Woody Harrelson - before he was famous. I met Shirley Chisholm when I was in college (I was a star-struck, tongue-tied idiot ). I also met William Windom once. I've been told that I "sparred" in a ring with the late boxing champion Jose Torres - but I was a toddler at the time and have absolutely no memory of it. I've seen Jerry Mathers sp? (leave it to beaver), but I don't think we were introduced - don't really remember - he was once married to a local woman. As I was walking to work, I watched Woody Harrelson and Keifer Sutherland film a scene for The Cowboy Way on 53rd Sreet ìn NYC. Sutherland was much shorter than I expected.

I met and done a one day lecture with Dr. Louis K. Diamond of Blackfan-Diamond Syndrome.
My mom met and chatted with Princess Alexandra also some former British Prime Minister [name escapes me now].
I grew up in a household with a celebrity and the hanger-ons just drove me nuts.

I designed (and my company made) several pieces that are in Kevin "Noodles" Wasserman's house (from the band the Offspring- Pretty Fly for a White Guy is one of their songs). He and his wife are both pretty friendly. Neighbors of Sandra Bullock (saw her and said "Hey" but that's it). Also designed things for Mark Brazill - created of "That 70's Show". His house was pretty cool.
Former NFL player Autry Beamon now works for a company that my employer does business with. I see him a couple of times a year. He is super nice and very embarrassed when people bring up his NFL days.
An NFL team does Summer Training Camp in my town so I've met and gotten autographs of dozens of them over the years. The MN Twins came through on this caravan thing and did a big meet and greet that my dad took us too. Got autographs from a dozen guys (still have the baseball the signed)- including Hall of Famer Harmon Kilabrew. (he is considered royalty in Minnesota)

I've had some famous teachers: Frank McCourt (HS) and John Irving (college).
As a journalist at (two separate) press conferences, Will Smith, Tom Cruise and Penelope Cruz. Tom Cruise gave me an autograph for my son.
Will Smith actually picked me up and swirled me around. The journalists were seated on both sides of the room, he "made his entrance", came down the middle, everybody said "Bonjour Mr Smith!" and I said "Hi Will!" He stopped in his tracks, said Hey, you're American! He picked me up and swirled me around LOL.
ETA: I also went to college with David Crane and Marta Kaufman (creators of Friends) and author Mitch Albom. I knew them in college but we were never close, so needless to say we never kept in touch.

Oooo, I've thought of some more.
When I was in college at UCLA in the 60s, I met Kareem Abdul-Jabbar when he was still Lew Alcindor. Well, actually, I accidentally crashed into him when he was coming out of the student union building and I was going in. He was very nice. And very tall.
When I was stationed in Berlin in the 1970s, I met the Chieftans in the Irish Pub on Eisenacher Strasse after a concert. They were very nice.

David Siegel was one of my professors in law school. If you are a lawyer in NYS, or went to,law school in NYS, you know who he is. If you aren't a lawyer, he's nobody.
He is the expert on NYS civil law practice rules.

Off the top of my head and in alphabetical order, these would remember me:
Bill Buckner
Jack LaLanne
Gordon Moore
Sinbad
ETA - met Ronald Reagan and both Governor Browns when I was a kid. Met Leon Panetta in college as he was our Representative.
Worked in corporate events and many people did events for us: Dick Cheney (thank God he did not die on our stage,) Lenny Kravitz (his contract was a blast to red-line,) Denzel Washington (came with Lenny and very scruffy as he was not working,) Blue Man Group, Bruce Jenner (always wanted to reply "And this is Cathy Rigby,") cant remember the rest but most were just kind of weird. Oh, Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, Andy Grove and Craig Barrett, sat next to the guy who founded Web MD on long flight and taught Zsa Zsa Gabor how to use a medical device on the phone.

Christmas dinner with actor Charles Durning at his home. That reminds me- Thanksgiving dinner with Rebecca Soni at my brother's home (she and my nephew were dating at the time).

What was Charles Durning like? Loved his work, especially in Tootsie.
Also, lots of male celebrities are short - the camera loves them the same way it loves tall, thin women. Very strange illusions there.

These aren't real exciting, but i met Tony Danza at the San Gennaro feast, Charle Oakley at a car show at the Jacob Javits center, and Pele at a diner in Hackensack. Can't think of any others.

I met two of the Ravens football players at a club once. Ray Lewis and another guy, QB, I think. I had NO idea who they were and I *think* they got pretty annoyed once they realized that.
Other than that, I can't think of anyone.
My dad sees Will Smith whenever they (Will and Jada) visit MD. I guess he likes to go for a run at the same park as my Dad.

I also met Donna Summers ... my friend and I were in the back booth of a nondescript diner in midtown NY, catching up. She suddenly realized DS was in the booth behind us. When we left, my friend insisted we go up to her, I said, no, leave her alone. My friend said, no way. She went up to her, and told her, we are very close friends from college, and we loved dancing to you in college. DS gave us a big smile, a regal head nod, and a royal arm wave, and off we went LOL.
Last one I can think of: I grew up next door to Art Garfunkel's aunt (in an apt building). So occasionally, I'd see him in the hallway on Jewish holidays, waiting for his aunt to open the door. He and Paul Simon wrote "Me and Julio" about our local JHS, one town over from me (I'm not sure which town they grew up in).
We all grew up in Queens. The JHS was in Forest Hills. I grew up in Kew Gardens. For the life of me I cannot remember the number of that JHS ...
ETA: It was JHS 190, Russell Sage.

I also drank with Jack Nickalaus and Bruce somebody, they were in town for a seinor PGA tournument and I told them how I got hit in the head with a golf club the one and only time I golfed Yep, I'm a dumbass! They thought that was damn funny

I met all the members of Metallica when their tour bus stopped at the truck stop diner I worked at on their way to Las Vegas. They were all very nice. Several other bands came through while I worked there but the cool ones always seemed to come through on my days off or on other shifts. I was always working when some country or oldies group I'd never heard of came through.

He also was much shorter than I expected - but very charming. Bono was much shorter than I expected too, and also very charming.....except that his bodyguards wouldn't let the couple guys in our group into the cabana with us ladies. I grew up playing backyard football games with the Flutie brothers, whose parents still live a couple streets over from mine. I waited on most of the members of Aerosmith when I worked at the old General Cinema in Braintree - at the top of the hill near the mall - back in college. they all still keep homes on the South Shore of MA. from my decade of charter concert cruises, I've been able to meet very many musical acts both before they hit it big, and after they have hit the charts and are kind of on their ride down. I've played blackjack in the ship's casino with Jimmy DeMartini (the amazing fiddle player in Zac Brown Band) and climbed Dunne's River Falls in Jamaica with Jett Beres (the bass player from Sister Hazel) among other things. I still keep in touch with a few of the techs (sound/light guys) for various acts that I've met in the ship casino over the years. that said, when I consider these famous artists to be friends, I don't really think it counts for this list.
