DJ, Ford has always been hyper erratic to the point of it being a joke.

Sorry, but when the Mayor is ranting about murdering someone in a most vicious manner, I'd say there's a problem. The guy's nuts.

He's definitely out of control - it's disturbing seeing/hearing his rantings - and then his denials and back-peddling every time he's confronted.
A loose cannon like that shouldn't be in charge of the City at this point - he should be getting treatment - not only for the alcohol/drugs but he should also have a mental evaluation. He just doesn't act like a rational, sane person.
The best thing he could do for himself (AND The City of Toronto) right now - is to step aside and slip quietly out the back door - so the City can get back to normal business - and the furor he's caused can die down.
The television news and late-night talk shows are having a field-day with him - not only here, but south of the border (Letterman, Leno, Fallon, etc etc). He's a laughing stock - and an embarrassment to himself AND his City. He's not doing anyone a favor by by hanging around and refusing to take responsibility for his behavior/actions.
He's a whacko.

He's a massive liability to not only the city of Toronto, but the province of Ontario, and our country of Canada. Ford is a massive embarrassment, but he's never been known to be quiet, he's a loud mouthed abusive schmuck.

Him admitting to taking an illegal drug while drunk isn't enough? Here in the states "I was really drunk your honor" isn't a valid legal defense. Really? Wow that is amazing. I can't remember it so it doesn't count eh!? is totally a fer sure defense here ya hoser!

The thing is too, Ford has gone on diets and things with the city watching and he fell off that wagon with just that. His brother is saying he'll go away for a couple weeks, well hell I do hope it ain't like his weight loss stuff. A couple weeks ain't enough for a crack addict or an alcoholic. I hope his brother's couple weeks is poly-speak for folks he ain't coming back.

I don't think a couple of weeks is going to help the individual I've seen in these videos. It's going to take a good deal longer than that, and that's IF a change can be made. He has to want it, and I don't see a whole lot of honest contrition from this guy. He's waaaay off the deep end.

Yeah really agree with you. He needs to totally quit the Toronto Mayors job and go into long term care. His mom thinks all his issues is cause Ford is overweight, like really , geez.

Being overweight is only one of his problems, as I see it, and it certainly isn't the worst of them. I'd say being a roaring drunk, peeing on trees in the park, and ranting about murdering a fellow human being in a depraved and excessively violent way all outweigh his girth (pun intended).

Yup and add to that list crack & drug addict. Wow we got ourselves a real winner right here in our Mayor's chair.

The bloating is probably due to the excessive boozing - and the cocaine use was probably his idea of a quick weight loss/diet plan.
Even his eyes are just blank and cold - not even a flicker of remorse or contrition.
If he was in his right mind, he'd resign his role of Mayor while he's ahead and possibly save what little dignity he may have left - though I think that well ran dry several months ago.

that is the part that bothers me the most. he openly lies to cover his ass until there is a huge amount of evidence against him, and THEN he admits. it is no way to conduct yourself, even for the average citizen.

This is new to you guys? Any time there's a political scandal, riot, or national embarrassment for Canada, your newsmedia is on it like stink on cheese. I'd criticize you for it, but the truth is that the US's scandals and blunders are routinely fodder for Canadian newsmedia. It seems to be the way of the world, pointing and laughing at your neighbour as he twirls around his yard howling and trying to detach the pitbull from his butt.

This is new to you guys? ... Nope. There is a whole already existing thread dedicated to Mayor Ford on the Current Events board. Might this be combined with it? Yes, there is, billis. I'd forgotten about that thread. It's probably a good idea to combine them to maintain continuity. Besides, this really does fit better in Current Affairs than in P&M. I'll merge the threads. mmhmm, P&M Moderator
