A little rich white guy adopts poor African American kid humor is funny. madonna and Angelina heard their share when they went to Africa to hand pick the kids whose life they would change.

It's easier to make a joke about the "lone black person in the GOP" than to actually report credible news.
I especially like the way that one of the idiots involved is using the "if you have a problem with it then YOU are the racist one!" excuse. Stay classy MSNBC!

For the record...it's Mitt's grandchild. He didn't "hand pick" anything. Now, yes...I'm sure his kids aren't hurting for money but it's still a lame attempt at humor...or to take a jab at the GOP.

Yea, I saw this. It's just stupid and insensitive.
But IMHO news reporters stopped reporting news at least 20 years ago and just went to opinion pieces.

It wasn't funny because MSNBC talking heads are not funny people. They should let Jon Stewart do do the jokes.

Why don't news people stick to the news. A Sunday episode of MSNBC's political commentary show ... (from the link in the OP, emphasis added) If you want news, you shouldn't go to a political commentary show. ... joked Dean Obeidallah ... (from the link in the OP) And especially ones who have panelists who are not news people. We have lost the ability to distinguish news from commentary ... from entertainment...

Do you know how many times a week I feel compelled to point out the lack of evidence and logical fallacy in the BLOGs that people post on facebook as conclusive news...
It really scares me sometimes...

words to remember next time rush/hannity/beck infuriates people. so it's ok now for smug haters to use an innocent baby to make derisive political commentary?

If a media outlet was started that only reported the news, it would probably fail on the first day because the only 1 person watching it would be me. You can't stir up a big audience that will sell commercial time by merely reporting the facts.

...so it's ok now for smug haters to use an innocent baby to make derisive political commentary? That would be a boring discussion with (almost?) all coming down on the side that it isn't okay. Fortunately, the OP didn't go there. This discussion of whether the American people have lost sight of what is "news" and what is "commentary" at least as some potential. Personally, I think that it was never true that the majority of people understood the difference in a meaningful way.

Actually I'd like a fact based channel, but it wouldn't be a big sell. That's why we can't escape Brittany, Miley Cyrus, or Bieber. The media milks them for views and their own coffers. Sounds like a tasteless thing to say, but I don't want to actually read an article on it. The quickest way to get your 15 minutes of fame seems to be saying something tasteless about a celebrity, family members of famous people, or minorities.

All one has to do is look at what little is being posted on the P&M bored ( ) the past couple of weeks, as well as the topics which are being talked about, to realize that a political commentary show would have to be really struggling to find something/anything to talk about right now.

Good thing about the Internet is your exposure to that can be a little less but you still get pics of Miley and the current Brittany show pic.

bho is almost a has-been so isn't news-worthy.

And yet makes fun of a white Republican (rino) billionaire who probably had no say in the adoption (or cared whether he had a say, either) I am sure if Rush had did a nasty piece on this it would have multiple threads keeping mhhmm very busy.

Well, it was, but part of the problem as I saw it, was being presented on who's show this was being discussed. Mellissa should have been a LOT MORE understanding of the situation.
Similar to the Robin Roberts fiasco where she came out and thanked her life partner and she was burned in the media for hiding her from the press when Robin did her big public program on her fight with cancer and how great her family members were, with no mention of her life partner. I imagine the National Enquirer was rather put out on that one, as well as Fox News

You can't stir up a big audience that will sell commercial time by merely reporting the facts. Exactly...what I think this issue boils down to is that there were no news stories going on at the time, so MSNBC "created" a news story to fill the void. There's only so many times the news people can talk about New Years Eve crap before they know people are changing the channel

Where was Robin Roberts "burned in the media for hiding her from the press"?
