What swag did you end up getting and how's your holiday going so far?
Mine went okay, though Dad's going to the emergency room. He's been having awful nosebleeds since he got this cold. I'm not too worried about it, but it sucks nonetheless.
I got hiking stuff mostly. I got a compass, hiking backpack, poncho, water bottle, things of that nature. I also got some jeans and a lamp.

It has been nice. I went to bed early, and slept late. I have lots of good food cooking. I talked to a friend on the phone. I was given cash, a gift card, and almost a half gallon of fruit salad. I received 3 kinds of fudge, and Christmas cookies. One lady found sprinkles that had small snowflakes in them. I did not share them. I shared some cookies, 2 of the types of fudge but kept one for myself. One man paid for my hamburger yesterday. People were so nice to me that it just gave me a big lift. I played secret Santa to one peep. It was so much fun, and they won't know it was me.

I got a few things from DSS and DIL and grandkids. DH and I didn't exchange gifts this year as we just moved into the new house and had to buy all kinds of stuff for it including a new washer and dryer. I guess that's my gift!

We all have the flu, but are mending so I don't want to complain too much. Still no grandfathers today, didn't want to pass anything along. We are just watching movies and playing with a few new things, my sweaters and gift cards will wait. I might read a new book later.

Kind of low key here. This is the first time I haven't had all 3 kids home. Youngest DS19 hasn't made it home from college yet. After school was out, he and GF went on a school trip to NYC and are now with GF family, ~2 hours from here. They will be here tomorrow for a week and a half.
DS21 has been home from college for about a week.
DD22 got off work yesterday and drove 14 hours to get here at 6:30 am. We did not get a lot of sleep last night worrying about her.
We are very low key about presents, just a few small things here and there. Will take all the kids shopping after Christmas to get clothes and other needs.

The hiking socks are the best gift and what I really wanted.
$100 GC to Costco. DH is giving me his too. My plan is to use them towards a 2 year membership to 24 fitness...after I try out some classes.
New wine opener
Beautiful 55 year old Saki set from when DFIL and MIL were in Guam when DH was a wee tyke. Looks brand new. Has never been used.
Italian cordial glasses and note paper (I think these are re-gifts as I already busted MIL for re-gifting some appetizer spreaders I gave her two years ago). We certainly don't need more of this stuff. My pleas to get rid of stuff means she's dumping her old stuff on us.
Knit hat and scarf from one of DH's aunts. Measuring spoons from DH's other aunt. We didn't get them anything this year because they are both out of state. Looks like we have a couple of gift cards to get!
Some of these gifts are staying here in the Portland area. We purposefully brought small suitcases.

Slippers, pj's, magazines, earrings, chocolates, various things to upgrade the kitchen including a ceramic knife, my shortbread cookies....very nice Christmas. GW2 and I went to see Hunger Games Catching Fire today. What a good movie! I can't wait for part 3!

DH and I have a $50 limit for Christmas (although we both did exceed it a bit this year). The Dog got me some scrapbooking markers, DS got me a case for my cricut cartridges and DH got me a carrying case for my cricut.
the Dog got DH a walking dead collectable figurine, DS got his dad a small board game and I got him a big board game that he has been lusting over. We got the boy some stocking stuffers, 3 t-shirts, Dr. Who sleep pants, Pandemic (board game) and a new fancy gaming laptop. The laptop was the only thing he asked for. Technically he asked for cash so he could save up for the laptop but we found a great deal on one so we bought it for him. He was so excited he got a little teary-eyed when DH was giving him the stats (ram, processor, graphics, etc). He says he loves it.
We went to see the Hobbit (Christmas tradition- we go to a movie every Christmas)
Having DS' favorite meal for dinner tonight- appetizers. He loves it when we do this. DH is making homemade chicken wings and we have stuffed mushrooms, risotto balls, etc. We only do this for Christmas and DS' birthday.
Doing Christmas with my parents and siblings on Saturday.

DH and I didn't exchange gifts this year. Instead we took ourselves shopping. I got a new chilly weather running outfit from Penny's and he got a bunch of new clothes from Old Navy. My parents got him a gift set from bath and body works that he's been t cheap to buy himself. I'm going to my parents tomorrow and they'll give me my gift then. Since they live in the frozen tundra, aka MIchigan, hopefully my gift involves some warm weather clothes (I live in Florida, land of flip flops. I'm thinking I better pack my long underwear!)

Pretty mellow, but usually is. I go to dinner at BFF's and spend a few hours with her family. We do the family get together with my dad, sis, and her kids the weekend after Christmas so we'll get together this weekend. I may or may not get a gift from her. Ya never know. Dad always gives money. I got money from Mon and a few really nice handmade items (she's a quilter/sewer) and she made a beautiful mini tree skirt, a decorative pillow with French theme, a little zippered pouch for cosmetics, etc., a fleece dog bed for the pups, and oven mitts. And she always gets me a AAA membership. I got $100 GC from aunt and uncle, and some small gift cards from BFF.

It's just the two of us, we don't exchange gifts. Went to a movie this afternoon, saw The Wolf of Wall Street. It was OK, but 3 hours was about an hour too long.
Came home and had a nice dinner.

That sounds like MY kind of Christmas! (Not the loss of CC on the slopes part ) - but I skiing. Glad you had a good time!
I would have adored being in the Rockies this year for a ski holiday - at our "Castle in the Mountains - it's a winter wonderland in December - and 4 or 5 very challenging ski slopes nearby. (Not all are challenging, they do have bunny slopes - but most are pretty steep and not for the novice).

I got a kitchen knife from my parents, and a couple weeks ago, I got homemade creamer and waffle mix from my brother. Christmas isn't real big for the adults in my family...
I made the waffles, and other than that haven't had to cook for two days--Dad made dinner last night, and we've got enough leftovers to last us a couple lunches (I'll cook dinners).
DS didn't wake up until around 10:00, and I took a nap this afternoon. He disappeared to look at theater shows (one of my gifts was a note that I'd take him to whatever one he wanted in Portland or Seattle, as well as a friend if he wanted to bring someone), and to spend his amazon gift card.
So, I've been lounging around reading Game of Thrones. A nice, quiet day.
Sorry about your dad, hope they just recommend a humidifier and it's nothing too serious!

I got some new necklaces, a bottle of wine, book about cat people (lol), Under Armour cold gear (and of course I have pertussis so I can't even fricking run right now!), and hubs and I got enough gifted money from his mom and my dad to cover our Union season tickets. My sister's cat died a little bit ago. Poor guy was so sick, I burst into tears when I saw him because it such a shock. I said good-bye to him and when I got home I smothered my two cats in hugs and kisses.

And I'm glad everybody else got good stuff (or at least nothing too horrible...)
And I'm happy Swamp still has power.

Just the two of us today. Big family dinner on Sat. DH surprised me with a macro lens for my camera. I'm making one of his favorite dishes for dinner.
Had lunch with son and granddaughter yesterday.
low key and pleasant.

I got lovely gifts but despite the fact that DS1 came in from the Middle East, DD made sure it was the Xmas from hell.
To say she hated all her gifts, very loudly, would be a great understatement. To say she ruined our day would be a great understatement. DD gave Regan from The Exorcist a run for her money. Regan lost, DD totally outdid her.
DH and I spent the day feeling like we had been run over by a huge truck, while the three boys tried to make things better (and succeeded, to some extent).
Thankfully their aunt (who is Jewish) invited them all out to dinner tonight. She was kind enough to invite DS3 too, even though he is not technically her nephew. DH and I just collapsed on the couch. And I cried, a LOT.
Bottom line, Merry Christmas, we gave DD (and the first D doesn't start for Dear) her walking papers tonight. We have decided we need her out of the house, ASAP, she is too toxic. I'm still in shock that DH came to the same conclusion. I've been on her school FB page, I found a guy who was advertising a sublet a week ago, starting in January. I wrote to him, and I'm PRAYING that it's still available. If not I will post an ad myself, but I have to be honest, as much as I'd like to, I won't just chuck DD out of the house six months before she gets her Bachelor's degree.
We all have to do what we have to do, I'm not going to cut her loose financially 2.5years into a 3 year Bachelor program, but at this point, she needs to go, the sooner the better. And if I pay her rent for six months, I'm fine with that, even if I have to take out a small loan.
She sent me a stilted and pat text message apologizing, the minute she and her brothers drove off to have dinner with their aunt. I know her brothers "made" her do it. For the first time in my entire life, with four kids, I refused to accept her apology.
She never expected this in a million years. When I told her she had to use some of her school vacation to find another place to live, she told me, she doesn't have time, she has other plans. I said, well, DH and I both feel strongly about the fact that you need to move out, so you'll have to find the time, because you're not welcome to live here anymore. She was lying in her bed upstairs totally stricken, visibly she doesn't know what hit her. You can act like a monster once, twice, 10 times, 50 times maybe, but at one point, the people you are acting monstrous to may say that's enough, I've had it, no more.
All I want for Christmas is for that sublet to still be available.

Thank you Wrong ... but my DD is 21 now, and nearly a college graduate. I expected it in MS and HS, but at this point, at 21 and nearly a college graduate, it doesn't seem like it will ever get better.
And at this point frankly I don't care whether or not it does (obviously I hope it does but I'm not holding my breath). But I refuse to be abused by her anymore.

Thanks friends, I need to go to bed now. I can't wait for this Christmas to be over. We are invited to our best friends' house tomorrow for Boxing Day, and I know I can't cancel, but I don't see how I can face anybody.

Sorry you're going through this.
