And he has finally admitted that yes, he did have relations with that crack pipe. This was posted about 30 minutes ago.
TORONTO (AP) -- The mayor of Toronto is saying he smoked crack "probably a year ago" when he was in a "drunken stupor."
Rob Ford's admission to reporters Tuesday follows months of accusations during which the embattled mayor refused to step down.
The allegations that he had been caught on video smoking crack surfaced in May.
"Yes, I have smoked crack cocaine," Ford told reporters Tuesday outside his office. "There have been times when I've been in a drunken stupor. That's why I want to see the tape. I want everyone in the city to see this tape. I don't even recall there being a tape or video. I want to see the state that I was in."
Police said last week it had obtained a copy of the video.

And an excerpt from CNN's website, where Ford blames the media for misunderstanding his non-drug use: While speaking outside his office Tuesday, he said he hadn't lied -- apparently referring to his previous statements on the matter.
"You didn't ask the correct questions," he said Tuesday. "No, I'm not an addict. And no, I do not do drugs. I made mistakes in the past and all I can do is apologize."
When he addressed the allegations in May, Ford denied crack cocaine use in the present tense.
"I do not use crack cocaine. Nor am I an addict of crack cocaine," he told reporters then, according to CNN affiliate CBC.
That's the problem - he didn't give the wrong answers. Dumb media people did not ask him right!  |

Apparently, he's pretty popular, despite the poll numbers and the meltdowns at city hall. And let's face it, he's amusing as heck. What he had done up until now was naughty, not illegal. The problem was the video, which is in police custody, had not been seen. Now that he's admitted to the deed, there are calls for him to step aside. If he does not, his powers as mayor can be suspended, all or in part, but he cannot be removed, as he is an elected official. He can be elected out of office next year, when his term expires, however. The following is from CTV News: Councillors call on Ford to step downMeanwhile councillors continue to call on the mayor to step down. Following Ford's admission, Coun. Jaye Robinson said Ford "does not have a shred of credibility." Calling on Ford to step down, at least temporarily, she said city hall has become "a circus." "Anyone saying it's not affecting the business of the city, they're not being honest. It absolutely is." Coun. Paula Fletcher suggested Ford step aside in order to get some help. "He needs to actually not be in the media spotlight and trying to fulfil his operations as the mayor in order to get the help he needs," she said. Coun. John Filion said council can't remove Ford from office as he was elected. "I'm not calling for him to be removed from office. Council can't remove him from office; the people can do that next October if he's in the election," he said. "But the city has important work to do ... The train wreck is happening and we need to get rid of this distraction.” Earlier in the day, Filion said he plans to table a motion that would see council vote on suspending the mayor's powers to appoint and dismiss the deputy mayor and standing committee chairs. The motion would remove Ford's ability to shuffle the members of his executive committee and hand that power over to city council at large. Why is this guy still in office? Canadia doesn't have a recall process or what? He would have to be charged with a crime, and a video of him smoking "something" (as far as can be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt) isn't enough to charge him. |

Everytime I see the name of this thread I think it's about the Ford family political dynasty here in Memphis.
The family includes former U.S. congressmen Harold Ford Sr. and Jr., Joe Ford the mayor of Shelby county (Memphis), the bizarre and the rumored drunk/drug addled Ophelia Ford (representing Memphis) now in the Tennessee state senate, and John Ford, the disgraced Tennessee state senator (another one representing Memphis) convicted of bribery. John Ford also had a number of ex-wives including one who intentionally drove her personal vehicle at high speed into the living room of Ford's new wife at the time.
Harold Sr., Joe, Ophelia and John Ford are all siblings. Crazy bunch but entertaining.
