As a followup to all the food threads lately, I'd like to pose a question to the fine people of this message board.
What foods do you like the most, and what foods do you hate the most?

I could eat Italian everyday. I spent 3 weeks in Italy and never got tired of the food. I could easily live off pasta and bread if I let myself. MUST have chocolate too! Oh, and strawberries... I LOVE strawberries!
If I went my whole life and never ate a brussel sprout I would be just fine.

I like a lot of things. I don't think I can pick a favorite. I do love cereal - all kinds. I don't eat the really sugary stuff, although I do have one or two that are much sweeter than the others I eat.
I'm not a big fish fan. I don't really care for cod, or any of the ones that have white flesh. I do love salmon, and I like sea food. But, even a great halibut, or mahi mahi - just doesn't do it for me.

If I went my whole life and never ate a brussel sprout I would be just fine. You are cooking them wrong. I hated them growing up, and then found out I really liked them, when they were cooked well.

They are actually tiny cabbages. So, just hold them and pretend you are a giant.

Thyme- I always like the recipe ideas you post. You should start a thread about recipes you try. I'd probably try to be more adventurous if I had a food coach!

Korean is my comfort food. I dislike sour foods. FIL had pig intestine and blood cubes in chili sauce the other night and I wouldn't even try it. Well, I ate the tofu out of it. I just bought this cookbook: www.japanesefarmfood.com/I'm really wanting to try dipping green onion in miso and drinking with beer. Sounds yum.

Here - I will give you a hint...we didn't like Brussel Sprouts until we fried them in bacon grease, and served them with the crumbled bacon. Now, we don't usually prepare them that way - but that got them into our rotation.

I like almost all food. I can't really think of anyting I dislike. One thing that most guys love that I could never have again and be fine with is steak. I eat it, but it doesn't do it for me and I won't go out of my way for it.

Oh - I know what I don't like. Chicken Wings. I know - I'm the worst human on the planet for hating them, but there is so much not to like. First off, chicken wings are the worst part of the worst common poultry item. They have all kinds of tendons and nastiness for the amount of actual meat that is on them. {{shudder}} Second, the sauce is just hot sauce mixed with oil, so it is nasty, and greasy. And not in the good way. I am not a huge hot sauce fan, so that probably doesn't help any. So, even deep frying them doesn't save it from the first two problems. Not my deal. Also, I don't love ranch dressing (which is the west coast standard) so dipping them in that doesn't save it. I do like blue cheese, but I would rather just eat a hunk of blue cheese than to get my blue via a chicken wing.

TD's SIL makes an incredible brussels sprout. I could eat the whole dish she usually brings. I've tried it a couple times and mine just does not taste like her dish.
I hate okra, will not eat it. Will not eat liver either. Those are the only 2 things I detest.
Love seafood, I could eat it every day if I had the chance. But I'll try anything....or at least I think I will. I'm not sure about trying one of those cured, fertilized eggs, or insects.

See, I think I like everything, and then I'm reminded of foods I don't like. I like mustard, and I love peas. But I hate olives. I will pick them out. I keep eating them, thinking that I just need to try them again, since so many people love them. But, alas, they never taste even remotely good.

I keep trying olives too in hopes that I will start liking them. It hasn't happened yet
oh, and coffee is another. It smells great and I keep trying to convince my self that ill like it. I taste it, and it still tastes awful.

I'm a vegetarian and I hate any kind of meat. I occasionally eat fish, but I could live without it, too. Oddly, something I really hate is cilantro. However, I very rarely go out to eat, so I make homemade salsa and mexican food. Otherwise, cilantro is hard to avoid in restaurant-prepared mexican dishes (around here anyway).
I LOVE fresh, in-season fruit! I could live on it! I also have a terrible time passing up good bread, so I buy the cheap sandwich bread for the family and try to avoid buying the good stuff. Too hard to resist!

Mmmm, coffee - I'll take yours Swamp (you have to put in milk and sweetner).
Love - perfectly ripe watermelon (with the seeds) I can eat myself silly on that and still not go overboard on calories.
Hate - Canned peas. There is no way I can justify their existence. Tinny, starchy, greyish mass of *blech*.
As far as brussels sprouts, have you ever tried steaming then roasting them in the oven - totally different taste and requested by SIL who only eats them when I cook them that way.

I eat and like almost everything too. I like trying out new veggies and fruits and different preparations. I am a pretty awesome cook if I may say so myself . My favorite cuisines include Indian and Italian. LOVE them!!!

I like almost everything. I won't eat scalloped tomatoes or tomato aspic. If I'm going to eat tomatoes, I prefer them fresh off the vine. I'm not a huge fan of red meat, but I'll eat it without complaint. Do NOT like coffee, no matter how it's decorated. I adore escargot, fresh, raw vegetables and fresh, warm bread with butter or a dipping oil.

Love: Corn (on or off the cob) and corn products, potatoes and potato products, pasta, shrimp cocktail, any fruit, any herb, peanut butter, carrots, granola, salsa, olives, sushi, mustard, peppers, broccoli, onions, oatmeal, beans, ice cream, and Diet Dr. Pepper. Basically everything that isn't on one of the lower two lists. OK in moderation: eggs, some seafood, creamy sauces/condiments, pickles, tomatoes. Hate: Mushrooms (can't get past the slimy texture), organs (liver, tongue), ground hamburger (e.g. spaghetti with meat sauce or tacos) - although I like actual hamburgers fine. I also don't tend to eat things that require much effort to get at the food - chicken wings, crab legs, ribs. I'm lazy.

I've only had okra once. I didn't get the "slimy" thing, because mine wasn't slimy at all. We got it in a tapas bar, and it had wasabi sauce on it. It was fantastic. I have been terrified to make okra at home because so many people hate it. Maybe I'll try it this summer.

Oooh, I just thought of my very favorite fruit. How could I have forgotten mangosteens!? ! Every once in awhile, I'll splurge and order some shipped. They're expensive as all get-out, but I've gotta have 'em now and then or I get cranky.

I hate eggs. My mom tried fo years to get me to eat them but never happened. I also detest cilantro, it tastes like soapy dish water to me which I found is a genetic thing. Ciltrantro tastes great to DH.
Do not like morels which is almost grounds for banishment in DH's family. Don't care for fish either which is partially due to it being so hard to find truly fresh fish here. In Malyasia I couldn't get enough.
I like a lot of foods. My favorite new vegetable right now is aparagus. I season it with salt, pepper and olive oil then stick it under the broiler till slightly chared. Yummy.

<sigh> being on a limited sodium diet there are a lot of things we love but can't have. Mexican, chinese, pizza.
I won't eat anything slimey, liver, any cooked cabbage.
Love ice cream ........ but it also has sodium.
