Every month in his Investment Advisory newsletter, Stansberry & Associates Investment Research founder Porter Stansberry alerts his subscribers to several types of investments: 1) “No Risk” stocks that represent ultra-safe, long-term investments 2) “Next Boom” recommendations that feature undervalued stocks poised for growth, and 3) “Forever” stocks that are cheap blue-chips which will provide excellent returns… forever. Porter has shown his subscribers some spectacular gains in the past few years, such as 133% on Intuitive Surgical, 233% on Celgene, 215% on ID Biomedical, and 206% on Elan.
Porter believes that most people take too much risk with their money. He recommends that his subscribers put the majority of their money into his “No Risk” stocks – and hold on to them for many, many years.

Really? If you haven't figured it out yet... the ONE thing you can always count on is some loon with a calculator or seasonality software program predicting something they won't back when we arrive at the time line.
Straight ahead-- war. The war severs us entirely from the abusive 20th Century where we nearly exhausted all fossil resources in the pursuit of-- luxury. Time to go back to work balancing things. The only "end" in sight is the hoarding of money as a build up for power and mongers. It's supposed to be CURRENCY and again it will be, sans the hoarders preventing it. The further we go the farther we fall behind. That frustrates the insane with wealth. Pretty soon they'll fire all the puppets and do it themselves. That's the break that shakes snake until it can't rattle and gives us back our chattel.

He's just using fear to sell his newsletter. I came across this nonsense two full years ago when a prospective client wanted me to emmulate it in some marketing copy. I turned the job down.

Stansberry & Associates released a long video on oil about 2 months ago. Said it could go to $120.00 maybe even $150.00. Was a detailed look at Iran's efforts to cause strife in every country surrounding Saudi Arabia and choke off our oil.
So far the report is right on.

Midwipe, Just what exactly did I lie about? Those stocks are the "stellar" examples cited on the website. Those companies do and make the very things I said they did, and you have long touted the evil of "pharma companies and vaccines, particularly flu vaccines." Where, exactly, did I lie? Once again Mid, you got caught "headlining" without really bothering to actually "check out your sources". Thank you for citing sources that have made big money for their clients IN STOCKS NO LESS, by recommending companies that you actually despise. lmfao !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I watched 40:00 of the video, Mid. There was no promotion of specific stocks, gold, or newsletters.
You can let the army of Franks believe what they will. It makes a compelling case for the end of the US dollar as the world's reserve currency. If they want to argue with Bill Gross, Jim Rogers, Robert Zoellick, Ricardo Amaral, etc., etc., then let them.
Curiously, the video discusses the normalcy bias (the Kool-Aid syndrome) around 42:00.

Virgil,
And in the meantime, that same guy is selling you on the stock market through "safe stocks". Read the word S T O C K S . Those pharmas are specifically noted. You guys can't have it both ways.
Incidentally, how is it that my posts get wacked because I said Mid sounded stupid, but he can call me a fraud, a liar, and more? Particularly since I quoted his source?

You guys are arguing Apples against Oranges!
What does the stock market have to do with the US losing its place as the world currency?
Stock market will go on regardless - And yes someday the US will lose its place as the worlds reserve currency - It will just mean an end to our reckless ways. Even third world countries have stock markets!

PORTER STANSBERRY DEFENDS CREDIBILITY AS VAXGEN CRASH FOLLOWS STOCK HYPE EFFORTS This page is a resource of Brian Deer for a Sunday Times of London investigation of California-based VaxGen Inc, which led to dealings with Frank Porter Stansberry, a tip sheet operator who lured the unwary with claims of proof that AidsVax works and predictions that the stock would soar, just before it collapsed. Soon after, the US Securities and Exchange Commission went after Stansberry, with the result below. [Commentary: friend or fraud?] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A midnight announcement on February 24 2003 that the candidate HIV vaccine AidsVax showed no effect in a phase III clinical trial was long predicted by independent scientists. Inquiries by Brian Deer during his 1999 Sunday Times investigation of VaxGen Inc, unearthed a worrying picture, and led to the prosecution of Dr William Heyward, who as HIV vaccine chief at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention cheer-led for VaxGen's technology and arranged federal grants whilst secretly engaged to join the company As the AidsVax trial progressed, VaxGen forged another relationship - with stock hypester Frank Porter Stansberry. Annotated extracts from Porter Stansberry material claiming to prove that AidsVax works and predicting that the stock would soar are available at this site. On the day of the announcement, however, VaxGen opened at $3.31 - shedding a staggering twenty bucks from its 52-week high and more than $30 from its post-IPO peak. Nevertheless, in the email exchange below, Porter Stansberry, who at the time of publication is in litigation with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, argues that Deer has treated him unfairly www.scam.com › message board › Investment Scams

Mid, nuke the "Q-TIP IS A..." paragraph in your post or I'll do it for you. Somehow I think it's possible for Mid to support the conclusions in the video even without condoning the video's creator's company's involvement with a vaccine manufacturer in 1999. ETA: They're all from the past four months. What's your point?

I think it's possible for Mid to support any conclusions in any videos regardless of the source so long as it supports his mantra. The point Virgil, is that you have a guy calling for the "End of America", or at least it's currency, while he's trying to pry some of that same currency from your hands and into his select stocks. It's just a credibility thing. You guys can buy into whatever you want. I made my point. W.C. Fields was a genius.

Hey no problem Virgil. He can leave it up there and let everybody enjoy the whole flow and flavor of the postings. I just needed confirmation that the "rules" apply to everyone.

He doesn't actually present "select stocks" in the video (at least not in the first 48:00). If he does in the last 12:00, fine. He works in an industry where accurate predictions coincide with profitable investment strategies. Put differently: videos of this kind inherently "pump" certain investments.
I think calling Mid a hypocrite in this case is a bit premature, though, don't you?
Yes, Stansberry and Mid have very different views on "safe" investments, but that doesn't invalidate the arguments made in the first 48:00. Moreover, Mid hasn't endorsed or even mentioned any of the "select stocks".
Correct me if I'm wrong. This seems like classic Frankicistic behaviour: ignore the message, latch on to some tangential factor, and then pretend that none of the facts and analysis in the video matter because there's a possibility the creator has ulterior motives.

No, you're right. Calling you a liar and a fraud is uncalled for. That sentence has got to go.
I can't go around deleting everything. Mid's "pumper" comments. Your "Midwipe" barb.
But you're not a fraudster. Mid's not stupid. I wish you two would toke up or something before you hit the "Post Reply" button.

Hey Virgil,
It seem like very "Midcoyistic" behavior on your part. The guy sells stock market investments. He was selling them at the time he posted the "end" video. He is talking out both sides of his mouth. Both the video, as well as his stock picks and investment advice advertisements are on the same homepage. The message? It's the typical "tie into the fear factor" marketing strategy. As soon as you buy into his schpeel, he'll ask you for your "worthless" currency. I asked Mid a question on another post regarding the end of the currency. He won't give a direct answer, which is really answer enough for me. In the last few days, money has moved from many investments into....Treasuries..the USD, because it's considered safe the world over. People don't buy dollars because their gold backed, they buy them because they know they'll be here tomorrow. There is no doubt that from a hard backed currency standpoint, the dollar is obviously diluted. Worthless? Never. Stocks and markets collapsing? Don't bet on it.
As far as Mid, well it's beyond me to be able to figure out how a guy can hope for a stock market and currency collapse when he openly says that he owns stocks? That tells me that he is either incredibly self destructive, or he's less than honest about his supposed investments.

To reiterate my points: - He is not selling anything in the video. It is not a sales video. I could care less about his website or his business.
- He promotes several "free guides" in the last 10:00 of the video. He is entitled to do so, and it does not invalidate his earlier arguments.
The video makes a compelling case otherwise. Then I suppose you and Mr. Stansberry will have to agree to disagree.

Post by frankq on Feb 23, 2011 19:20:42 GMT -5
And disagree we will I suppose. My comments on Treasuries come from financial news sources/networks. I don't know where Stansberry gets his info. Since Stansberry touts the purchase of stocks, I guess we can agree on something. When Stansberry and assorted others begin to refuse payment for goods and services in USD, then we'll talk further.

Mid, I deleted #31 and #32.
Frank didn't claim to have watched the video. He is attacking the credibility of your source, which is perfectly within his discretion to do.
I won't tolerate him attacking your intellect. I won't tolerate you calling him a liar/fraud unless you can show a specific statement he's made and then prove that it's untrue.
If you want to strengthen your argument, respectfully take Frank to task on the many arguments Stansberry presents in the video.
