rinse or clean a single dish that goes into the dishwasher no matter how well caked on the food is. He thinks the dishwasher will get it even though it doesn't. Not that he notices, because he just puts the offending dish away once it runs through the dishwasher. I wish my DH would stop eating after one plate full. His brain doesn't register feeling full, and he just keeps eating. I am concerned about his weight and the heavy breathing that happens when he ties his shoes.
I don't understand people who have to eat the food just because it is there.
My worst fear is that he will not be able to enjoy his retirement due to a health issue. In his mind he will work on his weight and wellness after he retires. In my mind, I worry about him dropping over dead before COBRA runs out.

Overall DH is awesome. But it's the little things that drive me up a wall.
Learn how to load the dishwasher! OMG How hard is it to put the plates in the slots for plates!
Put away his clothes. I do the laundry, fold the clothes, and put them on his side of the bed. My clothes I put away in my closet on the appropriate shelves, hanging rod etc. He takes the neatly folded clothes and drops them on the floor in front of his closet. And there they sit! He can't even close the closet doors because he has so damn many clothes in the way.
Otherwise he does 50% of the cleaning, all of the yard work and about half of the cooking. I really can't complain.

I love my DH!
I just wish he would clean the kitchen without being asked. I don't mind doing all the cooking, I just hate the kitchen cleaning that comes with it. Last night I was purely tuckered out, so I begged him to do the dishes after dinner. I did a little dance this morning when I saw that he did them before he went to bed last night! Yay!
I also wish he wouldn't let work intrude on family time as often as it does. It's hard to wish this, because I'm sure he has the same wishes about me. Our jobs can get in the way sometimes, but we both feel the income is needed to provide for the kids. That private school tuition is going to start next year, and though it is quite reasonable, it is still pricey. It's a priority for us.

The thing I wish for the most, is that he would recognize when the house needs cleaning. He says he wants to help, but I have to suggest what to do. He doesn't see dirt or dog hair in the carpet (when it needs vacuuming). I've joked for years that he can't see any clutter below knee level. Yeah, that's my major complaint, too! DH is a dear, supportive man, responsible with money, a good cook, handles everything related to the cars and pretty much frees me to focus on my job and managing the money and maintaining my fabulous body, but... Clutter doesn't seem to bother him and he can go for months without dusting or vacuuming a particular area, till I ask him (nicely) to attend to it.

Right now, go to the doctor! He hasn't been feeling well for a few weeks now off and on. It's some stomach issue and he's being stubborn. Like steff, dishes too! He went to the ER today. Says he's doing okay. Also had shortness of breath so he figured better safe than sorry.

Some of the house tasks and yard tasks. Being more open emotionally. I wonder what it is with women and wanting to share emotions. I'll let you in on a secret Milee, there are times where guys really don't feel anything at all. Other times you get upset over something stupid and saying it out loud just makes it sound more stupid.

Years ago there was a really funny sketch where the comedian was talking about this exact issue. He was amazed at how his wife was always thinking about something (did a great imitation of her stream of consciousness). Then to illustrate he said "here's the soundtrack to a woman's mind" and hummed a few bars of a really busy, frantic melody. "And here's the sound track to a guy's mind..." Pause. One note. Long pause. Two slow notes. Pause. One Note...
You get the idea.

Stop Smoking. We are coming up on 10 years together and he knew that first date that I wanted him to stop smoking. I have resigned that I can't control it. I've encouraged him to quit, but I'm not going to ruin my marriage over it.

Make more money, clean more, start fewer projects and finish more of them. Sent from my ADR6410LVW using proboards OMG - we have the same husband! DH is great at demolition, but never seems to finish the rebuilding phase. Our kitchen remodel began in 2001? I think, and I'm still in the "temporary" kitchen upstairs. The kids don't even remember using the old kitchen anymore, at least the ones that were already alive then.

A simple one room paint job can drag on for months, and him redoing our hardwood floors almost led to a divorce. I absolutely hate when he starts a sentence with "let me ask you something, how do you feel about..." because I know it's going to be some crazy scheme involving knocking down a wall that will never, ever be finished.

It's one thing to have a crappy kitchen but once we rip the sucker apart - it better be put back together in a few months.

Just curious, what do you want exactly when you request your husband to be more open emotionally? Do you want him to come home one day, give you a big hug, and say, "Oh Milee, let's just sit down and have a long talk about our feelings."

No. If he did that, I'd know he was an imposter that had kidnapped my husband and was wearing his skin.
I'm not huge on sitting and talking at length about my feelings, either, so that wouldn't be very appealing. But it would be nice to know that he does indeed have feelings sometimes. Happy, angry, sad, loving, tired, excited, quizzical... assuming he does indeed experience these things... all look and sound the same. He's very closed off.
