And I personally do not want anyone running for office that believes this garbage. The theory of evolution is a joke. If we came from apes then why are there still apes and why are they not standing upright and walking out of the forest daily? After all now is when they would be in greatest need to evolve as they are losing there habitat and food sources. I have never heard a plausible explanation for this and will not believe until I do. Not to mention what about all of the other animals out there? Now I do believe in survival of the fittest but that is not the same as evolution.

Wasn't that the kicker? The implication that the news anchor - a female - wasn't capable of it. That's how I took it, like she was just decorative and not part of the journalism......so he doesn't have to address her but question who is writing her questions....

I also remember the first thing out of Biden's mouth when asked if he'd vp to hillary, the first thing he said was "I love bill clinton......" finally got around to saying he would not vp for hillary.

Oh, please. That rumor was debunked months ago. And it was made all but irrelevant considering that her unmarried 17-year-old daughter ended up getting pregnant anyway (gotta love that abstinence-only sex ed). Continuing to spread this rumor is as bad as the other side continuing to insist that Obama is Muslim, and apart from being completely untrue, it obscures the real, legitimate questions about Palin.

I never said I believed in nothing.

Although, if one did believe in nothing, the very belief would make nothing something and then......the space time continuum could well crack and we'd be sucked into a vortex and then maybe we'd all find we got along on the other side.

T-Bird let's take the Spainish Inquisitition. It is actually very on point for today because their world was very similar to our post-911 world. The Spainish had just ousted the Moors leaders from Spain. If you were a Moor or a Jew, you were still allowed to live there just not hold any office or important position. The Moors would continue to make raids on seaside villages, capturing people and selling them as slaves in Arab marketplaces. Whole charitable societies grew to try and buy these people's freedom back. Hysteria grew that there were traitors living among them. People would accuse their neighbors as really being Moors or Jews and just pretending to be Catholic so they could betray us. A lot of those accusers were actually self-motivated to settle some scores. The Spanish had choices. They could round up all the Moors and Jews and put them in detention camps like we did to the Japanese but they opted not to do that. They decided that the best way to see if someone was only pretending to be Catholic but was instead of Moor was to test them on their faith. To be impartial and not be accused of being politically motivated, they asked the Vatican to send its inquizator. In short, they received a trial, unlike the folks in Gitmo. It was not illegal to be a Moor or a Jew in Spain, it was against the law to pretend to be a Catholic to gain political influence. Remember this is a country at war. The vast majority of people were released. Even those found guilty, were usually let go with a warning for the first two offenses. (i.e. they were deemed to be lying for petty gain, not a national security issue) for the time and the circumstances it was a remarkably fair system. Relatively very few people were actually executed at a time when executions were common for things like being a pickpocket and other small offenses. It might be said, their treatment was fairer than our treatment of the Japanese during WWII, and of our political prisoners now.

The situation has been so taken out of context and the numbers who died blown up, you would have to be a real fan of medieval history to get any perspective. The Spainish Inquizition did not occur in a vacuum because they decided everyone should become Catholic or die. They wanted to safeguard the people from internal betrayals, and safeguard the people from false accusations.

Trae, how about a "dancing with the stars" thread? That would really show the animosity between the left and right.

Of course we have been asked to be nice and not bring our "dislikes" with us, but it is hard when you are saving such prime examples to "save".
