I cannot be on here during the work day. (7:30 - 5:30 PST). It's not that it's blocked, it's that I don't have the time for it. Then, when I get home, I have maybe 30 minutes to "play" on the internetweb. I really should read a book instead, but I usually play. Even with how slow it is, I can't keep up during the week. For example, I don't know why Bonny left. I saw her good-bye post, but I don't have time to find out why she's actually gone. And I don't "need to know", that's just an example of how I'm not here enough to keep up nor be in the "in crowd". When I do have time to be here, I do enjoy it immensely.

Thanks. I hope she doesn't stay away. She's always been so nice to me and exceptionally helpful.

Weltz has been around - in fact, she posted just today on the Muffin Shop thread in EE.
Snowbird seems to have been absent for a few months now. Snowbird is here. She's just posting under a different alias.

No, it's not patiencetried, lena. I don't feel comfortable giving out her alias without her permission, though.

Oh! patiencetried is male. Snowbird is female. patiencetried has been around for a long time, since the old MSN days. He posted on MSNBC's US news board, mostly, but under a different alias.

The sub-board was definitely a difficult transition. It had its pros and cons, but ultimately it did serve to organize topics a little more cleanly. I can bring up the idea of reintegrating "OT" to regular YM.
One thing I prefer on this board vs. the old one is the real estate. The MSN format wasted a good amount of screen space on a useless header and other links. I can only imagine how that would have looked on a mobile device.
It is also the holiday times, so we have an interesting mix. Some people have more time from being off from work. Others are way too busy preparing for travel and hosting.

I like to change my "Nasgul Girl " name every so often because it's, to me, funny. I like to work in holidays and my moods. I always stay with the base of " Nasgul Girl " so tha people would obviously know it's still me.
There are a lot of punsters on this board, and I like to read the holiday variants of their names.
Life is too short, and we're on this board for amusement as well as advice.

Chloe, I haven't been on here as much as I previously was. I only saw Bonny's goodbye, I wasn't sure what that was about. I am not working right now but I still don't have much time to be on here. And if I see a thread that is 10 pages long, I won't start reading it. Because usually it is a lot of quotes and the actual thread is only 4 pages long. But I can't scroll through looking at it.
I have tried to keep up with Dark's business page and other threads about wills, budgets, beneficiaries, etc...
But I really liked the thread on the old MSN board about the worst Christmas gifts. Anybody remember that?

We usually figured out who they are anyway.

I often wonder what happened to Elizabeth. She's still a member, but hasn't posted (that I've seen) in a long time. If I recall correctly, she had 2 daughters and in our opinion her husband wasn't being a good husband, but getting out of the marriage was complicated because of some job or property issues or something in 2 different states. I've wondered how things have worked out for her.

I really wish we could send out some sort of all-member blast asking those who we've not heard from to update us. I say "wish" because its more a matter of logistics than capability. I do not support frivolous use of mass e-mail functions.
That being said, its not like posting a "tell us how you are doing" thread is going to reach people who aren't reading.
Perhaps we can all pick a day to be online for a virtual reunion?

I wonder what happened to BeeInKC - the last he posted he was having huge problems with his wife and everyone was telling him to leave her.
I wonder what happened to KineticKid and her kid - she was so unhappy and I wonder if the kid ever felt that
I wonder what happened to QQ - she just got married and now I am curious if she had any kids
I wonder what happened to Bud1974 and his adventures with his many kids and wife
I wonder why I wonder so much about people I never met and I wonder if I am just so kind and compassionate or need to get a life

SL's average number of posts per day. In fairness, though, at least 40% of those are singletons in the word game threads. Chloe, I haven't been on here as much as I previously was. I used to really enjoy oldtex posts - but about a year or two or so ago, he just got much more political and kind of belligerent with those who don't agree with him. I was personally thinking he had some mental health issues, like dementia starting up, because his attitude had changed so much - so angry about everything that wasn't agreeing with his opinions. Previously - he had been rather humble, homespun, common sensish. I just started skipping his posts as I no longer found value in them. I enjoyed oldtex as well and I do wish he would come back. I joined the boards in 2011 so I am not really sure what he was like previously. I thought he made some interesting points but sometimes it seemed like he thought the entire country was going to hell and he got upset with anyone who didn't agree with that assessment. Honestly, he kind of reminded me of my dad. Since my father retired he sits around watching WAY too much news and he will go off on these rants regarding some issue he saw on television, and if you try and tell him that the information is not altogether accurate he gets very upset. Too much news can really be a bad thing sometimes for retired people, and the way the media loves to focus on the negative and exaggerate everything makes it even worse. He is going on a 2 week vacation next month and I am meeting him in Vegas for 6 days. I am really glad because I think he needs to get out of the house. In the summer he can fish and walk on the beach but it starts getting cooler where he is starting late Sept and in the winter he has nothing do so sits around watching TV all day. The last few weeks he has been talking about moving out west. I really hope he does because I think it would do him a lot of good and there would be a lot more for him to do.

oh - what about the poster who had the scarlet ohara icon and was trying to get divorced? It think she finally did get divorced? Or did her hoarder hubby finally clean up things? I can't remember her screen name now. But she did get divorced and was living on her own for the first time ever I think. Posters really piled on her which I really didn't get, but I'd love to get an update from her too.
